Regarding "true form," yes, that's straight out of Greek/Roman mythology - if a human sees a god as the god actually is, the human will literally burn to a crisp (that happened to the mother of Dionysus). And as for Camp Half-blood, it literally is a summer camp. Some kids (such as Annabeth, before this year) stay year-round, but most use the skills they learn at camp to protect themselves in the "real world" during the school year.
The reason Luke ran wasn't because Annabeth is a good fighter (which she is). He ran because Annabeth IS his little sister and he WANTS her to be on his side. He doesn't want to fight her. Neither does Annabeth. She's been betrayed by everyone she called family all her life. First by Athena because she was never in her life to begin with. Then her father because he chose the normal world over her. And now she sees this. She waited to reveal herself until Percy fought Luke because she was scared that he might leave her side as well.
The "No Mourners, No Funerals" reference caught me off guard and now I am sad again. 😭 (I live in delusion that Netflix will change their mind.) Also, excellent reaction!!! I hope we get another season of PJO!

The whole conflict with Luke is one of the reasons why the books are so good. Luke is right that something needs to change. He is just going about it in a way that Percy can’t get with morally. It is kind of like the conflict in the falcon and the winter soldier
About Camp, you can stay all year around if you want to. But some demigods would literally be fine outside because they're not really powerful and monsters can't smell them like idk a child of Demeter. Somebody like Percy SHOULD stay in Camp but he can fight so😂
Interesting how you chose Demeter when she's one of the oldest of the 12 😭 poor lady was done dirty before Trials of Apollo came to give her a powerful kid. I'd always go for an Iris or Tyche kid as an example of the type of demigod monsters wouldn't go after as much lol

Just a note - suspension of disbelief is sort of central to this saga. I mean… it’s about gods who live on Mt Olympus… which is accessed by an elevator in the Empire State Building. If you can get past that, you probably can deal with the concept of a 12 year old 7th grader’s sword being smaller than the God of War’s sword - that’s probably closer to real life than a lot of the stuff we saw this season. Also, I’m glad you noted the exchange between Percy and his dad. Great acting all around there between Lance Redding, Walker Scobell, and Toby Stephen’s… but Stephens’ response to the “Do you dream about my mother” question may be the best moment of the season (in a season full of great acting). He said so much with just his eyes.
The thing with the Ares fight is that Ares underestimated Percy. We see how he's mocking him at the start and laughing at him. He didn't even think that they are by the sea which gives Percy the advantage bcs Ares is so overconfident (which ofc he would be, he's a god). Percy wasn't really gonna win this fight if Ares was seriously fighting. He could've easily killed him right when he grabbed him but he decided to toy around with him instead. That's where he got screwed up. As Poseidon said, Ares is a "moron". 😅 So in essence, Percy outsmarted Ares.
Nice reaction. To adapt the whole series it would most likely take 5 seasons total (one per book). Hopefully they will be willing to green light them if this one does well enough and can get on it quickly because as you say, the kids aren’t getting any younger. Also if you’re curious about what happens to Gabe, it goes down a bit differently in the book so I don’t know if it will be carried over to the show, but we do find out.

In the books, Percy realizes that Gabe is physically absuive to Sally and offers to get rid of him. Sally turns down the offer but Percy leaves Medusa’s head with her to use if she wants to herself. Later we hear that she did, and she sold the statue of Gabe as an art piece called “the Poker Player” and used the money to go back to college.
Oh this show is doing REALLY well so I really hope Disney ain't gonna wait too long, these kids are growing up FAST. But they got a ton of massive and expensive promotion so I hope that's a sign. But they would still need to start filming pretty quickly and scheduling us also difficult with minors.
Alecto presumably can reform from the underworld so fast because she's working directly for hades
PJOTV debuted bigger than Loki so I hope Disney isn't gonna be stupid cuz these kids are growing up FAST. We need at least 5 seasons for the original 5 books and they would definitely need to do at least a s2-3 renewal at once. Otherwise they're gonna be the typical adults playing kids lmao😂😂
Yeah I've seen photos of them promoting the show and my selfish response to how much older they look already is wanting them immediately put in front for a film camera to get the rest of the show shot before they have to deal with Percy having permanent stubble lol

The sword Percy has is not a regular sword. It is made from celestial bronze which is stronger than normal steel.
Some demigods have no parents or nowhere safe to go, so they’ll stay at the camp all year. Annabeth did that after she ran away from home. And some campers arent prepared enough to defend themselves back home (too young and powerful at the same time). Everyone else usually just comes for the summer and then goes home for the school year.
I sure hope they film seasons 2 and 3 back to back because they take place in the same year, and then make season 4 while seasons 2 and 3 are rolling out. Also they can't really extend the timeline because it's very important that the series ends when he is 16.
Camp runs all year long
Kids with a terrible home life like Annabeth can stay there the entire year .
However kids of lesser gods are not that much in danger outside of camp unless they live in an area with a lot of monsters so they only came for summer . Percy is in danger outside of camp however he is strong enough to defend himself.
So only the super powerful ones that attract more monstwrs then usual or the ones with trash homelife end up staying fulltime. Only reason Percy does is he was raised with a strong connection with his mom and opted to leave. They can all opt to leave or stay. Up to them
Yeah you're not stuck at Camp but it's simply dangerous and most half bloods have a bad home life so why would they leave anyway (except for quests)

the thing is the quests need to be short and the duration needs to be 4 years because of a certain prophecy and the other storylines that follow. i mean andrew was like what. 28? playing a high schooler in spider man? toby was 26. its gonna be fine im sure. they still look like little kids so its all good. im mid 20s and still get asked when im graduating high school lol
IIRC in the books she does make blue waffles for him... but I heard for the show they changed it to blue pancakes because of the. Slang that no one should look up. Anyway, love this episode, very happy with this season, and glad you feel the same way!
That's how you do a finale, awesome episode! You're right it feels like the 1st step to a bigger story, because it is.
Even in the book, you are meant to be conflicted about Luke and have a foot on each side, at least for now. It actually makes sense!
Gabe did not deserve to be turned to stone. He was a loser, for sure, but he wasn't a bad guy. It is hilarious that he accidentally got turned to stone, tho.
Recently watched an interview where Walker said he grew 4-5 inches in the 10 months of filming. Speaking of timeframes, books 2 & 3 actually happen the same year, so hopefully they film both seasons back to back or like you said they'll have to adjust the time frame. Rick Riordan said he updated the story of the 1st book so hopefully he'll continue doing that.
I have faith the team of writers and directors will make the right decisions moving forward. I mean, as a book reader, they exceeded my expectations. Even with just 8 episodes, they managed to make an amazing season 1. It was so much fun watching these episodes every week. And the story only gets better from here.
I'm so proud of all of them, especially the main trio! Walker is Percy 💙 Love Leah as Annabeth and really like Aryan as Grover!
Can't wait for more seasons. Anxiously waiting for a season 2 announcement.

Child actors aging up during production is always a thing Studios has to account for. That the Harry Potter series; how old do you think those actors were by the 7th and 8th movies? They were well into thwarting 20s; playing 17 year olds. If the Narnia films; the actress playing Lucy, grew during the filming of the second film, they had to alter her costume to fit her, but still make her younger.
So yeah; they will have to make adjustments to the story to make things fit. It's what you do with kids actors.
The writers are writing the next chapter but they are waiting for the go ahead by Disney+. The next one is I believe is Gods and Monsters. Disney+ has not yet confirmed anything but the script is almost ready.

For the beach fight I had less issue with the block cos I just assume Demi gods are stronger than they seem (can’t remember what the first book said on that and not read the rest)
What I did wish they didn’t do was where they have Ares have a solid grab on Percy for 5+ seconds where all he had to do was move his other arm forward to skewer him thru the stomach and THEN throw him about like a rag doll to humiliate him.
Like just have him immediately throw him or not grab him in the first place cos the way they chose makes Ares not winning look silly
I think it's supposed to be that way. Percy isn't actually going to win a fight against a literal god but Ares is a "moron" as what Poseidon said. He underestimated Percy and toyed around with him instead of going for the kill. The fight would've been ended in seconds if he was seriously fighting.
