      You want the wire going to your inverter to be fused in case there is a short a long the way

      But the original comment is not dumb. If you wire direct to battery.. u woud not need one if it was already built in.. if it is connectet through a switch panel (if the panel dont have fuses) u need it. But if the panel has fuses before the switch.. it would be wate to add a secondary fuse on the same cable 🤣 as long it dosent have the chance to jump over to the rest of the system its okei..
      Me personally have panel with fuses, nothing goes direct on battery. Everything goes through fuses on the panel. And even if my battery short.. it will blow all fuses in the panel, and everything would be dead... no fire... or at least it shoud not. Haha.
      But ofc the safest to do is always to add a fuse to the fat red cable to your battery.. this way it cant go wrong. And it will be a much smaller job to fix problem if u have a short... so yes im also gonna install one.
      I dont need it, but i want it for convinience if all hell breaks lose

      It's not a dumb question, but it's a similar question as why wouldn't it just come with its own battery? You're buying a DIY solution as opposed to a meticulously made jakery or bluetti system.
      This gives you more control of what you want to do and doesn't charge you out the bumb for all the tiny little features if you're capable of doing them yourself.
      There are some other reasons but I consider this the most practical answer to your question, which is a great, valid question.

    • @ClappOnUpp
      @ClappOnUpp 5 месяцев назад +1

      Let me just add on to that, as an electrical professional, there's a lot of systems that we use that could come with more built in, but these guys make a lot of money charging for the same equipment they've been making years and years and years😂
      They think "if it ain't broke don't fix it.. just charge more"

  • @Ess_Chalk
    @Ess_Chalk 2 года назад +3

    Just keep in mind that your cabling is matched to the power draw of the inverter and the fuse or circuit breaker is matched with the size and length of the cable to protect it in case of a short.
    I'm not sure about the smaller diameter negative cable - my understanding of electrical theory is that the smaller negative cable will bottleneck the circuit.
    Also, if you're using a crappy lithium battery with a BMS that sometimes trips under the load of a blender starting up, then an easy-to-reset circuit breaker that caps the possible inverter power draw a bit is much easier than getting external power to the battery to reset the BMS, especially in a camper.

    • @plokijij7856
      @plokijij7856 Год назад +2

      These kings batteries have a 100ah max continuous discharge and 160ah 10 second max pulse discharge so not so crappy compared to 90% of other lithium batteries on the market so could probably handle your blender start up !

    • @Ess_Chalk

      @@michaelsrowland 500W / 12V = 41.7A, for which 6G should be perfect and have some headroom to minimise voltage drop in case the inverter is not right next to the battery. You can Google "Cable Ampacity" if you want to work this out in future.

      Hi,
      All of the Kings inverters comply with AS/NZS 4763:2011 Safety of portable inverters and both the Black and Bluie 1500W are awesome units. The blue model offers two outlets (though still only rated to a maximum of 1500W combined) and works with the Kings inverter remote, plus it's aligned with the 500W and 3000W models. but in terms of overall, they're very similar.
      Plenty of people still use the black one with zero worries, so if you're happy with it, there's no need to upgrade!
