Simple Minds have been musical pioneers for 40 glittering years. Catching the mood of the post-punk era, when the angry sounds of 1977 were splintering into a thousand different shapes, they emerged with a style rooted in the art-rock of David Bowie and the electronic dance of Donna Summer. In selling over 60 million records, they have seen three of their 20 studio albums reach number one in the UK - Sparkle In The Rain, Once Upon A Time and Street Fighting Years - a chart-topping feat equalled by their live album Live In The City Of Light and the compilation Glittering Prize. A spellbinding touring band, they have graced the world's biggest stadiums. They starred at Live Aid and played three momentous London shows in honour of Nelson Mandela. The past decade has also seen a remarkable resurgence, their world-class credentials acknowledged by a Q magazine Inspiration award in 2014 and an Ivor Novello in 2016. I've been a big fan since I first heard Waterfront on the radio! Been to see them live 4 times! I once danced with my friend to "Don't you forget about me" by a beach bar in Malia-Crete! We'd had a couple of beers! Drew quite an audience! Classic 😻
I also had this playing on my Walkman (god that's showing my age) I was in labour with my second daughter! I was dancing round the room to try and get things moving! She was born 2 hours later! What a song to bring a baby into the world! Book of brilliant things 🤗💕

I saw Sarah do this at Manchester Apollo and I was appalled at how many people were still coming back from the bar whilst Sarah sang her heart out.

If there were a DVD of this concert I would get it on the strength of this performance. Sarah Brown does such a great rendition of a tune I'd not previously heard until encountering this clip a couple years back. And I come back again and again. Fabulous. And at the Usher Hall, which I walk past all the time when I'm in Edinburgh. Magic!
