Friends sets have figures in bikinis, so I didn't think they'd ban the figure forever. I bet they just call her "Princess Leia". I don't think an adjective is needed
@@studebricker2845Lego didn't even call her Slave Leia in 2013. The front of the box literally said Princess Leia. It's a non argument. They've never called her Slave Leia. The name is made up by fans.
@@Jakes_Bricks_and_PicsThat's not what I said. I'm saying your statement that no adjective is needed is flawed because Princess is indeed an adjective. Just found it funny you argued against yourself LOL As for the Slave Leia term, yes, I know it is mainly used by fans. But people recently are pushing this alternative huttslayer term that no one asked for.
I don't believe that cancelling names of ships, like Slave I, or entire characters, like bikini Leia, is a good thing. It's like they are erasing parts of our past lives from some unjustified moral 'high ground' point of view. I for one, will be glad when she returns :)
I would also add that I would never use Disney's "approved" term huttslayer because you are basically agreeing with them that saying "slave" is bad. Her costume has been referred to as the Slave Leia outfit since the 90s at least.
The figs aren't going to be any cheaper though since they'll be in a $500 set. A NISB 75020 is about $400 on the low end. I guess it all depends on how well the minifigs are done for the UCS if the value of any of the old ones will go down. I think your Leia investment is pretty safe.
after release of ucs tie interceptor i was like : yeah maybe this one? But then i realized i always loved jabba sail barge for some reason and i always wanted to get one, also it is in a minifigure scale so thats what important for me since i have ucs mf, at at and razor crest, so it would look better than the ucs interceptor.
Something tells me that if they're rebranding the name to "huttslayer" then they likely won't be making her with the iconic outfit. Because if they are skating around the name, Something tells me they'll probably try to skate around the controversial source material.
It's sad that Disney seems to act like slavery never happened, hasn't been happening up until this day (even though it's been banned in some places) and is a thing that shouldn't be talked about or even mentioned.
I hope we get another Huttslayer Leia 3.75 inch action figure in Hasbro's Star Wars Vintage Collection then. I'm wondering if Disney realizes this figure will make them some money, so they brought it back into circulation?
I’ve been wishing for a UCS Sail Barge for what seems like forever. If it’s as good in detail and has the wow factor like the AT-AT then it’s going to be a day 1 purchase for me.
I am so excited for this. I almost bought a used one but now I will wait for this one. Great take and video. Day one for me especially since the GWP will be Luke’s lightsaber.
Day 1 for sure!! Skipping out on the 2012 play set version for the UCS? 🤯🤯 Major size difference there!! But I suppose that’s what I’ll be doing too instead of completing my used one. I’m excited to see how detailed this set is 😁
This whole thing is dumb. She has always been called slave leia just like boba fett's ship has always been called slave one. And now they had to change it because we cant upset the snowflakes. Same thing with jabba's palace. The original set looked like that because it looked like that in the movie. Even brands have made and are still making jabba's palace.
I also bought the Leia minifig for a a lot of money because I thought that rumor was true! I didn’t think they would ever make it again. I’m excited to see this version ! Getting that set day one.
even if they change the name, glad disney didnt go full lame like they love to do, the character is a part of the saga and theres no changing that, wouldve felt weird excluding her in a scene she herself starred in.
It’s actually both. A parent complained to Disney cause he saw his daughter holding a Slave Leia doll which actually caused Disney to push back the Slave Leia stuff
Huttslayer is a stupid name. She isn’t in a bikini because that’s the outfit that best helped her slay Hutts. She was enslaved. Her enslavement helps to illustrate the brutality of Hutt and his evil. It is also an echo to historical accounts of warlord concubines. Star Wars is a fantasy story and Leia has always been a fantasy girl from an archetype standpoint. A Princess to be rescued in new hope. Her being sexualized is an adult continuation of her being a fantasy girl. Also, when she does kill Hutt, her killing of him is more vindicating because he was so evil to have enslaved her. He brought her status low but she raised up. However you feel about all of that, words have meaning and when you change words meaning is lost. Captive Leia or imprisoned Leia would hold that meaning better than Huttslayer Leia which is pretty generic in meaning. Sort of like calling her ‘Killing bad guy Leia’ which again robs the narrative of meaning.
I completely agree. I must admit I do like the name Huttslayer Leia or even just calling her LEIA!!! Somebody here mentioned that there’s no need to throw an adjective in the title. After all nobody felt the need to call Anakin or Shmi in episode I “slave Anakin” or “slave Shmi” because we already knew that that’s who they were. Throwing the name slave in the title is what sexualizes the character after that scene and takes away the power that she regained when she killed Jabba. That being said, you’re completely right that words have meaning and when you change words meaning is lost. I’m really irritated that they renamed slave one for this reason because Jango Fett named his ship this to remember HIS history as a slave, and Boba kept the name in order to honor him and his trials. It’s very significant to canon and changing it was just plain stupid. Leia’s outfit and moment in the movie shouldn’t be erased or even downplayed for the same reasons you’ve mentioned. Great take 🫡👏👏

Amazing!! I love that set, it was one of my white whales for Lego Star Wars. Still missing a few figures myself but I have Leia!! I agree, it’s a great set to build and display but also hold onto. After all it is still cheaper than the UCS!!
Never get what the controversy surrounding the Huttslayer Leia figure was?!? Sure it’s a revealing costume, but so is a swimsuit or a regular bikini! And if they’re gonna draw the line on a figure like Huttslayer Leia because it’s “too nude” wtf? Double standard much? I mean did we not get a “shower guy” minifigure in one of the CMFs a while back wearing nothing but a towel? So it’s ok to do a male minifigure basically naked (and if you take off the fabric towel piece he basically is naked with only some printed studs covering his “stud” 😂) but not Leia in a screen accurate costume?
It’s a bit more complicated than that though because it’s not just the name but the outfit and the obvious insinuation behind what she’s wearing and why she’s wearing it. Not calling someone a slave doesn’t change the fact that they’re enslaved. And it’s not like we don’t all know why she’s wearing that specific costume.. even though I’m glad she’s coming in this set (she plays a major role in the scene) it SERIOUSLY surprises me that Disney/LEGO is looking past it
