My first job was at Gorski’s. My grandmother called in a favor to her good friend Jane Gorski and I was working as a bagger shortly after just barely 15 at the time with a worker’s permit. Julian took me under his wing and taught me about business. I still use much of what he taught me many years back. This video brought back some very happy memories.
Gorski's was the go to store for most of the residents. Unfortunately, Roselle lost Pick-Kwik and Gorski's to condos and parking lots. Also, the 7-11 was great for the one or two items that we all needed from time to time. That is gone also. And, we can't forget the Rose Restaurant that was right next to Gorski's. Great small restaurant with booths and a counter, especially for breakfast.
@@davekent20 Yes they were. In my opinion the village was a great place to live back then. Those were the days when the village was geared to the residents. Remember when Jewel was on Lawrence just off of Irving Park? It's been a number of restaurants/bars since then.

Now…we sadly lost Butera, we basically have no grocers left. Montrose is just not the same.
That’s my grocery store if my childhood. Right across the street from my mom’s business. No squirrel
I miss that store. I miss Pik Kwik too. 😞
