Sweat and tears..😅 Cat 390 F fighting hard rock! More 2 side double benching!🤙

  • Carrying on in the pile I started with in my previous video!😄
    Loading blasted granite on our construction site while building the industrial park.
    I’m clearing a rock face here, to prepare for blasting of the remaining rock I stand next to.😋
    The lower meter of the pile is very hard to rip loose, since I’m going down to the bedrock, only leaving some dust and gravel to make a proper driving area for the trucks!🥵😅
    This pile has been of the hardest rock piles yet on this project, and I’m really starting to miss the 4 tooth bucket in my struggle with the original 5 tooth bucket..🤪
    Enjoy!🙏

    At 43:50 there is a green light that turns red on the side of the 772. I'm assuming that is a load light?

    • @norwegianearthmovers
      @norwegianearthmovers  3 года назад +2

      That’s correct!😋 The trucks have onboard scale weighs, and they are adjusted towards a target payload! They are not always correct though, if the trucks are elevated or on uneven ground when loaded, they tend to measure a bit wrong..🤪
      But the idea is; -green light-load on
      -blinking red-target close
      -constant red-stop, it’s full

    Stupid question, but why are you loading the trucks on a 90 degree angle? Smooth operation nonetheless but I always figured a mass excavator like that should be kept on a 25 degree or less swing.

    • @norwegianearthmovers
      @norwegianearthmovers  3 года назад +1

      Hi!🙋‍♂️ Hehe, no questions are stupid!😄 Well, I am rarely turning as much as 90 degrees, but I guess that the wide angle lens on my cameras makes the swing cycles look longer than they actually are.🤭 This pile was very hard to work in, and it wouldn’t slide down from the top as I like it to do. Had to place the trucks longer out of safety matters, as I didn’t want rock and boulders to randomly slide down to hit and damage the trucks and drivers!😝😄 In this case, the length of my swing cycles were to prevent risk!
      Have you seen the end of this video? The incab part in the end of the video shows my turns better!🙂 There you will se that my swing pattern varies between beneath the truck at the rear wheels, and out to about 60 degrees turns! I do my best to always work the trucks backwards so my cycles can be as short as possible.😋 I would really like to have even shorter turns, but I can’t find any solutions to make them shorter!
      Thanks for watching and for being curious!🙏🤗

    • @norwegianearthmovers
      @norwegianearthmovers  2 года назад +2

      Hehe, I don’t think that you are nagging, I think it’s fun to answer questions!😉
      Well, I operate about every machine there is except motor graders, if it’s needed.🙃
      At Hæhre, I am mostly operating my 390, but I have been working with other excavators as well, and had a large 988 wheel loader once as well. But there are times where I think about running other machines for a change.😅 I am however licensed for about everything in construction, and I also has license for trailers, cranes and fork lifts.
      I must say that I like loading better than anything though, so I guess I will be operating large excavators as long as I’m allowed and my body can bare it!🙃

    • @t_rex8767
      @t_rex8767 2 года назад +1

      @@norwegianearthmovers nice, i looked at the prices to get the licenses but Nok 15-16.000 for each class is too pricey for me unfortunately.

    • @norwegianearthmovers
      @norwegianearthmovers  2 года назад +2

      @@t_rex8767 wow, does it cost that much these days? But there’s only one class, for one week to get the 40 hours theory course, isn’t it? That’s all I had, and then I got paid to operate the machines I wanted license for later on, in companies I worked for.🙃
      Well, to be honest, working in main production and constantly loading like I mostly do, takes a rather heavy toll on the body.🤭😄
      When working on my own with smaller machines, I don’t have that pressure to perform non stop, and can relax a bit compared to when I’m on the bench with a fluent stream of trucks coming in.😅
      I am on the other side not good enough when it comes to take breaks no matter the size of machine, so I tend to wear myself down no matter what.. But I do get a boost when I’m loading, so I am forgetting that I turn tired when I’m having fun while the trucks run all they have to keep me busy..😄
      I guess that I’m kind of damaged goods when it comes to operating, it is just so fun that my “cubic fever” turns on fire every day..😂😂

    • @norwegianearthmovers
      @norwegianearthmovers  2 года назад +1

      Hi!🙋‍♂️ Well, I didn’t have time to double bench from left to right at this point, as they had a deadline for blasting the rock I put my camera on.🙃
      This two side double bench method, is the most efficient way we can operate when it comes to making space for blasting! Compared to classical double benching, I have reached up to 100 truckloads more with this way of loading in a day!🙂
      I don’t have a cleanup dozer, so I have to make a proper surface for the trucks to drive on. One tire on those trucks costs half a day’s production, so we save a lot of money when I invest some time on cleanup and grading.😄
