Was randomly recommended your video, love it! I run a Phenax EDH deck as well and absolutely love my Eater of the Dead (cannot believe how expensive it's become, I got mine for roughly 7~8$). Good stuff and all these cards synergize great especially that Avatar of Woe drop as I run that card as well and casting it for just 2 mana always feels great!

Awesome, glad you liked it. I try to highlight cards I use that maybe aren't on the EDHREC site, or are otherwise under-used gems. Thanks for watching.

Man, I love this deck and your dry humor is great. I’ve been playing Phenax as a commander since he was released and always looking for new ways to break him. Good video!

He is awesome, I want to give some of these older commanders the credit they deserve. Thanks for watching!

Breaking things for Phenax?? Let me introduce my good friends who are bisted with Thousand-Year Elixer: Faerie Artisans, and Undead Alchemist. Their ever so slightly slower cousin, Bloodline Keeper is also a win.

I have a Grimgrin deck with Phenax as a hidden commander. I figured u/b draw and tutor + the token production and untap effects that Grimgrin likes would benefit from having Phenax as a back up plan.

I like the idea of back-up commander, especially in equipment decks. You always need an alternate win condition. In this deck it's Rise of the Dark Realms and some of the combos.
Grimgrin is a fantastic, under-appreciated card. What a unit he is.

      Bojuka Bog!
Honestly, that is the downside to this.

That's why Sentinel Totem is a go to artifact for me :)

I love my Phenax deck, the first commander deck I built which im always tinkering with.
Your missing Bruvac for the Bruvac + Maddening Cacophony combo, i like to mill everyone at the same time.

I know! I want a Bruvacm but Jumpstart had such a weird release, it was like $40 when I went looking for it. It's like $20 right now, so maybe I'll pick one up. Thanks for Watching!

Just stumbled onto this deck (my brother is actually the artist for Phenax!) as I was trying to put together a Phenax mill deck. Question though, in the vid you show Maddening Cacophony but the deck list link on Mox doesn’t include it. Was curious why you removed it and what you replaced it with. Thx for the time!

Replaced Maddening Cacophony with Memory Erosion. I think I just wanted a more consistent source of mill.
