Thanks for the video! We set up flaperons on my 13yr. old sons FT Bushwacker. Btw guys "previous" video is how to set up dual ailerons. Just do a search! Thanks bro!
I don’t know if you are familiar with glider with ailerons and motor set up on the NX10 I like to use the the ailerons as flaps also and use the motor on a switch and the throttle stick for flaps.
You would need to separate the ailerons on 2 channels.Enable flaperons. Motor on a switch would need to be a mix. Thr > Thr Rates (Percentage of throttle you want) Switch: Assign Switch you want to toggle throttle Then you would need 2 mixes for ailerons to work on throttle. (RAIL and LAIL)
@@BDTennessee The glider does have separate channels for the ailerons but the NX8 does not have Flaperons. that's why i was wondering if this can be done on this radio.I might just have to buy the NX10 which does have flaperons unless you know a way to do it on the NX8. Thanks for responding.
@@mikercflyer7383 NX8 does have flaperons when using 2 Ail configuration for wing type. Set plane up using aircraft type:airplane instead of sail plane. When you go into flap system menu, assign switch, adjust values and ailerons will come down like flaps.
@@BDTennessee Typically we use thrutle stick for flaps on gliders this way you bring them down proportionally so I need motor on a switch. Thanks for your help.May be you can figure it out and Ill copy your program.
I keep going back to your tutorials on the Spektrum radios. They make so much more sense than trying to read the manual. It also helps that I've got the same NX10. I hope to say thanks in person if you're at the KCRC Fun Fly on 7/30.
Bud need some help, just updated my AR8360T in my eflite F16 80mm Thunderbird, that was flying fine with the radio set up prior, but after the AX3S plus upgrade, (nx8 radio also at 4.0), when I bond the receiver only the left Aileron would move, and the right up and down with flap only. Per book wings set at one Aileron one flap. When I set it to Flaperons they operate backwards to control, I reversed the servos but the flaps worked backwards. I've tried everything I can think of, but just can get it to operate correctly. Any Ideas?
Change to Flaperons. Reverse channels in Servo setup to make operate correctly. Change the value in flaps from negative to positive value or vice versa.
Perfect! Just fixin to start on a 1/4 scale Kitfox build & Soaking up flaperon knowledge, because I have zero. That and the last time I flew RC, the most technical part was putting the correct crystals in. I just spent an entire day locating the serial number on my new NX8 so I could register. Watched a dozen vids before I found your series which actually has the answers I need. Thank you!
just started with a NX8 thanks. worked like charm now there is also an option in the new firmware to link the speed setting on all positions so its needs only to be set once
Thank you very helpful. I have a glider with only motor, rudder, and elevator along WITH SPOILERS How do I set this up? I set it up with airplane type Sailplane /Motor wing type aileron Whats the proper way of doing this. Hello BD, can I expand the available positions for the Flap System on my hotliner glider? Currently, I have a three-position switch for Speed, Thermal, and Crow Braking. I'm looking to incorporate a fourth position for a clean wing. Any guidance on how to achieve this would be appreciated. Thanks again for your videos.
@BDTennessee In speed flight mode. Ailerons and flaps have 1 mm of reflex In a clean fight mode. Ailerons and flaps are neutral. Prefer one switch for flap system, but I'll try two switches
Did u do a trainer video? (If not, would you PLEASE!?!?!). I'm trying to get a new pilot flying with our group. (We r not a club. A few friends that love to fly! 👍). Very informative vids u have done sir! I applaud YOU!
Great video! Question .. let’s say you have the flaperons down... can you set the aileron travel limits that only apply with flaperons down to keep servo from hitting its max travel limit?
When you set the rates (D/R screen) that will be max travel with flaperons too. When you set the rates in flap system to bring the ailerons down for flaperons, think of it as a new neutral point but travels same. (example) 100% rate for ailerons. 35% for flap system rate. It will travel remaining 65% not 100%.
Very good tutorial! I see that this set up seems to be for a plane that doesn't have flaps already. I have the Viper 90mm and I see Jon (Two Brothers RC) using his flaps and using his ailerons as spoilerons together. How would that be set up? I purchased the AR8360T in order to do this but I want to make sure I do it right.
Yes, when setup that way its called crow. You have to separate the ailerons channels like in video (spoilers) and configure flaps. Flap system with give you the option in a 3rd column or make a separate free mix.
First Thanks for all the videos, they are great source for people like me, new in the hobby, let me ask you, I have a few planes like the Conscendo Evolution which is equipped with with AR637TA, the receiver has two channels available but I understand that those are used by the Safe and ASX3, and I do not like to lost those, but I like to set-up spoilers to be able to reduce the speed at landing, is anyway for me to be able to do that? Or the only way to have booth is change the receiver for AR8360T with 8 channels? Thanks in advance.
Depends on the radio you have. Setup ailerons on Channel 2 for Right Aileron and Channel 6 for Left Aileron. This needs to be done in RX port assignment in system settings. If you got NX8 or NX10 you can setup the 6 channels for control surfaces and put Safe/AS3X modes on Channel 7-9. Its configured through Forward Programming. If you have NX6 you still can setup all 6 channels and it has a extra channel to assign AS3X/Safe. (NX6 is like a 6.5 channel :) )
@@BDTennessee i have NX10, the same that you are using on your videos, I know how to set-up the alerones on an independent channel, but I will not be sure how to set up the safe and AS3X with the forward programming, could you please point me how to do that? Thanks so much

GREAT video BD. I have one question. After I did the Flaperons on my plane, everything worked perfectly except SAFE on the aileron on aux 1. Is there a way to program SAFE into the new aileron port?

I've heard different reports on whether I can get flaperons to work with safe-select, so I figure this is a good place to ask. Is it just the receivers from BNF planes that I can't put flaperons and safe on? Would I be able to setup safe with flaperons (or other configs) on stand alone receivers like the 630/631/637T and the 8360T?
BNF receivers can be set for flaperons. However only one wing will have AS3X. HH Reps have confirmed that one wing as enough authority to correct plane tho. You can unlock them and then get full range of AS3X. If you buy one of the shelf, then no issue. If you have a NX6 or higher, you can have 6 channels and Safe.
