great IG tutorial video and also enjoyed wathcing 10,000 km run review. Regarding the diff locks, I have seen several issues discussed at the IG forum engaging/ disengaging diff locks. I am wondering if you have had any issues of operating diff locks? Thanks!
First of all: thanks a lot 🤗💪🏻. I've seen those reports. I have no issues with engaging/disenganging. every now and then it will take a while until your lockers disengage but I consider that normal. a few turns and it works.
Hey, thanks for the video! Could you please advise me how to turn off the diff locks, the light keep blinking and doesn't turns off! Thanks in advance!
Hello. In my Video "How To - Episode 06" I talk about this issue. In short: blinking doesn't mean the lockers are still engaged. it means that the car hasn't sensed a difference in wheel spin yet and couldn't confirm the dis-engagment. doing a (few) turn(s) should stop the blinking. 👍🏻
I have a question. When descending steep hills off road what's the best way to control your speed? Do you rely on the auto box 'holding' a low gear, do you switch to manual and hold a low gear or do you use the Downhill Assist? I've found that holding a low gear in auto the car still wants to change up which can give some scary moments.
hi. i do see the same issue, though in Auto it's still holding the gear quite long. The HDC is a very good system and worked till now every time really well and you can fully concentrate on steering and set/control the speed exactly as you like it. Me personally, I love to put the transmission to manual, 1st gear and roll down the hill with engine brake. works up to +-30 degrees of slope really good (if it's not too slippery).
I’m from Canada so still waiting to get mine. Question, can you lock the centre differential lock while moving, or not in Hi range and if so do you have to pull the collar to do it.
Hi. When do you get yours and which configuration? Yes, you can engage the centre diff. lock on the move in HI and LO. The front&rear diff. locks can be engaged up to a speed of 15km/h (8mph) as well. Only HI to LO (and vice versa) requires you to stop and put the transmission in N for the change.
@@grenadier_exploring Delivery moth is in July (we are quite behind here). Is the Trialmaster rough pack. Anyway, the reason of my question is that I had a bit of trouble with this when I was test driving yesterday and the fellow that was with me did seem to be that familiar with that either. I have been driving only part time 4WD manual transmission for decades. And done modifications to my trucks etc. This will be my first full time 4WD with automatic transmission. As far as how to engage different features each vehicle is different as you probably know. Thank you for the response
nice choice!!! I understand. With the transfer case on the Grenadier you need to use a little force in the beginning (especially when they are new). I would call it a "positive action" to engage the gear. I have no problems with engagements of HI/LO, diff locks, etc. Only thing i observe: it takes a while for the locks to dis-engage....requires sometimes a few turns.
In the low range when you put the transmission in manual mode how can you lock the gears? For instance if you want to go downhill in 1st gear the transmission should stay locked in 1st no mater what. But if it is in manual mode but not locked, if you put it in 5th and you start from stand still the transmission should change gears form 1st to 5th. Does it have this feature?
if you want to start with a high gear, it will shift down automatically to the gear needed to get going (depending on LOW or HI). but then it stays in that gear until you shift up (in manual mode). does that answer the question?
@@grenadier_exploring Two different scenarios: 1. when going downhill, if it's very steep, I prefer to lock the automatic gearbox in manual mode 1st gear and engine compression will be enough to slow down the car to a walking pace. HDC is on just as a safety secondary feature as I don't like it's lag, can be dangerous on muddy conditions. 2. When going uphill for a long steep climb I lock the gearbox in manual mode, start from standstill with 2nd gear and if needed on the last 1/3 or 1/4 of the climb I shift in 3rd gear. So, when locked in manual mode my gearbox is 100% acting like a manual gearbox, just I don't have a clutch to operate having both worlds of auto and manual gearbox. This feature also allows to start from standstill in 4th gear and the gearbox will stay locked in that gear, which is helpful when I am in mud as I can use the little traction I have with low torque. Locking in manual mode only work in Low. It's a LR Disco 2 TD5 Auto. Can you operate the same with the Ineos Grenadier, locking the gearbox exactly in the gear you want, no matter what revs is the engine, or the computer will eventually shift gears by itself?
did now some checks, here are the results: 1.) the transmission never shifts up for you!! 2.) when slowing down in a high gear, the transmission will eventually go to a lower gear automatically - when u approach a RPM that is too low for the engine (no matter if in AUTO or MANUAL) 3.) the highest gear you can start with depends on the selection of the transfer case. 2nd gear in HI and 3rd gear in LOW! 4.) you still have to shift up manually, no matter which gear you had selected when stopping (in MANUAL) hope I could answer all the questions?!

When this vehicle has proven as reliable and durable as its equivalent Toyota Models, I’ll agree to the extra 30k price tag just for the looks which so far from every point of view is the only advantage over its direct competitors
That price difference is only for America. For the rest of the world, the Toyota landcrusier is actually 20-30k more than an Ineos, hence a better deal.
Interesting that the wading mode turns off the cooling fan, so it doesn’t throw water all over the engine. Smart. I wonder if any other manufacturers have thought of that?!
and it's not cutting into the water! if u pay attention in the video, it also switches to "recirc air" and closes the air intake for the heating-a/c. there is a list in the manual of what is turned off....
@@grenadier_exploring It stops the fan from driving into the radiator. It also turns off the diesel PF burn cycle. You need to be in low range locked and below 30kmh I believe
You should never take your seat belt off while driving especially not when off-roading. The only exception is perhaps when wading very deep water as you may need to get out very quickly if something goes wrong.
u are absolutely right. but if you need to scout a lot, get in and out of the car and are not in danger of rolling the car over etc., then it is a nice feature as well. The new Defender wouldn't let you even move the car without seat belt on. And: the warning is OFF in the wading mode as well.

@@grenadier_exploring I did get a response from and Ineos Grenadier Sales person who said they spoke with and engineer who said there wasn't a speed restriction and that proper CDL usage during handover. I presume that is the transition from a high traction to low traction surface. I have a test drive lined up next month in Seattle, USA and will be sure to ask them, but do you have any additional insights now that you have more KMs of use?
i am sticking to the guidelines we got in Morocco and what I found in the manual so far. If you get the info, pls let me know. Should I hear something, I´ll post it as well
Would love to see a clip in 1st gear low. Maybe even with outside view. From what I can see you started of in 2nd gear?
Noted! i will definitley show that in my offroad-video. probably also on a steep descend with engine braking only. plus i will add some outside footage 👍🏻
@@grenadier_exploring I could not wish for more. Thanks for the reply!
My understanding is that, when in low range, the vehicle automatically starts in 2nd gear. You can of course go into manual mode and select 1st gear. 🙂
that is absolutely correct!!
Could you make a video of the size of the rear cargo area? I would also love to see a video of it side by side with an old Defender 110 and a Gelandawagen LWB.
i am actually preparing a video with all the dimensions - including cargo - release next week. the comparison with an old Defender 110 is actually a good idea...
@@grenadier_exploring it seems a bit wider, with a shorter cargo area, but the other dimensions seem similar
dimensions are now online in the latest video!
Forgive me if it's already been covered, but what's the little green thing underneath and to the left of the hazard lights button?
...that's a little sticker, I guess from the film crew when we were recording in Morocco during my "HardWayHome"....forgot to remove it 🙈🤪😬🙈. Ineos should release the movies soon 🤗
@@grenadier_exploring Ah! I see, I thought it could have been a secret button for something. (ejector seat perhaps ; )
🤪🤪 maybe a good thing to add....for complaining co-drivers 😈
A paper user manual is included? Do you know something about the online repair manual?
i got only a pdf manual but i didn't ask for a paper version. as far as i know, the repair manual is not yet released....they are working on it.
Are there any front and rear cameras? Or just parking sensors?
PDC front and rear and a camera in the rear. will show it in a video next week!!! nice feature: u can see the tow ball in it!
Does the car come with electric brakes? Mine was due to be delivered in December but still waiting. Should come in June or July they reckon.
no electric brakes. good old handbrake with a big handle and a cable
The diff lock engagement seems really easy no problems.
it really is! all three of them...
to select downhill control do you need to switch off diff locks first?
Hello Mark! the front and/or rear diff. locks have to be off!! the center one can still be engaged! otherwise the system can't brake the wheels individually.
The grey plastic looks 10 years old already, hope this is a trick of the light or is it really that damaged?
Which part of the grey plastic looks 10 years old? I can't see any damage or wear? What am I missing?
oh i see what you mean - around the utility belt?! i guess that is a combination of the salt residue from the roads in the austrian alps and the light! the plastic still looks fine in "real life" 😅
Thanks for the reply
@@DavesIneosGrenadier look at the utility belt at 18s
@@romeandcurry6915 I was focused on the inside. You are correct, all of the plastic outside looks strange. Bumpers, flares, utility belt. As they are all from different suppliers I am wondering if they are all just covered in dust. He said previously that he won't be washing it often
It would be great if you could address speakers on your next video!
i will do one about the infotainment system and of course the speakers will be included 👍🏻
@@grenadier_exploring Yes please. Cameras, audio, and sensors would be cool to see! Thanks.
it's on my list!! back home in a week and then i will produce those vids 👍🏻
When this vehicle has proven as reliable and durable as its equivalent Toyota Models, I’ll agree to the extra 30k price tag just for the looks which so far from every point of view is the only advantage over its direct competitors
time will tell. I hope the Grenadier gets near those Toyotas
@@DavesIneosGrenadier all correct! it limits the speed to 30km/h or 18mph
They have put the steering wheel on the wrong side
i let them know....hope they can fix that 😜
You should never take your seat belt off while driving especially not when off-roading.
Or whilst filming under controlled conditions. And to demonstrate the functions of the vehicle.. geez
