My band director loves Gary girl Roy, two years ago we did "How to Survive a Zombie apocalypse, last year we did "the machines" and this year we're doing pirates. I really want to do this or Mediterranean

We only do Gary Gilroy songs. This year is Insomnia, last year was Unbridled, then Conspiracy Theory, then How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, then Fathoms (my favorite).

The trumpet part for Gangsta Jazz! is one of our favorites!
This piece amazes me every time I hear it, those bass drum parts make me feel so amped up!!
Reminds me so much of a Blue Devils show. Specifically Dreams and Nighthawks. It's the perfect amount of mysterious and it could tell the same story of the people in the painting in so many different ways.

The clarinet part in this show is absolutely amazing, I just wish the bass clarinet part had the same as Bb cause I played bass, as the Bb clarinets had such a lot more fun part.
The low parts are important too!

All through out high school band, I've done shows all by GPG, and I want to compose shows like this myself one day, and when I become a band director ( my goal after college) I want my band kids to play shows my agilely cause they're just so fantastic!👌🏻

Played this my freshman year of highschool. It was a great show.
This show is very special to me. We played this my junior year in high school (2008) and we won a lot of awards, including the big one during the last competition of the season. It was an amazing, wild ride.
I love how I can listen to a lot of these, and here similar patterns of notes and chords and I can distinctly point out each one. Like this one has similar patterns of notes with dreams and some boundaries here and there.
We might play this for our up coming marching season this year and I'm excited but I also love paranormal ❤️❤️

Unfortunately, only your band director will be able to give your music to you; due to licensing and purchasing, we can't give away parts to students. Way to be proactive though!
Okay, thanks anyway! By any chance my director said that there was a "dumb down" version. And I believe thats what will be purchased, but will this include the upper register parts anyway?
The Excellence for Smaller Bands version has many sections of the trumpet 1 part down the octave compared to the original, but still has many sections that are in the upper register. You can check out score samples of the original winds score and the ESB version on our website by creating an account.

We WERE going to do this this season. It was the show that our director and our seniors decided on for this season, but no.......our director, at the last second, decided to pick a different show that everyone in our band (especially the seniors) hate. He thought the drill was a bit too hard for our band. Do you guys know if there is any way you can get the full score with, say, grade 3 or 4 level drill instead of the grade 5 drill that comes with it by default?

So would this show be mafia themed similar to Chicago 1930? Or does it have a different theme? Our band is rockin Chicago 1930 this year and I don't know if this would be too similar to this years theme to do this one next year.
"Gangsta Jazz!" is a little more "Godfather"-esque, while Chicago 1930 was inspired by Chicago during the early 1900s (including the rise of the Italian mafias there). The Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band originally envisioned "Chicago 1930" as "The Streets of Old Chicago", and while some of the band members considered it a spiritual sequel to "Gangsta Jazz!", it had a bit of a different concept when Gary was writing it.
