Our dryer got backed up with lint. This video was extremely helpful as a guide to pull the front panel off. Thank you for making these videos!
Thank you for the excellent video. I just wanted to clean lint from it for maintenance and fire prevention. I do wish companies would design them to make this job easier. Thank you again.
You're welcome!
Thanks so much for showing me how to take apart this exact Model ... we've owned it for 5 years. It was making some squeaky noise and it turned out to be a small screw stuck by one of the drum glides. I cleaned the glides with some light weight silicone put it back together and it is running better than ever. You probably saved me from buying a new dryer for my wife. Thank YOU!
You're welcome!

Thanks for the video I have the same model believe the belt came off
This video was a great help. My apartment has the model GTX22EASK0WW but the process is the same other than the different wiring harness at the front panel. It started making a scraping noise and upon disassembly I discovered a metal aglet by the drum lining, probably from a pants’ drawstring. The side panels were also bent and touching the drum as it rotates. Got it all fixed despite our maintenance staff telling us they couldn’t.
This comment was a HUGE help to me. Thank you for posting I have the same model- and maintenance has done nothing.
Thanks. The video was a great help. A hair clip wedged itself in the drum seal and was making a racket. Well, a bigger racket than the dryer already makes. 😄 This video was indispensable for my successful DIY attempt. 👍
Thank you... our drum bearings went POOF..., got the parts and this video did help in getting to that point, but didnt cover the bearings themselves. NOTE TO OTHERS: DONT GO FULL BEANS TIGHTENING THE SCREWS WITH ELECTRIC TOOLS... THEY WILL STRIP SO EASY
Thank you
excellent vid thanks! Noticed a bunch of lint build up below the trap on my dryer and figured it would be a good thing to clean out and prevent a dryer fire!

Thanks, we have the gas version. The metal end of a drawstring was lodged in the bearing. Your video helped a ton. made it super slick to take apart

Absolutely 5 Star Presentation!👍
Thank you!
This dryer does not have fuses. It has 2 limit switches. They are on the heating element. It is right behind the drum near the back panel.
Thank you very much
Dryer won't start has power to outlet
Since buying this exact same dryer April, 2022 the drum or dryer has made a load noise. I have made sure that is level. More than several times. Rechecking and since it is on hardwoods bought rubber stoppers to go under cleats, so as not to move when taking in and out clothing.
I had to clean out filter and below it yesterday. So I had to a semi-disassemble (not having to disconnect wiring on back just slide it where I could get top panel releasing it and sliding back out of the way ).
All was going well until the front panel. Wow, the drum even holding on to it was just not anywhere close to your video. Very loose, fell or dropped more than I would have expected.
At this point, I inspected the belt and it was in place from my vantage point. Putting back together due to this drum was not and is not the same. I have not used the dryer, yet. As I plan today to redo to see what is going on? I did lift up as you did on the drum when I went to put on the front panel. But it was just not wanting to work.
Is there any idea's of what could be going with this drum? It had worked as far as heating. But made load noise, a hard thump and get hot or hotter than my Matag that was 15 years old at the bottom.
Please, anything suggestion would help. This is my eldery parent dryer and I take care of them. I am not the Ms. Fixer also!
Excellent walk through.
Was so frustrated almost just went out and bought a new unit, but this walkthrough was very simple and easy to follow

This was so helpful! I had my dryer up and running in 40 minutes after a metal piece from clothing became lodged in the drum. 😢Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I was able to take apart the front and clean the lint thoroughly

Excellent video! clear and precise, kudos!
I had a Maytag for 13 years and it never gave me any problems and now I have a GE for seven months and it started to stop working in mid cycle. When there’s no clothes it runs very good, but with clothes it stops. We clean the vents and the lint filter of the dryer and it stools stop working and it won’t turn back until it cools off.
Great tutorial video. It helped amazingly!!
Thank you so much! Needed lint cleaning and you saved me big time ❤

👍 Awesome Video! Thanks for the info.
I have to say Whirlpool is a Much Easier Dryer to replace parts and clean internal parts. Glad I watched, a good cleaning is key to the dryer working efficiently and not catching fire.
Gteat video. Thank you so much! Ours wasn't heating. Ended up being a burt off wire to the heating element.

Thank you. My dryer has lint literally coming out the bottom back panel covering the motor despite me cleaning the lint trap 1-2 times each load and checking the hose 3-4 times a year. Im not sure Im confident enough to completely dismantle it, but this has made me much more comfortable attempting to clean it out.
You have to clean the lint trap out twice per load? Dang yo. My professional opinion is that you should get some less linty clothes 🥸
This dryer is a lint nightmare. The older GE I had for a decade didn't get as messy as this stupid model. I hate it.
Extremely helpful for this model. Five stars ✨

Where is the thermal fuse????
Anyone find this out?
Fixed my dryer with this, saving me 1200.00 ona new set
Thank you for this video. However since I put back together the drum makes a bit of a rubbing noise at one point when it is spinning. Any idea?
I have the PTD60EBPRDG model but the process is very similar.
Found a wood screw in mind in the front cover thank you!!!

Could you do a video with that exact dryer but instead of electric, gas? How to disassemble and test parts like coil valves, cut offs, fuses, etc.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏

I got a brand new one a month ago an it stopped heating?
This is great, but why doesn't it start when I turn it on. Even though it does turn on when I set the extended tumbler?
I have the gas version, but all the buttons are the same. You don't have to remove all these wires... just take the top off and have it hang off the back... You can take the entire top of still and access everything. Also FYI if anyone is dealing with the gas version... they might include an orifice for you to install for LP gas, but... you probably don't even need it. You literally open up the top & front covers of the dryer, don't even remove the drum, the regulator is right in front of you! Unplug 2 wire harnesses briefly and take a wrench and just turn it to LP, that's it! I got all confused with all these vids overcomplicating everything.
If anyone could answer, I'd appreciate it. I had to disassemble my GE dryer of a similar model partially after a chain broke one of the dryer glides on the front. During reassembly, the connection tab for the brown and purple wires broke. I figure it should be safe to have the prong/metal contacts touching while wrapped in electrical tape? Please advise.
What would you say would make this model of a GE dryer vibrate and
Thanks!
Thank you so much! We appreciate your support.
I have the same exact dryer and the rotary knob is different it’s so frustrating.
Thanks 🎉

I have this same dryer. I recently repaired the purple wire that connects to the heating element. Reassembled the dryer and everything worked perfectly for two loads of clothes then the dryer quit heating again. I haven’t taken the dryer apart to see if the wire is burnt into again but the odds are, it is. What would cause this wire to continue to fail? Can it be replaced with a heavier wire or would this create a fire hazard? Thanks
I'm trying to remove just the back panel, so I can put in a bottom vent. I need to be able to reach inside to make the connections. Does anyone know how to do this?.
I'm thinking it's going to be in the drivetrain somewhere between the drum and the tensioner Lee throwing some more s*** around the shop today I hate working on these GE junk dryers I recommend that everybody buys one
I took mine apart put it back together..it starts but it won't stay on when you hold down the button...????
What do I deactivate the buzz it makes when its done?
If you've never done projects like this.. I wouldn't remove all those wires. I would take the top lid screws out, and either remount the control panel part or just careful let the lid hang to the side.
Oh wow you have to do all that !! Is so complicated ,
Good video

You mentioned make sure the idler arm operates the switch.. can you expand on that please? I put the dryer back together and it's not starting. That's the only thing i can think of that is wrong. Thanks.
I cant find a schematic that shows the timer resistor or its part #. GTD42EASJ2WW
I have this model and the dryer runs but the heat stopped working, any recommendations?
Here are the top 5 reasons an electric dryer isn't heating: www.repairclinic.com/Repair-Library/Troubleshooting/2904/Electric-Dryer-Not-Heating-Dryer-Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot these and make sure your dryer vents are clean and clear of any lint buildup or debris.
Need help locating where the thermal fuse located on this dryer?
This dryer is insane inconvenient! Disassemble everything to change out a hi limit thermostat, lol
@@deadasfred1246 Tell me about it. Mine just stopped working and now i have to take it, basically, completely apart to see what’s wrong. Last GE product i’ll ever buy.
@@repairclinic How do you assess which thermostat might be an issue? My dryer just stopped working after a successful dry. When I put the dial on the timed setting, I can hear a very subtle clicking(but it won't start) - kind of like a clock, but if I put it on any of the other settings, no noise. Hard to know where to start.
You you guys get it working?
@@deadasfred1246 Are you joking? It takes not even 5 minutes to completely disassemble. And if you're having to change out your thermal fuses or other parts that often, its highly like there is some operator error going on.
Have the exact same dryer and won’t start !
Tried everything - please help
BTW- where is the damn fuse on this thing 🤷♂️
I have to hold the start button in before it works
Did You fix it?
Mine was working fine. Dried clothes, went do dry a second load....nothing. Acts like it's totally dead. Same model.
Why does is it so difficult to put the front panel back on when I do it lol damn
This is an awesome video! But now I really regret buying this appliance. Older designs had front and sides pop off just clips. So much lint bypasses the leaky filter it's a real fire hazard, and the video shows cleaning is impractical.
How to replace the cycle button ?
I've had mine break (just spins around) the knobs pull straight out. You need to buy a replacement knob. Very easy fix...you can do it!
I have the same issue finding the fuse but the video won't stream
No fuse
I could not removed the control panel, 1:37 - 1:45 on the video. Can someone help?
Done. Just pulled it really hard.
Maytag dryer drum rollers how to
where is the thermal fuse????
Who the hell designed this thing?
The way he removed the electric clip at 4:37 proves this is photoshopped. I can never get those stupid f%*$ing clips off
"PHOTOSHOPPED" REFERS TO EDITING ON PHOTOS ONLY LOL.
There is no need to remove all those wires
First I would like to say this appliance is probably an example of the worst engineering possible. No consideration for the guys that do the repairs. Second good video but you get a failing grade from me. The video for installing the belt on the motor drive and idler pulley are taken from the back of the cabinet. The ONLY way to reinstall the belt is from the front. Would help if you showed a sketch of the belt routing from the front. The auto guys figured that out with their serpentine belts.
Although the view was from the rear to show you the routing and how he did it he did the install from the front best I could tell
Man this is a POS if I ever seen one. I am an appliance tech and this may last one round of repair and the slant eyed junky will never go back together.
0:51
@@JoyceCannon-fp9ip slant-eyed junkie? I'll get myself together a bit if you wanna put that giant, wicked witch nose in my belly button at a vigorous pace!!! 😂
These things are junk. 6 months old and it stops heating and you have to tear it down to bones to fix anything.
Planned obsolescence
Damm heat wire keeps falling off, GE repair came 3 times in 1.5 months, within the first 6 months, pile of junk.
It’s a dumbest design I have seen so far for the dryer you have to disassemble 99 % just to get to any part inside of this stupid GE dryer. GE was always lacking for smart engineers
