When you've done enough to know what a 3KT -should- be able to delete but it isn't doing that anymore. Sometimes, in the early days, you might be at the Polish stage before you can see (CHECK YOUR WORK after each step to know its time to move to next step) that you need to touchup BEFORE CC. Only experience helps, maybe hit a local auto recycler and practice... they usually don't mind, especially if they have a gate fee for entry.
How long would it take for the spray coating to dry if you don’t have access to fans blowing on them like you do? Can you do it without the fans? I understand the fans just speed up the drying process. Thanks in advance! Great video as always!
After using this method for over a year in many conditions (hot/sunny, gloomy/cool, evening/moisture), its best with dead summer heat, or air drying for about 10 minutes outside with little to no moisture. Any moisture while curing, or spraying them at night makes it hard for it to harden and can harden with moisture spots into the coating and needs them to be redone. If you can, wipe dry the following morning and coat them as the sun comes out.
Hi, I was just wondering about the headlight coating at the end . Do you need to mask up more of the car to stop it from getting on paint work ? Never used it before don't want to damage my paint ?
covered in many vids but maybe not so specifically as you'd like (or for me the first 20-30 vids I watched) but upshot is this particularly product comes with very tight direction spray combined with consistency of CC so that you can get away without more masking in -most- cases. Always good to keep 6 inch masking for the breezy locations and/or special vehicles.... can always wipe off right away as well. Watch more vids for more specific details... now that you're thinking of it, you'll likely catch it in the vids when mentioned.
Quick question. What is the type of product you are using for that final buff/polish before you wipe with the microfiber cloth??? I just ordered all the other stuff, but wasn't sure about the compound used before the Meguire's.
Hey brother, good to see another great video! I have a question, a customer asked me to do his tail lights next week and I was just going to do it exactly like I do the headlights, using your method, is that how you would do them? They're just a solid red light on a 2003 GMC Sierra....
You can, but tail lights are a little bit different than the front. For tail lights, any rubbing compound and polish will do the trick with a polisher.
You don't need that Meguiars spray BS because tail lights are Acrylic not Polycarbonate like headlights, so they never change color. And don't be so sold on everything he says and does, because 2 years of experience does not make one an expert, but he thinks he is.
@karkule5919 Just so you know, I've been doing headlight restorations for about 15 years, but just recently started doing them using his method, I used to do them using a wet sand method, using a wipe on clearcoat, the headlights would look good, sometimes great but not always consistent. Ever since I started using his method, they are consistently amazing! When I first started watching his videos, I would kind of think the same thing, that he doesn't know everything, but I decided to try it, and it's always perfect. generally speaking, IF you stick to the steps AND find your depth with each step, even when lights have diff level of damage, you will get the same result, 2 reasons I can think of are 1) is the foggy -inside- the lens... burn from prior overheating (you gotta look closely and diff angles but fairly easy to spot. 2) Early on it is easy to take a rigid approach... meaning, 3xP500, 1xP800... etc, but this rigid approach doesn't allow for varying damage, back to comment 1 and finding your depth properly, not how many discs of each grit are used. as with any business/service, setting customer expectations is critical. You can be sure there is -always- a chance that older, very damaged lights will have some burn inside. I always inform the customer up front that this is a possible outcome (and very easy to prove that its inside, even using thumbnail on lens (BEFORE CC) and see the depth of the lens between nail and the burn) and then you won't be on the defensive if they are burned, and if they're not burned, let customer know they dodged a bullet so they need to be sure to call you immediately once they notice damage returning... you get a happy customer and a repeat customer 1-3yrs down the road. I don't now about you, but I never lead a customer to think that I can perform miracles with internal damage - I simply won't open a light for anyone, even myself.

The polisher is too high RPM for sanding, you would literally melt the plastic and destroy the sanding disc. Use a drill with 1200- 4000 rpm only when sanding, and a drill doesn't have enough speed to polish. Just get both, you won't be sorry. Oh and Milwaukee makes a dang good high speed mini polisher just like the Delco, but having the same batteries is way better than having two different brands

No wonder so many of them are crying that they can't get any jobs. And look how many WOMEN buy the kit and do it themselves and post the videos, are you telling me they have skills...?? If anyone can do it, IT IS NOT A SKILL.

Because the polisher is 12000 rpm, the drill he uses for sanding is like 3000-6000 rpm
@@adamwing9301 kind of, drill is 0-1800ish rpm while polisher is 0-7000ish, and yes, it matters but you have to watch vids to learn why.

Covered in a TON of vids. Short answer: speed/heat. Long answer: watch more vids.

Looking for all the help I can get, what is better than his drill, cheers
@@karkule5919hi I was thinking a smaller drill the size of his polisher would be easier to control
Thanks for your information I really appreciate it
@@karkule5919thanks again , I have a jag xkr and the lights have white patches and little hair line cracks in the coating, I have never done a set of lights before but am well used to drilling and sanding and I’ve got hold of an old set of lights to practice on,so wish me luck and thanks for your help
