I came here for the sheer wonder of watching someone build a _freaking_ PLANE and stay for the problem solving, life lessons, kindness and respectfulness that is evident in every video. I hope all your landings are soft and you don’t stress the harnesses. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💚
I'm just now beginning my 1550V V-Max build, and already your videos are invaluable to me. You show the process details and decisions required. You make it clear through your excellent commentary and demonstrations that planning the sequence of steps is perhaps as important as the workmanship. You show that mistakes will be made, they are not to be feared, and that there is a solution for every one of them. It's encumbant of each of us builders to acquire the knowledge and experience necessary from a variety of sources and to do what it takes. I know my build will be all the better for your dedication to bringing this information to all those who need and want it. Congratulations on what I consider to be a great resource in these videos; I'll be referring to them often. I second many of the other comments that you should just keep doing what you're doing in these videos; they're simply fantastic. Carry on.
I love your videos exactly as they are Dennis & I never skip any of them as this will be the first Minimax I've ever seen get built & I love the way you go through the whole process for anyone who is interested in building planes (even R/C one's like myself) Thank you for sharing what you do! It's coming along so good! at the end my brain started playing Ray Charles "Shake your Tail Feathers" Ha ha!
Thanks for sharing you build. I find all your videos interesting. I was late to the party so haven't see the wing builds but I do intend going back to watch. I'm a wannabe builder but don't have any plans in the pipeline to build anything any time soon. I have watched Zenith, Sling & Vans builds and yours was the first wooden construction I came across, just pipping Algy. I find all your videos very easy to follow. I do watch every minute of how you do some of the more complicated/intricate things, but do find I fast forward some of the repetition, but go back if I think I may have missed some of your "waffle". I think we all appreciate the time & effort that you are putting into creating the videos and I have no problem with the format or length. I would prefer you spend more time in building than producing cinematic masterpieces. My "waffle" is over, now get on and finish this bird, we need to see her in the skies!
We do need to see her in the skies!!! I’m glad you are following on and finding some value. I’m looking forward to Algy’s build when he gets it cranked up. Building a plane is such a rewarding experience! I hope you get the opportunity to build one. I’ve been wondering what Gavin is up to with his Sonex B build.
Man, i love your vid series, and the details there in. Always somebody ready to show what an a-hole they are by opening their mouth and criticizing. Where is their channel? You're doing the work and the effort to make these videos. They probably don't do anything but flap their useless gums. Keep posting in your style. Its great and greatly appreciated by many.
While I am not building a Mini Max, I believe I am probably a good example of the value of what you are doing. In April I will begin building a Super Koala! It will be my first airplane and I will be building it from a kit. Even so, the stuff you show us is incredibly important. I discovered your channel about a month ago and have been binge watching from the beginning. DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING!
You are doing a fine job with the videos of the build. A&P/IA life member EAA and my favorite A/C to is a 7AC Champ. Just keep what you are doing . thanks
I enjoyed working with that horizontal and vertical stab, at your point in the build. Do remember diligently measuring and installing those support struts. Note: Later on, after covering, and "going flying," I hardly ever took off the vertical stab. Never seemed to be in the way. :) Looks extremely nice Dennis. P.S. Think I remember something about it being hard to gain access to the self-locking nut and bolt, at the top junction. Can't remember, for sure, what it was.
I know to get to that control cable mount the stab has to come off. I’ll probably safety wire those back there. Did you put in an inspection plate to see that area? This is definitely a fun part of the build.
Well Dennis people can vote with their feet as they say, if they don't like your videos that is their choice, I think they are good to show how easy the MiniMax is to build and your tips are good and cost effective. I fully agree building and editing takes time and I think your method has a good balance, I will be changing my format a bit when I get fully into my build, as like you I don't want to trade build time to video edit.
So true! I’m really looking forward to your build! The Dakota Hawk is on my short list as you know. I just think that plane with a Corvair would be an awesome combination.
Hi Dennis. I love the videos! Your calm, relaxed demeanor is soothing. I was originally going to build a Mini-Max but yesterday came upon a smokin' deal on a Thatcher CX-4 kit with an engine. This has a 0% wood content, well maybe the throttle and trim knobs. I will continue to follow your progress and am looking forward to your first flight. I'm not sure if I'm going to video my build but if I do I'll let you know.
I have seen, I think. everyone of your videos at least once. I am building a minimax as well. Unfortunately, not in the sequence you are If I had; I could of made my build easier and it would of allowed me to avoid some of my mistakes Please keep going Everything you have offered has been both valuable, enjoyable and inspiring for me to keep with my build. Your are very much appreciated here Thanks!!!!!
@@DTMinimax I was fortunate enough to meet him on several occasions when I was building my 103, as his shop was less than an hour from my home back then. I actually took delivery of my kit in a pickup truck, directly from his shop. I owned a retail business at the time, and he came to both my store, and the local airport, to check on my build on occasion. He was a genuinely nice guy who sold kits for the love of the airplane, far more than for the money.
Dennis, as I approach sixty years of age, one thing I've learned is that this world is full of toxic, vindictive, mean-spirited people that have nothing better to do than to gripe about everything. Years ago, I started putting such people out of my life for good. As a result, I don't have many people left in my life, but at least the ones I do have are people I can count on - a bit of loneliness is a small price to pay for peace. That said, if it is possible to do so, I recommend you simply ban such people from commenting on your site - or at least, simply delete such comments. I wish your videos had been available when I was building. I've learned countless little tricks and tips from you that would have saved me many hours of work. Just keep up the good work, and ignore the trolls!
Hey Michael! That’s exactly what I did and I’m glad RUclips gives that control to block someone from posting. Thanks for confirming that I am accomplishing my goals here!
@@DTMinimax You're most welcome. You're providing a most valuable service to anyone building a wood and fabric aircraft, and to those of us vicariously reliving our past builds. From all us, we thank you...

I am going to use Stewart Systems for the glue and then Acrylic exterior paint for the rest
