The VAST majority of developers are never able to get their game off the ground. And of the ones who do grit and push through to release often disband immediately after. Hopefully more people putting money into the industry will help prop up indie devs to become more self-sufficient, and keep on developing!!

Honestly when I first found out about Dunkey's publishing stuff and people making a big deal out of a RUclipsr publishing games I instantly thought of you! Your company has already published one of my favourite games: Dead Estate and I've been super hyped about Fancy Pants and Picayune Dreams!

Just wanted to say Dead Estate is a masterpiece so far. Wonderful roguelite that's been so much fun to play on the steamdeck, and surprisingly calls back to old PC games like head over heels. Massive congrats on the success and looking forward to all the other 2 Left Thumbs releases!

Its actually insane that you have over 100K subscribers and manage to have indie publishing company. I know RUclipsrs start their own publishing companies but at least they have over a million subscribers to announce it. In a way it’s a compliment since you’re the very few youtuber to have a publishing companies with over 100K subs.
Let more people publish more good, no, great games to indie publishers so they can make great games.
More subscribers/followers would certainly help! But it's also fairly uncharted territory. So far I've made it work, and am hopefully showing you don't *need* millions of followers to take that leap

Unfortunately, no. That is a cool thing that Bigmode appears to be offering! And I think that's really smart, to create a network of developers who can potentially help each other out. But I feel that'd be a bit too much for myself to manage.

I really love his videos, both the comedic and earnest. I do agree with a lot of his gaming opinions - and while I don't agree with them all - I respect his consistency, and honesty about the genres and styles he simply doesn't like.
I saw Yongyea talk about Dunkey and the first thing I thought was "I remember this game, Dead Estate, let's look for 2 Left Thumbs" and I am late to the fun it seems :D

of course, now the only worry is them getting bought up in the future, but that's a long way off xD
If Newgrounds were to offer to buy me tomorrow, I'd probably say yet. Otherwise I don't see a scenario where I'd want to sell out. It'd have to be a BIG offer to compromise what I want to achieve with this publishing label :)

I'm glad there are more independent game publishers looking to produce great games for me to enjoy, and I wish you the best of luck! Publishing games must be a lot of work, and I salute anyone who is trying to bring some bangers to the gaming table. However; the approach of this advertisement- to create a "competition" with Dunkey did nothing but confuse and soil the interest I have in these games. Even though the tone of the video was somewhat joking around- the contrast between this video, and Dunkey's BigMode video have never been clearer. In Dunkey's video I was able to not only see, but FEEL the passion for Dunk's and Leaha's games, and my anticipation for whatever BigMode will push out has never been higher- I don't even know the games yet, but Dunkey has been consistently highlighting great ass games and putting them on the map for the gaming community as a whole- and I'm excited that they will now be more involved in the process.
In comparison; this video highlighted a passion for... being a games publisher. Which again is a great- and highly ambitious thing you are doing: however; I wasn't able to feel any genuine anticipation for most of the games being put on display here. The message was muddled in the whole "2 Left vs BeegMode" narrative being pushed for views and attention- which I get is your marketing strategy, but I wasn't able to feel any genuine anticipation for these games. All the games being published here got left with a brief summary- and the six games highlighted are squeezed into the last minute of the video. As a consumer- no hype was built for me personally- except for Beloved Rapture- which I searched up on steam & downloaded the demo for because it looks like Chrono Trigger & I love that game. For game developers- I don't know why they would want to work with 2 left thumbs: and why should they? If they are going to share one minute of your 3 minute video focusing on their games- I'd personally hope to get published elsewhere- and while sometimes you have to take what you can get- and that may speak to the quality of the games in of itself, maybe? I don't know I'll need to try this demo out, but do you get what I'm saying? This approach seems to be more for views and money (which is important), rather than a genuine interest in games- which I'm sure the creator has.
Which is why I wrote this all out. I personally just want great games to be released, and publishers play a huge role in that. 2 Left Thumbs definitely has a passion for games if this is the line of work they're in-- that just does not come across at all in this video. My suggestions would be to focus on the aspects of the game which really clicked with you (as the video creator) and prioritize that. Forget what BigMode is doing as both BigMode & 2 Left Thumbs can co-exist here, and just produce some great games! Thanks for reading- peace ^3^
Totally fair! It's always useful to hear how a video is perceived. Honestly, this video was made in one afternoon to see if I could ride some of the BigMode hype. Dunkey has a HUGE following. While I don't like to be a coattail rider, it was intended to be a video he himself might get a laugh out of, and I hoped that might sort of cancel-out that side of it. The fact that this was uploaded immediately after Dunkey's video sort of lost it's impact within just a few days.
It didn't really work, and it's not an angle I intend to continue playing up moving forward. My focus will be on the game's themselves. And any promotion done for the publishing brand, will only be done to hopefully further the reach I have in promoting the games themselves.
I started a separate channel for publishing related pursuits. And at some point there, I intend to make something more akin to a proper mission statement, and doing a better job of highlighting the games themselves :)

This is to say that I was wrong about you and passed judgment much to soon. I’m really excited for more of your games as time has passed, especially the one reminiscent of an old school violent stick man flash games.

Honestly Dunkey pretty much said he wants to micromanage developers. So you're already the better publisher.
Providing feedback is great! Having an extra head in the mix to help identify what is/isn't working can be invaluable to a team of any size. And I think he has a GREAT eye for quality design. I suppose it'll come down to whether he itends to guide, or *control* ?
