    Great review, very practical and helpful. I bought one of these with little to no expectations. I was originally looking on ebay at inverters and the comments were very average. Have just tried it out with my caravan setup and it works great! Currently running off a 100ah Ritar AGM battery, connected to a 160w solar panel. Tried all the following appliances on one charge:
    - 700W Bodum Kettle - Boiled water twice
    - 870W Kmart Toaster - Used 3 times
    - 1250W Breville Nesspresso Coffee Machine - used 3 times
    - 450W Frother - used 3 times
    - 1250W Nespresso and 450W Frother - used once together
    - 700W Kettle and 870W Toaster - used once together
    Lastly, I plugged in the Kettle I originally had in the van rated between 1850~2200W and it worked as well! Finished boiling! Very surprised!
    On top of all this I also had all the caravan LED strip lighting, TV and Stereo going... Battery was down to 11.4v after all that testing. Very impressed.
    Will have to put it through another test run and see if the solar can bring the battery back up to capacity for a type day of usage. Next upgrade will definately be a 200ah Lithium battery.

      Mate I’m considering one of these but a couple of queries….you mentioned 100ah AGM (not lithium), you did all that testing and the voltage was at 11.4v. Isn’t this well past threshold for an AGM, potentially damaging it? When I camp I need the Friday’s to run for 2-3 days. Worried that running a pod machine and frothed 1-2 times a day would not leave me enough juice even with a panel…interested in your thoughts mate..have to go lithium otherwise…whoops sorry didn’t see post was 2 yo 😂

      @@Portyhouse it probably wasnt ideal getting the battery so low. Since then, i have upgraded my setup with 2 120ah lithium batteries. Seems to work well. Runs everything i need while camping. Even runs my Dometic ibis4 ac unit.
      Next will be another 800w of solar to offset the use of the ac during the day so it can be used to intially cool the caravan down.

    Great video mate. I think you have done Kings a favour. This unit is on my buying list after being ripped off . Stay away from Flamezum, you will not get anywhere near their stated power rating without the unit tripping. RUclips is full of videos of poor quality inverter issues. At least through an Australian supplier like Kings they will try and receive a reasonable quality from their Chinese suppliers. They will do this as they are selling in an Australian market and its guys like you that keep Kings honest.

    Awsome video and review. I did purchase one before seeing your review, along with 160W solar panel, 115Ah Lead acid AGM, battery box and MPPT controller from Kings. When I tested it just used a portable radio that runs off 240VAC and then a small LED lamp that has a mains plug pack. Both kept cutting out and the red light came on and unit beeped. However when I disconnected the MPPT it worked fine. Looking at the specs, discovered "High voltage Battery shutdown range is 15.5V - 14.5V for this unit. The MPPT from Kings measures about 16V on the battery connection terminals; I believe this is causing the cutout issue with the inverter. I am looking at using for off grid lighting , a radio and maybe small power tools in our shed. But I may have to rethink as this MPPT cannott be used for this application. I do have a 30A PWM so I will trial that when it stops raining!!! Cheers and thanks again for a great review.

    Did trial inverter again with Jaycar 30A PWM charge controller and the system works, so now I know I can run a fan, some low voltage lighting, radio and possibly the little Waeco 24L fridge and occasional power tool! I just managed to run the 1100W toaster no problems! May even be able to use both controllers with switches in place so can maximize charging when inverter not in use.

    Kings have released a new model 1500w.... A bit smaller but a touch heavier. Flat front. I took a punt and purchased one.
    1250w coffee machine, no probs, 117A from a lithium.
    Next I tried a 1500w airfryer. Ran fine drawing 144a until air fryer reached temp. (4a draw when it reached temp)
    I then tried the 1250w coffee machine and the 500w milk frother at the same time. Clamp meter showed 171A. It ran for 15-20 sec beeping. then shut down. For $233 not too bad.
    I guess now to see how long it lasts for.

    My Chinese inverter shit itself after running 24/7 for around 2 years. (the one that nearly caught fire!)

    My 2 Lead Acid batts with 1500w PSW OSP Tiger Claw powers 1200 watt hair dryer, no problem... also 850 watt power consumption 600w output Haier Microwave oven, (not at the same time of course)... no problems. Working for 7 years. Same batts... Two 95ah LES SCHWAB SLA RV deep cycle batts... you need TWO batteries for ANYTHING over 1000watts...if you want any runtime with THESE type of batts. ONE 100AH AGM with1300 watt microwave...ran for 90 seconds...made ONE hotdog... but not 2 in a row... voltage drop... TWO batts... LESS voltage drop... I get 25 minutes runtime down to 10.5v before shut off... the more batts you have in parallel the less voltage drop, the more robust the system. I plan a 6-7 battery setup for my truck eventually.
    But his DCS Lithium batt is definitely robust...200ah, with little to no voltage drop. Can sustain a 200a draw??????? Beyond awesome!!!! When I run the microwave on my 2 batt system at full charge. 13.6 volt DROPS to about 12 or less. His doesn't seem to even budge!!! Way more efficient... but that batt costs 2,300 AUD... on the DCS site... bit over my budget. And I won't be using anywhere near 150A...

    Nice review. As we all know Kings don't make anything they are just a retailer that slaps a label on cheap stuff. As others have stated would be interesting after a long term review. One concern would be the quality of the pure sine wave power. Dirty power would damage laptops and other delicate electronics.

      I'd love to see someone put an oscilloscope on a bunch of different sine wave inverters under different loads and see how clean (and sine-like) they are. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of crossover between the Electrical Engineers and 4x4 sides of RUclips.

    • @dingodazz3724
      @dingodazz3724 3 года назад

      Almost all electronics that use a transformer convert the output voltage to DC (Direct Current) as opposed to AC (Alternating Current) and as such are not really affected by "dirty power", and if it is a Switch Mode transformer (like as used on laptops) then they are better again as the output has better regulation and is less susceptible to input voltage fluctuations. Hope this helps.

    Great Video mate. Thanks, it has answered a few questions for me. Slightly different set up in mine: twin 100AH DCS-LITHIUMs linked, and running to the power board with massive 19mm or 0/1 AWG gauge wire. Same Inverter linked straight to the bats via a shunt with other auxiliaries from linked fuse box. I run the twin makita charger in the back, as all tools are also makita 👍👍😂including the chainsaw. Mine copes with the drone bats, twin makita batts at once, and a FLIR thermal imager charger, all with no issues. It will also run a 1200w hairdryer, but dies on full heat setting. I have the same coffee machine you tested, no issue with the milk frother but the coffee machine is the limit... turns on, heats water, disperses about 20ml of coffee and then the inverter dies... that’s it... caput. I was wondering this aswell as the instruction video is different to the instruction manual. The manual says you wire it straight to the battery with the cables provided, no fuse or circuit braker needed. I just called kings customer service and she said follow the videos instructions but also said if you follow the instruction Manual and it breaks I still wouldn't have done anything wrong as I was still following the provided instructions. So in short do either but if you feel more comfortable with having a circuit braker or fuse may aswell use one for piece of mind I guess.

    My Kings inverter makes a very quiet buzzing noise when turned on, even with no AC load. This noise increases in volume until it's easily audible, though still quite quiet as an AC load is applied. With a large ac load it can be heard from across the room. Should I be worried or is this normal for pure sine wave inverters?

      @Amandaandglenn2023 4 года назад

      @@Australian4x4Adventures been running 2x 100ah AGMs for 3 years and yes they do and with ease. Respectfully, you really need to research battery characteristics before making bold statements which will end up causing you embarrassment.
      Lithium's main advantage over AGM (other than weight) is that you can safely go to a depth of discharge of 90% to 100% depending on variables unlike AGM's 50%. The difference in charge profiles between the two is also negligible.
      In terms of supplying 167amps, (assuming 2000W @ 12 Volts), both are equally up to the task. Lithium simply does it for longer.
      The Lithium may provide double the useable Ah; but bang for buck for the price of a 100ah lithium battery, you could have a bank of AGMs that far exceeds lithium in useable Ah.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  4 года назад +2

      No. I’ll still stand by my statement.
      Just because an AGM will hold 160 amp for 5 mins does not make usable.
      The voltage would drop to a point where the inverter would shut down and re set.
      Yes it may start up again but would be frustrating to say the least.
      As far as pricing goes.
      200 amp DCS-LITHIUM $2000
      You would need 400 amps AGM to have similar capacity. Average 100 amp AGM is around $300 for a good brand.
      So $1200 plus some sort of DC charger to be able to charge them.
      Lithium can be charged straight off the alternator.
      So price isn’t much difference at all when adding it all up.
      But a massive disadvantage would be weight and overall size required to house them.
