Is the Fed not a national bank?
Jimmy Hoover not necessarily. The fed is a non-centralized, meaning, it is not a part of the central government. A-political. Plus, its job is not the same as the banks in the past. It does not hold national debt like the original national banks (the us treasury, and the bureau of public debt hold national debt). What the fed does do, similarly to the old national banks is Control monetary supply. They print the dollars and choose how much to print. But beyond that, the fed also controls monetary policy by controlling the national interest rate. So, really, the only thing the fed does that classifies it as a "national bank" based on the old interpretation of a national bank, is that it prints money.
