DISCLAIMER: This set was provided by The LEGO Group. Solid Brix Studios was not paid nor mentioned to ever say anything in particular about this set. All opinions are my own.
I thought I was going to have to re-edit my review after hearing this set would be $70 USD, but nope. This morning LEGO published this set and does indeed retail for $80. Absolutely ridiculous. My opinion at the end stands true.
WHAT???? I pay $40 retail at launch
80 dollar u should buy it in eu. Discount 54. Got it today, gonna order some €11 mandalorian bags and put baby yoda in the podracers and i have the mandalorian twice
This is SOOO overpriced. Some polybag builds and a wall for $80? Lego have lost their minds
Inflation bro
@@oklyght Inflation included this is an overpriced set.
@@yoshirrrr3580 agreed!
@@oklyghtpieces are smaller, there are denser builds, and considering the LEGO group’s continual record profits, inflation is a weak excuse.
Agreed, but I still want it. 😅
I would have absolutely paid an absurd price like that if the quote was "AHHHHHHHHHHHH! POODOO!" - Sebulba
Visually it looks great, but that price is horrendous.
David teasing May 4th GWP in the background 😂
this is a $30-45 set
I agree, but, these diorama sets are always expensive
LEGO: Nonsense
If that
I think 30$-45$ is low enuff
i think the comparison of the trench run was really neat because of the parallels
anakin/vader chasing an x shaped opponent through a tight space in both cases
Will wait for it on sale, all of diorama sets go on sale about 8 months after release
I was Hoping there would be more 25th anniversary figures
Theres 3 more on the way
There’s still Cal Kestis, young Leia, and R2-KT
Cal league for real? Cheers
And Nein Nunb
Imagine if they did a diorama set for the Sarlacc Pit and Desert Skiff
I would love to see that! A lando guard, blind han, and boba Fett would be a great fig lineup for that imo.
I’m really happy we’re finally getting a prequel diorama, but they should’ve chosen a scene that includes minifigures, it would sell better and incentivize them to create more. This could’ve come later down the line, for a cheaper price. I also like the idea of this being a play set instead, and Anakin’s podracer would make a nice ucs set.
If you are someone (like me) complaining about the price...the set probably isn't for us. It's for people who have so much money that $80-$100 is nothing to them. LEGO knows. Their market research is secretive but its on point.
The issue with that being it creates a huge divide among lego fans, those who can afford to just casually drop €80 on a wall and those who can't.
@@jasonmonks8423 I totally agree man. It sucks :/
Sebulbas podracer doesn’t even fit through the arch…
Have you seen the way he races? He would have cleared that easily with some slick maneuvering
It's annoying that Sebulba's podracer doesn't fit through the arch. That's a major oversight. You might be able to mod the arch so that it will fit, but you shouldn't have to.
I was excited for this set but not at that price, no way.
It's also interesting they called it the Mos Espa Podrace instead of the Boonta Eve Podrace - I might remember the film wrongly but I don't remember Mos Espa being named as a location in the dialogue.
It does fit in the way that it goes through in the movie.
Mos Espa is the city, Boonta Eve is the event
Should have been Duel of the Fates, but I actually really like this tbh. Even at full price (nostalgic impact), but I'm sure we'll see this at $50-60 in no time.
Overpriced and I’m glad you also admitted it. As others have said, it’s basically two 5 dollar poly bags put on a diorama scene and with no mini figures…. 60 bucks is even being too generous. Yet Lego is never going to listen to its fan base nor take any cues from major Lego RUclipsrs. Maybe 80 bucks could have been justified if you threw in a new Anakin minifigure and a new Subullba minifigure??? I just don’t know…Lego is obviously in fantasy land and they are betting that hardcore peeps are still going to buy it day 1 because they can always threaten to pull and retire it right away. And don’t get me started on the lack of printed pieces. I mean seriously with a higher premium price tag, there should be no stickers. Why??????
I once got the old podrace set (7962) as a birthday present when I was a kid. I still display them to this day, after more than a decade. They were just slightly more expensive than this set , but look 10x more impressive. They also include a lot of cool minifigures exclusive to the set (Watto, Anakin, Wald, Sebulba and Obi-Wan).
Way too over priced but awesome video keep up the great work and God bless.
This is one ill probably just find 20 quid cheaper, sealed but with a box someone sat on just bcs i want the build but cba with that price ong.
imagine MBS pod racer set omg 😲
Redo the Podracer Bucket set as a UCS set!
They can’t add Ben Quadinaros and his pod unless it’s of the starting line lol
Yooooo a UCS Podracer set would be amazing.
TAKE MY MOMEY
Agreed! But man would that be fragile!!
not gonna sell well and lego will go welp guess they don’t like prequel sets!!!
For sure, I hate how scorned the prequels have been in Lego Star Wars lately and they're absolutely going to factor in poor sales on this one when considering future sets, while completely ignoring how overpriced this is.
It’s a background for polybag sets. Big fail.
Not a huge fan of the arch covering Anakin’s pod. Wonder if there’s a way to customize it.
I just bought the tiny plants set for $30 and it had zero stickers with some printed plates . Meanwhile this $80 set has stickers. I’d still have a problem with the pricing of this but the stickers just add to that problem.
When I saw this pop up on my feed, I got so excited. I want this set! Then I saw the piece count in the thumbnail, and worried about the price. 'This won't be cheaper than 70, 75 quid, I fear'. And when I heard it's 80 I audibly groaned. Also, the design of the cockpits of the podracers doesn't quite gel with me. If this was 60 bucks I would have gotten it, but for now this is a pass for me..
eBay has saved my wallet time and time again
I love this set. Anything pod racer I'm into but man that price tag is brutal
For 80 they should've at least included anakin and sebulba minifigs.
For that price the pod racers should be big enough for mini figs. I think this would be a day one buy if there was a new sebulba mini fig. Also there are better backgrounds to choose from the race. I think the finish line with the audience would have been fun. Then you could have single studs representing shmi, padima and quigon
Review the tie interceptor dang it. We know you have it 😅
It's definitely more obvious with this diorama, but I think all of the dioramas really don't have great value. I only own the Endor Speeder Chase only because I feel like it's the best value of the bunch over the years
At first sight I didn't want it but the nostalgia and your different angle shots made me reconsider the buy... Anyway not for 80 dollars.... Maybe 65 would be good
exclusive minifigures would help this set , perfect for a new variant for young young ani & the other aline
One reviewer also pointed out that Sebulba's podracer doesn't actually fit through the arch, which is very unfortunate.
The colorful podracers are not complemented by the tatooine landscape whatsoever. In the I would love to see more mino scale podracers placed in a different setting
I'd rather have this than a play set. It's definitely overpriced, though, but that's unfortunately becoming the norm. Good pricing is now a good deal.
Just bought it, and loved it. I do agree the Lego prices are on the pricy side, but it was a fun build and I loved the terrain.
I’ll certainly add to the scenery though.
So does this mean your next large scale diorama will be a podrace scene?
This is one where I'll wait until it's on sale, the retail price doesn’t really seem worth it. Otherwise, the set itself looks good.
If we don't buy it cause of the price (which I agree is too high) will Lego think we don't want anymore Prequel or Diorama Sets and not make any more??? Bit of a catch 22.................Looks amazing and definitely want it though.
It's two poly bags and some background
Devils advocate: the degobah diorama has something like 200 1x1 semi transparent tiles to make the swamp look.
I will not buy a set without figures.
Zero chance.
I’d rather buy two more boardings of Tantive IV.
I had a bunch of extra silver pieces leftover after I finish this build. I thought they would have gone on the podracers. I even went back through the build manual and don't see where they belong. Anyone else run into this?
I think it’s cool I’ll pick it up if it’s on sale
Now this is podracing
Sebulbas pod racer doesn’t even fit through the archway 🤦🏼♂️ ridiculous
I've loved a lot of their May 1st releases but this one...... I really can't get behind this one for whatever reason
These mini Diorama sets are SUCH a damn MONEY GRAB.....such a boring little ripoff. It should be 2x the size and $60
30% They need to make collector sets like this 30% bigger or 30% cheaper.
The Droideka is 60$ and it’s huge then There is this
what’s up with the extra bag of all grey pieces i only use the 2, three pronged ones what are the rest of the odd shapped pieces
2 vids in 1 day
The orange pod don't fit through the arch.... Not a good design :(
bruh what? they got the race name wrong, never once did we see Mos espa race in episode 1 when the race name is the Boonta eve classic. they can't get nothing right
I just want these as a polybag or a pair without the underscaled scenery behind it :/
The pod race diorama looked cool at first, then I realized each pod is basically a $5 poly bag set, that you put on a sandy framed Beggar’s Canyon base. That just isn't worth $80, especially with zero minifigs
To me, it doesn't make sense for there to be minifigures in this set because it is not at minifigure scale and it's meant to be a display set. Adding minifigures would have messed with the illusion, much like the Hogwarts Architect did with the Hogwarts Castle and Grounds set. This set needed to do something else to increase its value, though I can't think of any changes could justify that price tag. For a set like this, I measure its value by the quality of the building experience, the usefulness of the parts for other creations, and the emotions I feel seeing it on display. And based on those criteria alone, this set doesn't look to be worth it to me.
I don't like to measure the value of a set by comparing the price to that of older sets because the value of money is constantly changing, especially over the past couple of years. And, of course, material and labor costs in individual markets are constantly changing at different rates. When I compare the prices of newer sets to older sets, I mostly just see it as a fault of the global economy and not of LEGO itself. I think if LEGO were really charging its customers unfairly, it would not have been named the most reputable company in the world for the second year in a row.
I'm not just saying all this to try to defend LEGO; that really is just how my brain interprets these things, but I understand that other people see things differently.
"im not a mini scale person" ok undercover gnome fed
The trench run was much better then this, and cheaper at that!
Thats basically 2 poly bag builds and terrain pieces....40 dollar set is what it should cost. 20 more dollars and they could of released full size builds in the same box like they done with Shinn vs e wing vader vs a wing fang vs tie etc dioramas are wasted sets imo
No way that I’m buying any LEGO set without minifigures
$80 for two poly bags and a little bit of terrain? FoH with that price. Not impressed
The orange chip cant go through the tunnel so thats bad🙂↕️
I’ve always wanted to collect the dioramas, but they are way too overpriced. Not expensive - I’ll spend lots of cash if the build is worth it (UCS venator), but I could never justify these dioramas price
I bought it today for 55 euros
So a $10 set is too small for stickers. Massive UCS scale sets are too expensive for stickers. Now $80 sets apparently shouldn’t have stickers. So at which price point is it okay to include stickers? Starting to think the price has nothing to do with it and instead y’all just have the patience of an infant
Price is awful, could have at least given us printed pieces at that price point
My wallet is crying. The sets recently have been pretty good and it knows i want to buy them all.
It looks so good but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna pay $80 for it lmao
2 5$ polybags and a 40$ baseplate yeah that's rough
No way is that worth $80 at all. Will eventually get on discount. Have all the others and it does look cool. Just not at 80!
If you have OCD, don't read this.
Sabulba's pod racer doesn't fit through under the arch. (I saw in another review clip)
60 is still to expensive. 45 max
Babaji 1
I really don’t like these type of star wars sets there just stupid prices for normal sets with just a black base on the bottom sorry just my opinion
At least 40 dollars overpriced
This is a $30 set
Looking at the comments, there’s a lot of Lego negative m&r people here…
Another overpriced set like some before but only now David tells us the price too high. It absolutely is. Most of the sets are. I’ll wait for about $45 sales
The real thing is beautiful but the price is shit
He is lucky lego are sending him the sets or else he's going to be broke
These 25 year celebratory sets, let alone ALL of the dioramas, are SO overpriced. It’s actually ridiculous
Ridiculous set. Two micro builds and a wall for 80 dollars. And then they even put in stickers instead of printing the parts…absolutely insane. First diorama I won’t buy.
I haven't bought any of the dioramas, I'm more interested in the midi scale sets
It's working awesome set great review
Parts number and figs just are not comparable between this set and Dagobah.
This set has no use for figures. And Dagobah has an absurd amount of 1x1 parts.
That being said it is overpriced.
80 Diorama Dollars. These sets are so overpriced even by Lego Star Wars standards
oof
No way - all of them overpriced Lego hunt for adult money. No way I am buying it.
My short opinion: meh
No point complaining about this overpriced set here: RUclips comments don't work on Lego; only money.
Definitely overpriced. Will pick up at a discount eventually
lord man you can talk but at least show the set when doing so, we dont want to look at the box for 2 mintues
Massively overpriced, even by Lego standards.
This should be a play set, what a waste
Yeah, $80 and no Mini Ppl is Crazy.. It should hav been $40-$50 Max - Lego is plain Crazy for this 25th yr Crap. And i really wanted this set - But Nope!!!

Ugly set, too expensive.
I love your reviews until it comes to the price point. You’re continually comparing prices to older sets which isn’t fair. Prices go up over time. Inflation is real. Everything costs more today. Unless it’s outrageously priced, I’m always going to get it. Day 1 is usually a better deal than a sale too if you get the GWPs because the GWPs resell for more than you’ll get off from a sale price usually. I’d just love to see your reviews without price being included unless the price is something truly outrageous. $10-$20 from what you think the price should be is not a reason to not recommend. You’re a LEGO builder and RUclipsr not an economist. Still love your reviews though! Just some constructive criticism.
