Glyphosate is terribly slow. But it works. I do appreciate the naming/branding of "Sahara" considering what it does. And then upgrading the formulation and going to "Mohave" - kudos to that creative department.
Yes, the beauty of that material is that it cleans up a lot that you can’t see. It’s mobility under the soil. Tends to wipe out areas around the application placement. It’s incredible how long it will keep the ground clear. They actually do have a recommendation on the label to mix it with glyphosate as well and it has to be used with a surfactant also.
my buddy in the neighborhood did his front lawn last summer/fall at the same time I was doing mine, but he had a truck load of "black dirt" brought in to cover his yard where just I tilled and verticut the heck out of mine....well now this year his is full of new weeds that he never had before, about a month ago I look over there and he had all these dead spots where it looked like he'd sprayed glyphosate, so I asked him what he used and he said "I thought it was suppose to safe for lawns" and pulls out the big gold jug of Round Up with the fancy auto/powered sprayer wand, that clearly in big letters the jug says WEED & GRASS KILLER on it ....anyway now the weeds are growing right back, but the grass isn't, haha but I can't even convince him that he should mow more often if he wants it to look like mine ....as last year and even early this spring our yards looked about the same, as we used the same store bought seed; but now I mow about every three days and keep mine trimmed and thick(I haven't had any weeds nor treatment for them yet at all) but he waits until his yard gets all tall, lanky, out of control, and ugly before he mows it all down - and he told me(so did many of the other neighbors) that I started mowing my yard way too early in the year, and that it is bad to mow any more than once a week(they only mow about once a month!) - but people just look at my yard! - and they accuse me of doing all kinds of anti-environmental stuff to it to make it weed free and "look like a golf course"(as they call it) but I don't, and just run my eMower before it ever starts to look bad .... good grief: the guy nextdoor uses Aviation gas in his mower that has 20 times the amount of lead in it than was once allowed to be sold for passenger cars, but I'm the bad guy for having a battery mower and actually using it often enough to keep my lawn nice and weed free, ok then
Not sure about Utah weeds, but I have great results spraying Prodiamine in mulch and stone areas at max rate. It prevents 95% of the weeds from germination but still have to spot glypho some sprouts that pop up during the summer. 53% Glyphosate from Tractor Supply and some surfactant really wipes them out quick if sprayed during the right conditions.
Alligare makes a Imazapyr 4SL that is readily available. I use it at around the house in the gravels areas and for out gravel parking lot at the shop. It 52% vs the .47% in the Ortho concentrate. Fwiw the Ortho ground clear is $9 at Walmart if anyone just wanted to do a small area.
I prices checked the ground clear locally, 13.00 amazon 10.00. Not sure why it was high. Imazapyr works great, and I know a lot of bae ground applicators that do that with gly for their knockouts
I don’t think you can even get this product anymore but 40 years ago my work used Hy-var, it’s a ground sterilant but the negative to it is that it leached and just kept killing everything that it came in contact with! I’m pretty sure it’s been discontinued! I’ve used Prodiamine in my rock areas and have had decent success?! We now use Garlon, I think they mix some Glysophate in with it to kill what’s up but the Garlon is like a pre-emergent and creates a barrier that doesn’t allow new weeds to grow. We use this product in our sun stations and it’s a rock if coarse
In 2019, researchers at University of Washington concluded that using glyphosate increases the risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma by 41 percent. In the study, published in Mutation Research, researchers wrote that an analysis of human epidemiological studies “suggests a compelling link between exposures to [glyphosate-based herbicides] and increased risk” for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
My wife now knows that where she sees a weed IN the grass that she should NOT use weed AND grass killer. 😢 Just the same, I'm now in charge of mixing all control agents used in our lawn.
"Thats what it sounds like in my head"!!! I also enjoyed you stomping the weed with your union work boots! 🩴 another great video! I may or may not be using this product...aka, this is the product to get the job done! However its a mover, needs to be applied correctly as you stated!
These Comments and video have been very helpful. I believe i have similar weeds in the Minneapolis area. Anyone aware of what I could use in a lawn area? Thistles i could spot treat. I also have a ton of dandelions that i can’t easily spot treat😕
Excellent timing JP, So what is the deal using Borax ? I know how to kill a lawn still trying safer methods plus I have a puppy that chews on everything.
@@Lawncology I've used all the broadleaf blends available locally, which are primarily dicamba, 2 4 d, quinclorac and a variable 4th chemical. My best results are #1 Bayer & #2 Ortho. Nutsedge gets its own special attention. Thistles always require multiple assaults but it's not a problem for me. I throw a 2 gallon pump up on the John Deere and stalk my prey. My spine no longer permits walking the yard so I've simply automated. Ain't technology grand? 😆😅🤣

First Aussie 😁. Thanks for the Nukeology lesson. 😎

Lol. That’s sounds about right

@@Lawncology It's the best option I know of. One app and you're good for the year.
Coffees back … awesome!
Back, black and delish

Well it happens. Everyone seems to have that happen at least and hopefully only once
I just glyphed my reno. Wish it worked quicker, lol.
Slow but good
Message heard. 😂 Thanks

great video very informative
Thank you
Are there better weed killers for gravel that have residual control?
Better than what was mentioned here? Imazapyr works great
Thanks I'll give it a try

You could spray a product called T-Zone SE. which will cleanup most lawn weeds in cool season grass.
Like the Mojave 💪🏻 let’s get dangerous 😆
Lol. It is a total killer. I was trying to find its potential leach area for reference
Weeds in driveway cracks end up meeting my string trimmer
Say hello to my little friend!
Excellent timing JP, So what is the deal using Borax ? I know how to kill a lawn still trying safer methods plus I have a puppy that chews on everything.
Yeah you can smoke stuff with borax or just salt. Hell, white vinegar too.
I need Mojave for my side bank. Weeds get out of hand.
GLY-PHO-SATE
Oh, have you tried the road salt we use in Canada? That shit works great for preventing my lawn from growing first thing each spring!
Salt is wonderful seasoning for grass
👍🤙
Whatever man … lol!
That’s a true feeling
I detest thistles in my lush KBG...
Chemical warfare is justified!
What do you use typically? Triclopyr? Dicamba? Tzone always works well
