    Thanks Coach! Very useful information. I am wondering - what are the benefits of choosing the pension plan over a normal MMF - over the same period of time? Lets say i keep the same deposits lets say 30 years...how will these compare in pension funds and MMF? Someone would say - for MMF - i have better control of my funds?

    • @susan.wanjiku_
      @susan.wanjiku_  4 месяца назад +11

      Pension Funds have Tax Advantages because they are long-term. With an MMF you will end up paying so much Withholding Tax, because it’s deducted monthly from the interest you earned.

    • @annettemusabi8851
      @annettemusabi8851 4 месяца назад

      When funds are long term they give the investment manager an opportunity to invest in assets which may not give returns in the short term but over the long term they outperform the short term investments @@susan.wanjiku_

      Also MMF you can be tempted to withdraw some amount since you have access to your funds anytime.

      Invest at a rate higher than that of inflation. If inflation in Kenya is at 7%, make sure your investments give you a return that is higher than 7% in order to get compensated for inflation.
      A good Pension Fund, for example, will give you an interest rate between 9-12% per annum

    Susan talk about pension fund in MMF funds. do they offer the same service you are talking about like guranteed pension fund or Annuity, or are there risk factors in opening a pension fund in MMF

    • @susan.wanjiku_
      @susan.wanjiku_  4 месяца назад +2

      A Pension Fund and a Money Market Fund (MMF) are two different products. They may be offered by the same company but they are different investment products that serve different purposes. A Pension Fund is for retirement savings while a MMF is for short-term to medium term savings for life goals such as an Emergency Fund, School Fees, Projects, etc. You cannot use one to replace the other.
