As someone who grew up with Sega Star Wars Arcade game, finding and playing this was mind blowing. My local didn't have the machine for long, so only got to play a few times. Awesome find
Star Wars Trilogy arcade is my favorite! When I went to Universal I actually got to put my initials in 3rd place. That was 2000 so it's probably been unplugged and moved 100 times but I took a picture! 😂😂
The light spot in front of the controls is distracting, as is all the noise from the system itself is rather loud, other than that the game play looks amazing. I believe I played this once years ago.
First off, you're an absolute pro at that fighter jet game. Secondly, the Star Wars game play looks amazing. I can see how operators might have issues with the overhead of keeping those things in good working order. They look fairly complex.
If only they'd done an R-360 version of Star Wars... That would have been special! I can't recommend the R-360 experience enough to a gamer, so if you can find one that you can get to then try and make it happen! The last time I saw one near me, it had purposely sabotaged by the owners with a giant padlock screwed into it so that it couldn't move at all!!! Even though to my knowledge the motion features could simply be turned off in the settings/diagnostics menu.
Finally got to play one of these at an arcade in Tokyo a month ago. For anyone in Japan, they have one on the 6th floor of the GIGO Tower 3 arcade (Retro G) in Akihabara. It was worth the wait, the game and the pod are very immersive.
The system won't turn off the projector immediately until the system itself is fully shut down to prevent data corruption/errors if the signal to the projector was suddenly lost (It can cause certain projectors to freak out and reset settings)
We've got a few still dotted around the UK in arcades. Any time I see one, I get my fix. They're the same feeling as the anakin pod racer arcade machine you rarely find now.
I still play it whenever my family goes minigolfing. I love Vader's Revenge. But Hoth I've only cleared once. That TIE Interceptor always seems to worm its way out in the last few seconds.
Aahhh, man that'd be awesome. I hope you get to experience it, definitely an experience worth my local arcade charging $5 per play. Maybe try searching for a local one? There's probably some arcade enthusiasts that've documented it in an arcade local-ish to you.
That's really cool.. Remember don't clean the projector lens when hot, it will just burn whatever you use onto it and make the lens look foggy.. If that happens wait until it's cold and use ipa, normally comes uo clear again after a scrub..
"there's a hydraulic digital indoor rollercoaster ride" that would be an excellent system to "upgrade into this video's star wars theme (if made into symbiotic functions)". Great job with your video!
I play this with laptop pc and teknoparrot.... And the virtual desktop to my quest 3 in 4k and the screen is enormous .. select wraparound screen and its all you can see, with colours and contrast better than projector , and with a HOTAS controller... It's an amazing blast once a week 🇬🇧👌🏻
Oh man, I want one of those pods. I played the heck out of one that was military themed, tank, bunker, and ship (I think) and it was my second favorite arcade game. The seat rising and shifting, heavy and light recoils, so much fun.
There's one at my local fun-center. $5 a mission, but absolutely worth it. Vader's Revenge is insane. The VERY FIRST second of the mission is so neatly detailed, that I won't even spoil it. It's the "very hard" of the game, but I actually find Hoth harder. I've only beaten it once because that TIE Interceptor is just way too evasive. MB2 in Santa Clarita, CA for anyone who wants to try it and that's close enough. Also, I never knew they had different games that run off that hardware!
Pure example of grown men becoming kids again , this most be the most stressed unboxing I ever seen 😂 can’t wait to get th game started 😊 love the video and congrats!!!
I saw that the first time I played one, I'm like "waaaaa..?." Arcade development has less bureaucracy than home entertainment, and get made in places not typically known to harbor game studios lol.
WOW! Seeing this running, this should have been the evolution of the R-360 - pretty sure that they used the same casts/tooling in order to create the outside of the cabinet, so I imagine it was in their minds too! I've never come across one of these in the UK.
That's the most bad ass SW cab I've ever seen. But I haven't been in an arcade in over 20 years, so I'm not hip to all the new crazy giant cabinets these days. Lol
The Dave and Busters near my old house use to have one of these and I swear my friend and I dropped like $500 into playing this. One of the most fun Star Wars games ever!
I stumbled across one that only had the large screen (not the full enclosed setup like this) at an arcade I took my son to a couple months ago, and found myself absolutely loving the game. Would LOVE to get my hands on one. Felt as close as you could get to a genuine Star Wars OT flight simulator as you could get without investing in a high end PC, VR headset, motion sim setup (to the tune of several thousand) and HOTAS setup .....which believe me I would do in a heartbeat if I could.
I live in Bolton ( greater Manchester uk) and the closet I've seen this is Blackpool which is 40 miles away and an hour off and absolutely love going on this in coral island ( huge arcade) but last year I went and it's gone which is a dam shame it's an amazing game .
How cool would it be to have a dozen of those pods all linked together to allow something like Call of Duty in the sky. Fast-paced fighter pilot king of the hill game.
Checked it out on the website, this puppy costs ''only'' $8K approx....that's a lot of ubereats deliveries, yikes!!....The price tag is strong with this one!
If I remember correctly, this cab was originally for the sequel to Star Blade Alpha but Namco cancelled the sequel and licensed the tech to Lucasfilms and Mobile Suit Gundam.
Dude is there a way to get a few of the Gundam ones? I'm an old Gundam fan and ever since I learned about the Gundam arcade games I've been wanting to play one. It just sucks the they are only in Japan
They might still be around; they were really cheap since they aren’t operable anymore, and really huge, two combinations that don’t last long in Japan. We do have the successor to the Gundam pods, but it’s not an enclosed cabinet, just 3 large vertical monitors
Make your own pod out of the steel battalion game and controller 😂. I'm a gundam fan myself, but could never afford one of these. I've been wanting to get the SB control and mod it. I've seen people use it on other consoles and pc. I've got ideas but no real time or money to do it. I've seen hawken get used a ton with it It would be cool to have a Gundam or mech themed one, but these are out of reach of most.
I think not due to how the picture is fed to fit the curvature of the screen. Just my guess, I haven’t looked further into it. I know the build for the SD cab is different, I think because of this? Definitely something worth considering
I saw one of these in a davenbusters, and it was playing a demo... I went inside, and even though I wasn't playing it, it was fucking incredible... I got motion sick just sitting there, and got too scared to play it.
Oh, wow. I thought that I recognize this pod as the same one used in “Senjou Kizuna”. My local arcade never carried the Star Wars game, though, which looks great! Edit: Oh, it’s a rail shooter? That is not good.
This should be modded to be fed by a computer so that a REAL space game or flight sim could be played. Even the flight control hardware could be replaced. And integrating a head tracker should be feasible, too. Games that force the player to effectively ride a preset 'rail', with a very limited range of movement, get boring quickly. A more open environment with full control over where to go is far superior.
We should be getting our cab at The Wings over the Rockies Air Museum (where Star Wars Celebration I was) in around 2 weeks. If you need anything, LMK.
I'm not into games so much but love electronics I worked on long range discrimination radar for govt. This machine is cooler then anything at Lockheed martin 😅
A lot of, I don't knows. There was an instruction manual there. LMAO. I would fit it with a PS5. Star Wars: Squadrons would be good on it. Any game would be fun. Going to have to look into one. You can still order parts for it from Bandia Namco.
I'm looking to start an arcade and would love machines like this. Can you recommend some american or north american auctions to keep an eye out for arcade machines? Would appreciate it. Thanks!
Captain's Auction Warehouse has them often enough, and they do sometimes range pretty cheap. I also sell them, though it'll be a long wait to get one on a container and over here atm
I have somewhat sensitive hearing and tried to use one of these at a Dave & Busters because I'm sorta a fan of Star wars, it was so fucking loud inside the pod I had to step out mid-game because it started giving me a headache.
Ive never owned any form of gaming kiosk, but is there any way to make them function without having to put money in them so you can play it if you keep it for your own personal use
@ethanshackleton Ah ok, I just assumed the game was built only with the pay function in mind. Though on that other point while true I could just keep retrieving my coins, I could see that becoming an hassle to not only get the coins and retrieve them when done, but keeping track of how many was used incase you had friends over for a game night so you aren't mixing your coins with others
As someone who grew up with Sega Star Wars Arcade game, finding and playing this was mind blowing. My local didn't have the machine for long, so only got to play a few times. Awesome find
Old SEGA Star Wars is a gem. Used to have one
@@GameSaru The fun center I play Battle Pod at has the OG Sega version too. It still has it's own charm😁
That sucks. My local fun center has BOTH still. Only the couple truly good games left that they didn't replace with carnival-style games.
Star Wars Trilogy arcade is my favorite! When I went to Universal I actually got to put my initials in 3rd place. That was 2000 so it's probably been unplugged and moved 100 times but I took a picture! 😂😂

For anyone that's in olean they have one at the big mall there
Nice heads up 👍🏻

I think there's one in Southsea at Clarence pier arcade 😊
Never had the luck to run into this arcade unit before. Looks awesome! Imagine how cool a free roaming space fighter would be in that projection pod?
Aahhh, man that'd be awesome. I hope you get to experience it, definitely an experience worth my local arcade charging $5 per play. Maybe try searching for a local one? There's probably some arcade enthusiasts that've documented it in an arcade local-ish to you.
I love these things, whenever I find them in an arcade I play them over and over. So fun.
That Star Wars battle pod is awesome. Thanks for showing it off.
Definitely. Vader's Revenge is insane.
I can't imagine playing this as a kid it must have been the best experience! I've never seen one of these unfortunately, looks like so much fun!
That's really cool.. Remember don't clean the projector lens when hot, it will just burn whatever you use onto it and make the lens look foggy.. If that happens wait until it's cold and use ipa, normally comes uo clear again after a scrub..
Holy cow that is freaking cool. Thanks for another awesome video.
Never use a Stanley blade to open expensive stuff
Indeed
He did just fine...
Always use a stanley knife when opening something expensive
Always use something expensive to open a Stanley© knife.
I always use my plastic safety scissors
"there's a hydraulic digital indoor rollercoaster ride" that would be an excellent system to "upgrade into this video's star wars theme (if made into symbiotic functions)".

I don't miss the timed arcade games...just money and time sinks!! But then, that was the point! Thanks sir!

*_There BETTER be updates each year._*
I played this once at Dave and Busters, its fun and very immersive.

I played this recently local arcade and I played it for about a minute before I started to feel sick
Every time he says ANYWAY, take a shot... I'm going to sleep good tonight.😅
I worked on the licensing contract for that. Japan exclusive.
Pure example of grown men becoming kids again , this most be the most stressed unboxing I ever seen 😂 can’t wait to get th game started 😊 love the video and congrats!!!
Stumbled on your channel and man I want an arcade in my basement bro
The one thing to not have scratches on it (lens) and they managed to do it. Well done Japan. Or maybe they did it while unboxing/installing
Fun facts, it was developed by Namco Studios Singapore
I saw that the first time I played one, I'm like "waaaaa..?." Arcade development has less bureaucracy than home entertainment, and get made in places not typically known to harbor game studios lol.
I never knew this was an import. Used to be at Disney Quest along with the military themed one, awesome game.
They are all made by Asian companies bro!!
WOW!

Japanese power standard is 100v make sure to check all your devices in the cabinet for compatabilty with our 120 volt system..

So cool was surprised when started.
This would be so wonderful for a star wars racing sim like in the early movies
How cool would it be to have a dozen of those pods all linked together to allow something like Call of Duty in the sky. Fast-paced fighter pilot king of the hill game.

This Battlepod is awesome, I want one for Battletech / Mechwarrior 5 as well as for Gundam
They have this game at The Family Fun Center in Medford Oregon
man this is one of the coolest things ever
I played one of these at a bowling alley arcade and it was amazing, but it made me a little nauseous lol.
Since it's just a projector with a dome can you upgrade the projector to a 4K gaming projector if it's for personal use?
I think not due to how the picture is fed to fit the curvature of the screen. Just my guess, I haven’t looked further into it. I know the build for the SD cab is different, I think because of this? Definitely something worth considering
Didn't these go to Dave And Busters? Pretty sure I remember commercials for them..
Saddly star wars is dead and i wont spend 1cents on it but did you say they got a gundam game on the same pod !!?? This must be crazy !!!
they use to have this pod at the santa monica pier in LA back when it first came out. not sure if it's there today though
They ought to make 180 3D VR Immersive videos like these for RUclips VR (ex. For Quest and Apple Vision Pro, for the rest of us) :-)
I went to japan a couple of times and don't recall seeing this machine anywhere
Same, yet somehow we've found 4 of them for sale there lol
You gone on the wrong trimming.
Anyway, those machines are always changing in those arcades in Japan. They are for lease.
This is so awesome thank you so much
Wow, what a fantastic technology! Could you adapt to play PC games or PS5 games on that display?
It’d probably be hard, the game graphics are designed to look right on the curvature produced by the projector
I saw one of these in a davenbusters, and it was playing a demo... I went inside, and even though I wasn't playing it, it was fucking incredible... I got motion sick just sitting there, and got too scared to play it.
One of the best games at D&B
I live in Japan and that was a fun game!
I want to see a full arcade room filled with these but its VTOL VR LAN multiplayer
I played this at Harris casino in Tahoe back in 1990s. I loved it! $1 per play. I got to dueling Vader
That was STAR WARS: Trilogy
@@GameSaru omg it was! how rare is that game? It was amazing
congrats on 470k views

Played this a few times and it can def give u motion sickness....it's wild

Looks like you bought a $20,000 port-a-potty !
What's the weight capacity?
Would be good to put a pc supply to it and play Squadrons on it
Had thought about that, but more likely to do that on Starwing Paradox to capitalize on motion seat
@@GameSaru nice that would be cool too :)
