Yo! Darius! I had to let you know, hopefully you see this! But it was you that got me into filmmaking years ago! I just became a senior Producer/Director for a Broadcast TV station! I would’ve stayed miserable in my old job if it wasn’t for you bro bro. Just had to say thanks 🙏🏾 I really do appreciate you man.
You may have watched a few of my videos but it was you who made the choice to change your life Brutha. I'm happy to know that I had a small part in your journey 🤜🤛
Thomas newman is the greatest and most underrated composer of all time. - American Beauty - Six Feet Under - Finding Nemo - Wall-E - The shawshank Redemption
If you're trying to give your film project that unique fresh spin on a musical level, you may consider getting an original score! There are a ton of talentet composers here on RUclips who are just starting out and would be utmost happy to help you achieve that little something you are looking for. Great video and stay safe everyone!
I won't enter the challenge but to anyone who does, read this. The music drives the mood of your project. Music has the power to alter your brainwaves from excited, angry to passionate bruh you get the gist so take the sound game up higher than your actual motion picture. Make it so that a blind man could listen to it but still visualize what's going on. All the best.
I completely agree with the cohesiveness aspect. Eventually find a song fits my video, I will always hit that find similar to keep the flow the same. Thanks for the video

I took your advice on changing the speed of the music IT IS GENIUS!!! I did it for a short film I'm making, and a song that was gonna be too fast is now perfect!
Hey man, can I just say how much of a help you have been? How much of an inspiration to me you have been? Ever since I stumbled upon your channel, it has been non-stop support, a very unique and entertaining aesthetic, and overall a great educational opportunity on the sort of field I have bene going to school for. I really admire the positive and direct approach you take with these videos, being realistic and optimistic at the same time. It's really refreshing. I actually just bought my first camera, and have used this video to research and cross reference information on production mics. So ,what I am trying to say is ..... Thank you.
Come to feed the algorithm and say that these music editing strategies are new to me and after 10 years watching filmmaking youtube videos that's impressive.
This is a great vid of tips. Several years ago I experimented with a music sample for a client, and spliced in a section where it played backwards. It added a very compelling dimension; especially when adjusting the tempo up and down. You've got me reminiscing!
I am producing my first short film right now and reference you a lot. I'm going through round two to redo the whole thing! (very short film of 5min). Man I feel like I forget everything and how it's done right/cinematically even after all the study! So much to learn and I have nothing but respect for film makers! phew!
I like your use of the word TEXTURE to describe music in films. The texture is not to be confused with layers, although textures can be layered. Texture is the feel of something. Another definition says texture is the character of something. Despite being a musician and it being seemingly obvious, I will now forever look at music as textures when synced to video.
I recently finished my first video and never thought about music until I started editing. Wasn't sure what kind of music would suit the film, or where to put it in so I didn't use much. I think I lucked out with the finished product, though. I will have to check out Artlist for my next project. Thanks for the tip.
D4Darious, Peter Lindgren and KaiCreative - Kai Song,, all used to be HENCH before they started Filmmaking… now they have all shrunk. Filmmaking = Loss of Biceps 😲
Loved this. I’ve done the same sort of thing with my boxing feature I’m editing, I added music cos I wanted to not because I needed too. I wanted the film to have texture and character too. Would really love to act in one of tour films somehow
I really like Artlist but charging an extra 50% markup for sound effects feels like a jab especially considering the state of the economy. I really appreciated that Epidemic included it with the subscription and I havent seen that discussed during the many reviews online.
This is a good vid for me to understand on songs to use in my films ... So DR I know this isn't the time to ask but would you ever consider doing another feature film to add to your belt ? 😁...
Can audio narration we record ourselves be used? Or does all the audio have to come from AL? Didn't see it addressed on the FAQ but I'm assuming it's ok.
So all the footage, music and sound effects have to be from Artlist and Artgrid. Where do we stand on titles, captions, additional audio and voicework?
The tone of the music in your robe scene created a bit of subtle tension between them, sort of the subtext between them that’s not being verbally said & thus obvious (the point you we’re making about music choices), which is fitting seeing the are physically separate (due to 👑🦠) & the weight of it is having a toll on them individually (although maybe there’s other issues causing it not being addressed where 👑🦠 is covering it up?). I forget & would have to rewatch your short, which was excellent, to see. 👍🏽👍🏽
Yo, Braw braw I got a question. I need to get a new tripod. Do you still recommend the one from your video. That was a while ago. Is it still a solid choice?
My thing with these sound/music subscription based services is that what happens if you cancel your subscription? Like will my videos get copyrighted? Can I not use my downloaded songs? Idk and that's the main reason I usually stay away from them
Hey Darious, I was wondering if you're still willing to do script discussions. I'm not sure if you just kept in your pasted descriptions and website or if I'm a complete fool who can't read all that well, but I can't seem to find any way to contact you for that!
what if i want to use their music and cancel the subscription after a month? would i get a refund for the rest of the amount?and would i be able to use the music which i downloaded during my subscribed period? PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.
Hey I was wondering how do you be an actor in your film but don’t have access to money and a camera man so how do be a camera man and an actor at the same time
I have made few short films so far , all are zero budget , interested people check it , note : it isn't English , it is in Tamil , but English subtitles are there.
Lol auto generated captions read _“Yo, Dairy Spirit here.”_
Guess I can't watch this video then, I'm lactose intolerant.
and "i will be the judge in this artless editing challenge"😂
I can’t unhear that
Glad to see music getting its due credit. Once again, if you ever want a composer, I’d love to work with you on a film one day!
Thank you for the offer Bruh.

Wow, I didn’t realise slowing down the music could be so effective!
I’m a freshman and this is my first year in a video production class and this helped a lot, thanks
Come to feed the algorithm and say that these music editing strategies are new to me and after 10 years watching filmmaking youtube videos that's impressive.
I never thought about changing the timing of a sound clip (music or sound effect). What a great idea. Thanks!
This is a great vid of tips. Several years ago I experimented with a music sample for a client, and spliced in a section where it played backwards. It added a very compelling dimension; especially when adjusting the tempo up and down. You've got me reminiscing!
Sick tip on slowing down a sound clip or using a low pass filter for a different effect! Thank you for sharing

Editing the speed and sound of the track is a great idea. Definitely going to work that in to future videos. Thank you!

Wow it was really helpful, I agree with you Music Matters a Lot!!
Glad you’re one of the judges! I’ve learned so much from your videos. Can’t wait to see the other entries for the challenge.
Great video. Learned this from watching films like Social Network.
Never thought about the speed of music to get different sounds, thanks D 👍
Thank YOU Jojo.
Wouldn’t it be dope if Hollywood directors did an artlist/art grid challenge !
changing speed of videoclips = common sense. changing speed of music clips = wait... that's genius !! For real Darious, thanks a lot! :)
Introducing: The Ambient D4darius, a mellow fellow with a soft spoken demeanor.
Glad to come back to your channel and see you growing and growing. Hope you are well buddy and keep strong in your projects. Take care bro ;)
this came just at the right time!! Thank you, good job as always!
I'm thinking of taking a music composition and theory online in the future. I used to play cello and want to explore digital orchestration.
You should.
Love the tip to edit the music clip! Keep up the good work.

Yo darrius where you at bruh bruh?
I also very often pitch shift music down, changing the playback speed, it usually creates something completely new and unque and awesome
That sound bite that's from The Walking Dead 00:20
Cool
where did you get the idea to show space shuttle launch footage/sounds at the beginnings of your videos?
Thanks!
thanks man!

So all the footage, music and sound effects have to be from Artlist and Artgrid. Where do we stand on titles, captions, additional audio and voicework?
Just Artlist and Artgrid for video. Titles and captions should be good because it's not considered either. I don't know about the vocal audio though
@@Lonelyeco I just checked the actual Artlist video for this and in the comments they're saying additional voiceover, sfx and vfx are allowed.
I love you man
