All these years later. 2003/2004. So proud to be apart of this recording. Gabrielson pushed us so hard but the outcome was amazing so many fond memories. 10 person cymbal line! Homerun!
Wow. That’s awesome af. I’ve always how it felt to get an opportunity to play a piece like this. This piece is legendary. It was my senior show in 13. Been on repeat lately.
I did this show my junior year and I loved marching the entire show. I would march it again if I could. We had an all out fight scene at the end of the second movement before we said "yo ho yo ho, a pirate's life for me, Arg!" like they did in the recording.
This is our current show and I'm SO excited to play it! It's my second year on drumline and hearing the drumline solo makes me soooo much more excited for this season. Last year we did The Machines and I hope this year is gonna be just as fun.
We're glad you're enjoying playing our shows! Be sure to tag us in any band-related posts @gpgpublications on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram throughout the season!
My band director just told us this is our show for the season and that he purchased it literally this morning... all the seniors are mad that they won't be playing this
This is such an amazing show! I completely fell in love with it the first time my band director showed it to us and I've been listening to it nonstop so I could memorize it.
my band is doing this show next season and AAAHHHHHH I CAN'T STOP FREAKING OUT ABOUT IT!!!!! it's so good oh my goodness. I'm very excited to march this. I'm a bit concerned for the incoming freshmen and sophomore since they don't know how to march because of the pandemic. I'm sure we're gonna absolutely slaughter it though.
So excited to play this for marching band. We're doing a slightly different version, and replacing the middle bit before the drum break with a dancing jig. Hopefully this season will be as good or better than last year's!
+Gary P. Gilroy Publications Yup! Our little band of 100 got 2nd best in state last season, losing to a band that picks from the three largest schools in the state.
We’re doing this show this year and it’s so cool. We’re learning the music for the third movement tonight!! The Mello parts are super cool and really fun to play.
Omg we did this show this year and this was our score 1,1,1,1,1with an overall score of one for Bruce Trojan high school!!!! we may be doing angels and demons next
Designing drill for this music this year.........I think I'll just stage the trumpets on the sideline........jk.... But super excited to write to this show!
Hope we can get to play this next year espescially sonce it kinda fits with the theme of our band trip next year! Plus since im in drumline i really like this peice for the solos. truly a great peice of music!
This is my show for this year, and im trying to learn the guard routine. The show certainly aounds beautiful but is so fast that i think my arms might fall off.
That's awesome! I hope that it went great for y'all! We did this my senior year and I was the pit section leader again. I can't tell you how much fun we had doing this. It was my favorite year of band. The whole band did amazingly and so did my section, I was super proud of my kids.
My senior year show is about to be amazing. We did How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse my sophomore year and nearly got perfect scores each competition. One can only imagine what we are about to do with this show.
I have mallet 2 and page 6 and 7 are killing me, is there anyway i can get just the percussion part on this? Does my band director have a recording of just the Pitt Percussion stuff? Cause im gonna die if i don't memories those last three pages before the next game, NEXT WEEK!
I was looking for a show with a good drum break... Found it! The vocals with the drums felt amazing to hear! I was wondering though, could you guys make a show fit for something like DCI? (You may have already and I didn't see it, but just wondering).
While we don't have any shows in our catalog specifically for drum corps, many of our composers have marched, been on staff for, and/or written for various drum corps. Gary actually wrote for the Blue Devils and Santa Clara Vanguard while he was still marching with them!
When I was in school I was a trumpet player we wanted to play this so bad it came to this or boldly go and so we learned pirates by ear in our free time so we could play it by ear our director got mad and said no pirates lol 😂

Our recording trumpets survived!
Would you mind telling me how many members the group that you recorded was?
@@mitchellware7814 they plug the music into something and it plays it for them with dynamics, articulation and what not
That trombone part.. shiver me timbers.
I did this show my junior year and I loved marching the entire show. I would march it again if I could. We had an all out fight scene at the end of the second movement before we said "yo ho yo ho, a pirate's life for me, Arg!" like they did in the recording.
Very cinematic! We're glad you enjoyed performing it!
My school right now has this as our show and we have a sword fighting scene before the yo ho yo ho pirates life for me argh
Found out tonight that this is our marching show this next season. Super excited 😁
We're happy you're excited! We hope it ends up being a great season!

This is a fantastic recording by the 2003 Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band!
This is our current show and I'm SO excited to play it! It's my second year on drumline and hearing the drumline solo makes me soooo much more excited for this season. Last year we did The Machines and I hope this year is gonna be just as fun.

The back and forth of the trumpets in the beginning reminds me of battling ships. Its very well composed.

This is such an amazing show! I completely fell in love with it the first time my band director showed it to us and I've been listening to it nonstop so I could memorize it.
+Internet Child Thank you for the kind words! Listening is a great way to memorize the music-and you can also play along and mark time with it too!
my band is doing this show next season and AAAHHHHHH I CAN'T STOP FREAKING OUT ABOUT IT!!!!! it's so good oh my goodness. I'm very excited to march this. That's fantastic! We hope it's a great show for you!
This was one of my shows in high school. By far the best and most favorite one I’ve done.
So excited to play this for marching band. We're doing a slightly different version, and replacing the middle bit before the drum break with a dancing jig. Hopefully this season will be as good or better than last year's!
+Savannah Joldersma The season's only as good as you and your peers can make it! We hope you have a great one, though!
+Gary P. Gilroy Publications Yup! Our little band of 100 got 2nd best in state last season, losing to a band that picks from the three largest schools in the state.
Will the legend himself reply?
The company staff certainly will! :-)
If you think marching & playing this is easy think again I have to march it this year its the hardest show we've had to do
Yo Dj I think we did good though you did good on 29! The last part was the hardest I think!
Super excited for this show we’re doing it this year
The ending section get me everytime😭 it so good

I played snare on this last year and it’s honestly my favorite show of all time. Thank you for making this show possible!
We are doing this marching show this year. Sounds great for us so far! We just haven't got those trumpet squeals yet!!!! Going good so far.
We’re doing this show this year and it’s so cool. We’re learning the music for the third movement tonight!! The Mello parts are super cool and really fun to play.

Wish I could have done this show, but my band is just too small 😔
Song's so cool that I just had to edit it for my winter drum major program and conduct it.
This is our show for our next season and I'm the pit section leader 😳 wish me luck with this feature
You can do it! We believe in you!
That's awesome! I hope that it went great for y'all! We did this my senior year and I was the pit section leader again. I can't tell you how much fun we had doing this. It was my favorite year of band. The whole band did amazingly and so did my section, I was super proud of my kids.
I feel your pain, not as a section leader but in general pitt percussion sense
We did this last year, it was fun, this year were doing in the cards going to championships next Saturday:D
Gary P Gilroy is a legend

We must go to the same school. CHS?
