Everyday I'm "HAPPY" seeing this Kick-Ass car has a focus to get finished. It is the BEST BUILD on You Tube. There is no other Hand Built car, made from scratch . There is my favorite builder RUNGE ,but he just makes Aluminum Bodies for existing chassis. Still a very talented Builder. I'm seeing it all ,together painted, upholstered The wood trim , the Immaculate Chariot, it will be. No denying, That's Jolene of Bad Chad Customs, going down the road. Absolutely a great summer of driving smiles for miles!!! EXCITING !
Before going further, make a removable brace going down the center from firewall to rad support. Will give extra body rigidity. Then, make the sides of the engine bay temporarily removable as well. For access to the area while working on it. Then you'll always be able to get to the plugs, air filter, carbs, oil filter, etc.
The removable strut is a great idea. And yes. Now is the time to make mods for serviceability. I also wondered if he could create clearance recesses if he does not want removeable panels.
@@garyd907 Stainless will look nice, but I think Chad is right. Brass against aluminum avoids the galvanic corrosion. You would be amazed how quickly the aluminum will 'rot' away from the contact with stainless given the right conditions for that chemistry.
This is definitely a labor of love, Bad Chad's Magnum Opus. Watching him exercise his patience, trying to do everything as perfectly as possible. I'm sure this car is going to turn out amazing.
New sub here. Jolene, I know Chad doesn't read the comments much but let him know he has inspired me (a 62 yr old man who has never done metal work) to attempt to make a kitchen backsplash just like this firewall insert! Very excited. Love your channel.
I love to watch your fabrication skills, you are truly talented but I am really enjoying watching the progress on Jolene’s car, it’s nice to see it moving forward
When I ask this question I am really interested to know. Please don't take this as negative criticism on what you do ,i think you are very talented in your field of car building/modifying. This is not hyperbolic this is true. My question is why did you not make foot wells on each side of the fire wall to accommodate the pedals on the drivers side and allowing the steering wheel to be closer to the dash and giving more leg and arm room .Please don't be upset at me for this question it not that I don.t like the project I am just wondering the reason .Haters please don't hate on me for honest dialogue and being interested in the thought process.
Interesting. I bet he appreciates our ideas when he knows we are genuinely interested & following along! I bet Chad is pretty open-minded in spite of the high energy. He is at a critical stage here!
You're definitely a talented fabricator and craftsman. Not too many people are doing what you do. I've enjoyed watching your videos very much. Definitely a big fan
Hello from Ireland Chad and Jolene, was a fan of yours since the tv show, I think RUclips was the best decision so we can now get to see all the hard work that goes into building these cars, I’m a welder fabricator for the past 30 years, I build custom motorcycles and trikes along with doing structural steel works so I know how it’s hard working with metal but so rewarding, you do fantastic work and are a great inspiration to young guys wanting to pursue there dreams in life, keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing the Bugatti finished, one of my favourite cars 👍👍👍👍
It’s looking great chad,,I’m loveing watching the bild as you put it togeather,I wish I had known you years ago when I was restoring my old cars,I’m 86 now and not doing much, but I surely enjoy watching your progress on your bilde,I think you an Jolene are the greatest,,luv ya’s,,👍👍😀
I think Rivets would look the Best for mounting that Firewall. It's going to be a cool little car when its all said and done. Jolene is going to love it.
It's amazing what you're doing with this car, makes everyone that's doing a resto realise that with a bit of imagination and motivation you can achieve anything.
You are a loud to be proud of your work. And you are still learning as you go. Its not like you make the same thing over and over again. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Chad & Jolene. I hope that Chad and Jolene have a great day today. I learn new ways to fix a car from Chad every time that i watch the show. Thank you so very much.
Love Chad's passion and talent for doing things his own way. Impressive job well done. Love the look that this aluminum firewall provides. Reminds me of the instrument panel installed on Pontiac Trans AMs.
Firewall is awesome. How about attaching it with aircraft rivets, from the backside? Like the ones on the wings etc. they are round and flush on the front. Just an idea. Love it, cheers, take care and peace out!
Chad I can't thank you enough for all the awesome footage of your work in progress ! It's inspiring ! I get over whelmed at times .. but I to am staying the course like you & Jolene .. Your words of encouragement goes straight to my heart .. today as with time past there's been some awesome progress on my build .. even though it's been small victories .. like you said every little thing done is something I won't have to visit over & over again as things move how ever so slowly forward ! At the end of the day it feels great just to be able to accomplish something no matter how small it was .. Taking the time to put some thought into it has been beneficial to me .. I have used material others have thrown away that saved me a lot of money & has worked out great ! I have been admiring my work as it starting to take shape which motivates me as I go ... Hand built has character & I am so glad it's that way ! Can't wait to actually drive it everyday & enjoy it .. Got a ways to go .. but it will get there ! Thanks Chad & Jolene !
Chad. Maybe weld two of the four holes shut for the carb mount on the manifold, re-drill and tap threads in them and you won't need the carb spacers. Could still use the fiber spacer gaskets.
Chad .. wish I had only half the knowledge you have, working on this stuff, you are truly amazing. keep up the good work guy,s you are truly amazing both of you ..
What is so great about Jolene's camera work is how smoothly, slowly and steadily she moves. Her work is very professional and a pleasure to watch. Everybody else's camera moving and panning is fast and jerky and that just creates a blurry, unprofessional, irritating video. She must have been very focused on watching and learning camera techniques when the Discovery Channel's people were working on their show.
Always loved that effect!! Such a cool look! Can't wait to see the fully finished car. I'm sure your Queen is anxious too!! Thanks always for sharing!!
The firewall looks super. When together, the covers & firewall are going to look outstanding. A great job, making it & filming it. Can not wait to see it finished. It is going to turn heads wherever it goes.
Hi Chad & Jolene, the firewall was a lot of work but, well worth it. It looks absolutely beautiful and brass screws will really stand out. The center cut is so good I don't even know if you need to cover it, if you do Bad Chad Chrome of course! I know that the car is tremendous work but, it will be so worth it. Jolene are you getting really excited yet or do you need it to get a bit closer to done before the real excitement kicks in? I know there is still quite aways to go until it is totally done and ready for the road. Great work on the car and the video as always you guys!
Great work Chad, the 'Engine Turning' looks good on the firewall. Its a great way to give an impressive effect to a large sheet of metal and you have done a great job considering you did it all 'free hand'.
I think a flat stock frame needs to be added for the brake pedal/master cylinder, at least. That sheet metal could flex and weaken, over time. It'd be quickest and easiest to build the frame now......and safest.
Absolutely magnificent work. In 1938 Pierce Arrow hand crafted a stunning hand crafted a breathtaking car called the Silver Arrow for the Paris Automobile Exhibition. Panel beaters worked on until days before it’s debut, it was all aluminum and it won the best of show. The rear window treatment of your can takes a cue from the Silver Arrow masterpiece. Stunning
I would have loved to see you bead roll the edge of the 2 pieces all the way around. Also like the idea re brace from oldredchevy 1949.Great work, nevertheless.
Hey guys, I really like what you are doing with this car I watched the guild when they built their car it was interesting but I think because of the TV show there was a lot of staging and made up drama. I believe that was the way your tv shows were as well for the story line. The way you two are doing it now is so much more personal, and educational. I have learned so much watching and enjoy all your posts, so keep on doing what you are doing it works.I watch every day so keep up the great work.
I really enjoy watching your projects come together. Your queen Jolene is nice eye candy as well as a professional camera/editor lady. Keep up the good work. 👍
Love watching you channel. You explain and make everything so easy. I also like how you take and learn from older men. They are full of knowledge, and I like Jim as well. Keep up the great work. 👍
You may want to reconsider using brass screws with the aluminium, they are a combination of metals that have a galvanic reaction. I would use round head aluminium blind rivets.
It’s looking great on a project like this one takes time if you rush them there will be more mistakes you have to think ahead of each thing you do to make it fit other parts of the car that’s not easy keep up the great work and thanks Jolene for your patients with filming and your input it’s going to be a beautiful car for you I can’t wait to see the end result
That firewall is beautiful. Not sure about using brass screws to attach it. Need to check about brass and aluminum possibly reacting and causing corrosion. Might think on polished stainless screws or bolts. It you can get to them from the back side might do small stainless bolts that have rounded heads without slots or maybe button heads with the hex center. Those would look very correct for that time period. If you wanted something very exotic you could use gold plated stainless or titanium in plain or some color. Might need to order in some samples to see what looks good. Also, have you thought about some protection for the firewall and cam covers. Aluminum will oxidize over time and get dull. You could have the parts anodized. Would want to do a sample to see what effect that may have on the look. Wouldn't want anything to take away from the appearance. This car can have all kinds of ideas for eye candy.
Hella cool doin it that way. I might give that a try. Brass screws look nice they age nicely and also brass upholstery washers look nice. My 1960 panel truck might get some aluminum like you did i like it. It feels good doin it all your self. Its very satisfying.
100% agree Chad, a handbuilt car should NOT look as if its been made by a machine. The imperfections are what's called 'crafted'....this is the skill of man! and wife! I'm a big fan of your vlogs, so don't change anything unless it helps to improve your craft. you are, what's called 'real'. HNY by the way...
Bad Chad you are the man doing such great work the car is going to look so awesome , great film work Jolene as always . Soon we will see you move your bike collection which is my hot button .

EXCITING !
The firewall looks awesome being on the car. I would use rivets to mount the aluminum. That way it would blend much better.
I agree and that would help to reduce corrosion that might be caused by the brass / aluminium interface (dissimilar metals) 😎👍
Bloody amazing skill.
Before going further, make a removable brace going down the center from firewall to rad support. Will give extra body rigidity. Then, make the sides of the engine bay temporarily removable as well. For access to the area while working on it. Then you'll always be able to get to the plugs, air filter, carbs, oil filter, etc.
Not I 2 but each side.
The removable strut is a great idea. And yes. Now is the time to make mods for serviceability. I also wondered if he could create clearance recesses if he does not want removeable panels.
😢 Nice job on the firewall, you stainless screws don’t use brass they may 31:00 have chemical reaction 31:00

Looks great guys. It’s the very slight imperfections that make it truly ‘completely’ hand built 👍

Is Chad responding now? He rarely did in the past.
@@tjakr3869 it’s a reading channel only 😂
Could it be put in from the bottom? Just thinking out loud...lol
My guess they weren’t made like that back in the day the steering wheel was close to the driver and that’s why he’s building it that way
You're definitely a talented fabricator and craftsman. Not too many people are doing what you do. I've enjoyed watching your videos very much. Definitely a big fan

Chad and Jolene work through every problem. Thanks for allowing us to watch the process!
Great work and vision Chad and Jolene ...this is a piece of art ...Your Patience is the build is paying off 👍
The firewall looks amazing, I love it. It will reflect the colors of the engine once installed. Amazing job.
Chad the firewall looks fantastic. You and Jolene should be very proud.. Thank-you for teaching everyone.

and lots of skill, and of course the English Wheel, cornerstone of his workshop.

You are a loud to be proud of your work. And you are still learning as you go. Its not like you make the same thing over and over again. Thanks for sharing.
When a car is being built from the ground up. It is no longer “just a car” it becomes a piece of art. Good job sir.
all the communication, the constant sweet hearts, thanking, calm and affirmations. heart warming :)
I try and watch this when I can and really enjoy watching the progress. Can't wait to see what color this car will be painted.
That turned aluminum makes for a nice dash too
Remember the Bandit Trans Am had it from the factory.
If you use brass in aluminium ther is a potensionel difference,so you need to put nylon rings between to prevent corrosion.
Hello Chad & Jolene. I hope that Chad and Jolene have a great day today. I learn new ways to fix a car from Chad every time that i watch the show. Thank you so very much.
NOBODY can build them as fast as Bad Chad and that's a fact! He keeps the work flowing on the fly and is really good at it!

The machine shop told chad the manifold was not thick enough to do it so that is why they made the spacers
Its looked awesome! Keep going....we are all watching. Imperfections is the best!

That looks amazing!
I think attaching it with the same capped nuts the valve covers uses would look way cool too.
Hi Chad I was wondering if a thin gasket between the steel and the aluminum would stop noise and oxidizing corrosion between metals.
Nicely done Chad and Queen Jolene!
The gap between the two pieces of the new firewall is so close it may not even the Bad Chad Chrome Moulding installed !!! It looks awsome !!!
That firewall is getting really nice. 👍
Once completed, and secured with countersunk head screws, it will be perfect ✅

Nice car nice job thanks 🙏 for your videos
Would like to see this in person when it is done. Always better in person than a picture.

Awesome work chad as always i wonder if ya would ever attempt a 3wheel Morgan hand built with a v twin stuck on the front 🤔😁👍🇬🇧
Awesome job as always great build.
Bad Chad you are the man doing such great work the car is going to look so awesome , great film work Jolene as always . Soon we will see you move your bike collection which is my hot button .
The Firewalls Looking Good, What a Cool Design.
Looking good thanks for sharing
Nice piece of engine turning Chad , looks like fish scales and that's a compliment , looks fantastic 👌 👍
If that isn't the bees knees...looks produced..nice job..that is one hand made car.😀😀😀😀😀
