Can you imagine just How good it would have been for the lads who discovered the Gold Coast in the 60s and 70s, and surfed the absolute plethora of Perfect waves with literally only 2 or 3 others out....Coupled with warm water pretty much all year round, and the scenic, beautiful countryside around everywhere there at that point in time, and beaches that are simply as beautiful and perfect as you can possibly get, anywhere in the entire world, it is no wonder at all as to why they named the Gold Coast, in Qld, Australia " Surfer's Paradise "....It truly must have been an Amazing experience to have lived here during those years of pure perfection, and to have surfed the manifold (SO many[!!!]..) and truly world-class waves that are all along this small stretch of coastline, at that time, getting to pick from all of them, or surf a few different ones on any given swell.....And to get to do so minus the swarming crowds of this day and age there....In fact, getting the places entirely to themselves, with maybe three or four people out,...Ever(!!!..)....( ...anyone who knows the Gold Coast today will realise, indeed, what an incredible concept that is...!!..... just Imagining it fills me with bliss and sheer joy.... (!!!)........A "Surfer's Paradise", indeed......

Having grown up in Burleigh during the mid 70's and the 80's I recall times of complete perfection at 6-8ft and even the rare but insane 10-12ft at the cove & point with barely 10-20 guys out. MAGIC!

That racetrack tube coming down the point is insane! Used to live at Burleigh 40 years ago and had it like that quite a few times. Drop ins are getting more blatant, but it was never great even way back.

Ripper Burleigh Barrels ATM. Not big, maybe three foot, but gorgeous. I followed one by eye and it went well over a kilometre right to left looking at it from the Surf Bar.

I hate to say it but Tow is surfing is as about as cool as cancer. Have more respect for pro WakeBoarders.
they are alright, I got a tow back out from a couple using a ski out a here when it was really big. only a few guys out paddling so they were giving us a free ride back out.
, the paddle in is the least important part of the wave when it comes to scoring.
