I have had my civic Lx for 5 years now and done a lot of mods on it. Until the time I wanted to supercharge it, everyone was telling me to just sell this car and get an Si so I don’t waste the money because I can never make a slow car fast. However I did it anyway because I just really didn’t wanna sell this car, there are a lot of memories in it and even tho I had a few cars before it, this is the first that makes me want to learn about cars and enjoy every single time I ordered, installed, or fixed any modifications on it. I did it because I enjoy working on my car, not because I want it to be the fastest car. People say this all the time but I only truly understand it now: at the end of the day, it is your car. The thing you know will make you happy if you do it, is what really matters, not everyone’s opinions. If you always listen to everyone, you will never be satisfied because there will never be enough. Just my 2 cents.
I have stock internal 1.8 engine in a Civic FD1 (r18a1) but I Turbocharged it to 310bhp, 250lbs-ft as a custom kit that I put together and installed myself and its 3 years strong and still going as my daily driver. The turbo is a custom td04hl-18t turbo at 11psi with a 3" custom exhaust and bro, seriously it kickass; there is hardly anyone keeping up with me. So yeah I just dont understand the hate on the R18 in America, the only real issue people are not getting power on this platform is the lack of bollz to push it with a smart tuner and making so sacrifices... I had to get rid of my AC to achieve this lol but I'm a little hardcore like that plus the UK is hella cold/wet so never used it anyway. I love the R18 its such an underdog plus still got decent MPG and responds well to boost plus its such a sleeper.
Jahangir Ali Excuse me my friend but how you get 310 brake horse power (314hp) with a stock r18a1 engine? Which turbo have you installed? I’m a fd1 owner and i am interesting to turbocharge it but the numbers with a Garrett GT2860RS are a little low. 235min-255 whp max at 8-9 psi (0.55-0.60 bar). I want my car to be a safe daily car.
I feel the same way about my 2006 Coupe EX civic. I still think the R18 has a lot of pull when you bang gears with a manual transmission but driving around on the freeway not headed anywhere in particular at 3am you start to realize that 140hp just isn't close to enough power. Still my coupe was the first one of the 8th gens to be sold in Toronto and the old owner took such good care of the thing with proper maintenance, top of the line synthetic oils, 89 octane and oil stabilizers it's still running in my hands mint condition with 400,000kms and a brand new R18 swapped. I just can't bring myself to get rid of the fucking car IT NEEDS BOOST
Glad to see somebody doing something different, I have an 08 Si HFP Civic coupe & a 2008 Honda Civic Ex coupe. I was looking into getting a Jackson racing kit for my r18, like I said something different rather then all my friends doing k swaps and b series. The r series is interesting to see what we can get out of a single jingle. Nice video my dude keep up the content
Great video format dude, you were really good at getting your narrative out. Lots of car people just vlog themselves and barely show what ever they're talking about. Their videos almost suffer from ADHD. This was really good
I feel you man. I have an 08 Civic LX and it holds a lot of sentimental value for me. People are always telling me to buy an Si but they are overpriced now.
Im 17 have a 2013 lx 2 door, just being a coupe had me hooked because i am a teen, i put a exhaust on it and im going for a cold air intake next. The car may not be fast but the fact that its mine makes me so happy, even if its slow the time ive had under my car just putting on the exhaust just made me more happy then ive ever been i love it not because its fast because its mine
Ayy! Listening to you describe why you wanted to supercharge your r18 is like listening to myself hahah. I've been about a year doing research and collecting budget options to do a custom SC setup on my 09 r18! Doing it full custom I've had some hiccups of course, but it's all about the learning experience for me! Have to start somewhere! Pumped to see a JR 9th Gen! Hope it works out well!
I have a 07 honda civic lx, have the 1.8 in it also known as the 1. SLOW only about 89 HP stock, I am sure my go cart would be faster then this thing LOL so I was wondering how well it's been holding up on the stock internals? How much power gain did you get? K swap would be nice but the cheapest I can fined is 1,500.00 for bare head & block. Just looking to PIMP MY RIDE with out the 1,000 tv screens everywhere lol. 🤙
Mines an auto with 262k and doesn't mind getting bounced off 2nd gear rev limiter about 6 times before going to 3rd. Should I just get a hondata and blow it up
Just curious how many miles is on your civic? I got a 2014 civic for in town driving. i wanted something with more power like and s4 or s8 but right now doesn’t make since to buy one. I was going to sell the but no need to since I’ve seen people put a supercharger on it, only thing is mine has 148k miles. 😅
Mine was around 140k. Never had any mechanical issues. Ended up blowing the head gasket, but only because I was running with a cracked radiator on track. R18 are pretty stout if you take care of them haha
Did you do internals or are the guts stock. I am looking to add more power but the car is just to go to work and back and to go get milk. There is times were I need the power to go up hills an keep up with traffic. Any ideas besides getting an si?
OMG!!!!! LITERALLY FIRST MINUTE IT ME. EXHAUST, CAI, WHEELS, AN SUSPENSION. then of course the mod bug doesnt want you to stop so you go back online looking at more car parts and trying to see what you can afford until the next paycheck 😩
Hey I've got a few questions, what happened to your mpg when you put the supercharger on? Also how did you get the JR Supercharger to fit on your car? I thought it was only for 8th gen civics??
I have a video replacing the supercharger a while back but that’s about it. I just had to reroute some intercooler pipes and trim an alternator bracket

Why arent you getting enough likes?
What mods did you do because I am having a hard time finding them, pls send websites
I totally agree with you and I feel the same way with my car. It hold so many memories of me as a kid.
I'm so glad to see this video. There's just something about the r18 civics that's captivating
Appreciate it!

I feel that bro
Kept my r18 and got an si definitely not worth it modding an r18 but still cool to see

I really want to boost my 2006 Civic FG1. Not a lot of people want to boost the R18s, so I would like to be unique
I agree, I also wanna boost my 08 Civic FA1.
Thank you for your video I love my first build (R18 08 civic) planning to supercharge mine as well. Also my daily. I love this car so much
Definitely could use your help building my r18 2015 civic ex coupe have no clue where to start
i got a 1.8 ex with the r18. if you put a bit of mods on them, it really opens it up. fun little engines :)

I’m gonna boost an r18 soon. My uncle gave me the car for free so that’s what I’m going to work with.
Boosted is the way to go! 👍 nice build.

Why did you show a Rotrex blower when you claimed Jackson Racing ??
Jackson racing is the kit, Rotrex is the supercharger
@@ghostdude360 So you're saying Jackson Racing sold you a Rotrex ?
I'm confused.
I own a Kraftwerks Supercharged Civic....
wanted to boost my 9th gen R18 too any suggestion for boost? and any advice
Depends on what you plan to do with the car
Reckless Media I want to boost it in the future Boss, but unfortunately I have auto. any suggestion? and If you dont mind may I have your Ig
Reckless Media I want it as a daily driving btw
Mines an auto as well haha. As far as I know supercharging is the cheapest and easiest way at the moment. My IG is jowlvee
Reckless Media for real? I thought turbo charge are way cheaper than super charge?
Hey I've got a few questions, what happened to your mpg when you put the supercharger on? Also how did you get the JR Supercharger to fit on your car? I thought it was only for 8th gen civics??
I didn’t notice much of a difference but it depends on how you drive. A little bit of rerouting intercooler pipes and modifying the alternator bracket
Do you have a tutorial on this? Do you know of one? What kind of fabrication did you do?
I have a video replacing the supercharger a while back but that’s about it. I just had to reroute some intercooler pipes and trim an alternator bracket
How much do you think the kit costed as well as any possible reinforcements on the engine?
I got a deal on a used kit so it worked out well for me but new they are around 3k. I’d recommend replacing the motor mounts and automatic tensioner
@@ghostdude360 how much did the kit cost you used? I'm shopping around right now.
Nice
What would it run in the quarter mile?
Probably similar times to a stockish si. Maybe I’ll give it a shot sometime
Answer to the title
''Why not''
Will the turbo kit or any r18 turbo kit for the 8th gen civics in general fit the 9th gen r18 ?
Should be bolt on besides intercooler piping. I believe 8th gens have a smaller radiator
please tell me what headlights those are
Is yours auto or manual cause I’m want to supercharge mines eventually it’s a auto 2010 lx-s sedan
It is currently an automatic
Can you boost r18 without changing internals? And what is the max psi for stock internals?
Yes I believe you can run stock internals up to mid 300 hp.
Hey man just a question I have 2013 lx could I put that same supercharger kit on my car and I checked which kit did you use
If it has an R18 it should be compatible. It’s from Jackson racing
@@ghostdude360 also did you have to get rid of the ac or anything
How much hp are you pushing now?
So the CVT transmission holds up OK with the bolt on supercharger kit?
It’s not a cvt. 5 speed automatic, no issues so far
Do u have a link to the kit?
No I believe the Jackson Racing r18 supercharger kit has been discontinued. But there is a Kraftwerks kit that is very similar available
How much horse power you have now with the supercharger?
Last time it was on the dyno it made 207 to the wheels on 8 lbs of boost.
Hey guy can i boost r18 auto gear , and swap it to odyssey 1995
Anything is possible with enough determination
Hm power for the boosted r18a Bro tnx
It’s currently making 207 to the wheels on 8 lbs of boost.
