Holy shit man your cinematography is just insane. Like I see your shots and they are gorgeous and then you explain why and it just makes so much sense, proper skill there
I'm exhausted. What a BTS vid. I loved the short and this is so much information that I need to add it to "view later" so I can take more notes on what you did here. Fantastic work with what you had. So impressed.
Loved it! I am currently working on my entry for the Rode Reel and this is very helpful. For those who don’t know the Rode Reel is a short film competition for 1 millions dollars
Why do i love this more than the actual film itself? The thought processes behind the decisions, and how you weave them together in a seamless BTS video... just amazing.
I don’t know of any other filmmaking channel that goes into as much detail and specifics on how to make a film. It’s wonderful to see such concentrated filmmaking content right here.
Your production value is CRAZY inspiring!! You deserve so much recognition for the work you put into what you do, and I appreciate the knowledge that you so graciously share with us!
I like the composition of that garage shot. It doesnt matter if you're centered or on a third, as long as the frame feels balanced, which it is. good stuff broseph
@@D4Darious sorry man but I think that the key is that absessive passion that you have. The obsession to take out the idea as it come in your mind and to not settle to less than that. You are an inspiration to me. I am not in the movie making industry but I can relate to your process in my entrepreneurship journey in Cameroon. I am learning a lot from your methodology to do the absolute best with the resources you have at hand
DUDE. These BTS breakdown videos are GOLD. I appreciate your rapid pace in these, but you could literally slow the delivery down a little, add some placement charts, basic lens/sound/lighting theory, and script writing breakdown and you'd have an epic indie film course.
I don't think I've ever watched a tutorial video that was this entertaining. Great information and extremely well delivered. Thank you for what you do. I've been having some issues with motivation lately, though some time constraints are involved which have made it easier not to do something. But I really need find the time to create something. I feel inspired after your video. Again, Thank you.
I just found you. I wish I discovered you at the beginning of the pandemic. Anyways, you're a great teacher. At 1st, I felt so insecure watching this video. But you've been doing this a while so I shouldn't try to compare My knowledge to your knowledge. I really should just, Edit what I have an upload. At any rate, I'm just going to start doing my thing and keep coming back been watching your channel to get better. Thank you so much for providing so much value you in all of your videos.🙏
My brain can’t soak up the information as fast as yours can spill it out but..Keep it going! Our minds are never in quarantine and your work is proof of that.
This was a super informative behind the scenes look. Unlike most people who say what they did, you said why you did it, and that is very helpful! Thanks!
DAM YOU JUST GAVE ME MY HOPE BACK. I STARTED A PRODUCTION COMPANY WITH NO TRAINING IN FILMING. BUT I BELIEVE IN ME, I REALLY WANTED A TEAM BUT I PUT ALMOST ALL MY MONEY ON MY GEAR. THANKS A LOT REALLY.
The methods behind the creative madness! Your approach is very efficient, the art of film making is getting the maximum desired effects from the available tools, you are slaying it young brother! Love me some Sirui anamorphic on my GH-4 also, and yes I am in the Indegogo campaign for the 35mm.
Really enjoyed the short but this BTS is outstanding so insightful and informative. The explanation of how you visualise the shots and then adjusted the lighting to achieve them is fantastic I always learn so much from your videos bravo
So amazing. Thank you for this! Wow. Other folks have said the same, but I'm also in the "yes I watched this now but I must watch this again later" crowd. Fast forward film school.
I love how quick each breakdown is. I feel like it gives me quick ideas of how I can make my own adjustment for lighting and composition. reaching toward your production techniques and my own at the same time. Thanks for your commitment to your art. Also great film
Thank you for posting this video. I also live in Tucson and you make our city look amazing. Like wow we do not gotta go to LA,Ny,Fl,atl. I look up to you. Big inspiration. Anyone can do it if they put their heart into it.
This was awesome D. And as a bonus I find out about the 35mm!! Congratulations on the fine gear, although it's about the creativity, it's also the freedom great gear gives to the creativity.
This was so good and filled with such filmmaking goodies!!!! The film was great perfectly capturing the tone of isolation during these times! Keep it up, D!!
Great video D! I learn something new and get inspiration every time I watch one of your videos. I’m working on my first short right now during shelter in place. 10000 hours.
Love both the movie and the bts. Also pre-production bts would be fun. Writing a script, storyboard, planning shots etc... Great work. I am a proud subscriber for few years now :)
This is so great man! Learn way more from you than any film course I've taken. Would love to see a post-production breakdown of this as well, if you were willing
You are amazing at this, you know that! My favorite shot was the hand washing one (the one from right side). Loved the lighting through out the short. PS: you need a better tripod head, man. :D
Love the BTS coverage and the "why" behind it - super useful for developing the mindset.
The Videos that you make for Audio Equipment are priceless I have made some decisions based on your reviews. Thank you
@@RajeshMaallah Thanks!
Refreshing to see big RUclipsrs watching other big RUclipsrs videos and showing love. Dopenessss

@Zack Darce I think you're the one that, technically, rocks the drum kit better than us all! Keep it up!
D, Seriously you need to make these more often. I learn so much in such a short amount of time. Thank you.
Just Subbed for the D4Academy
Same. I learned more about cameras here than the entirety of my cinematography course in college.
Great breakdown.
Holy shit man your cinematography is just insane. Like I see your shots and they are gorgeous and then you explain why and it just makes so much sense, proper skill there

Good luck Fam!
You’re the first content creator I started following in my filmmaker journey. I’m so happy to have you as a teacher!
Bro. You made this soooo entertaining! Normally these type of videos are more like tutorials and that's really boring
It's the making of an unpretentious true filmmaker, before our very eyes!
Thank you for always doing the behind the sense because the help me with my films 🙏🏽🙏🏽👋🏾🤙🏽
Thank you for watching Logan. Glad you find them useful.
Loved it! I am currently working on my entry for the Rode Reel and this is very helpful. For those who don’t know the Rode Reel is a short film competition for 1 millions dollars
Keep learning Dhuxy. 🤜🤛
go crush it.
I’ll try :D
Dhuxy try to have fun doing it as well ;)
Why do i love this more than the actual film itself? The thought processes behind the decisions, and how you weave them together in a seamless BTS video... just amazing.

Definitely missed this series. Always enjoyable 🙏
Thanks for sharing. Loved the short. Appreciating it even more now.
Love this stuff. Knowing your settings, the lighting, blocking and all the film nerd stuff and seeing the results are the greatest way to learn.
Your production value is CRAZY inspiring!! You deserve so much recognition for the work you put into what you do, and I appreciate the knowledge that you so graciously share with us!
Awesome. Thank you for this. Great to see you back in action on YT.

Amazing! So many Gems. So much passion and hard work.
The difference when lighting that hand washing scene is incredible mate. Thanks very much for the video. You’re still my favourite 😉
Just crazy how technical movie making sounds like with Your video, nothing look finaly simple at all
It looks more complicated than it is. All the principles are very simple once you get the basics down.

Thanks for sharing your BTS process. Always nice!
Seeing the versatility of that light, I might buy it
TRULY LOVE YOUR YOU NARRATE THESE😭
The handwashing scene was one of the best shots in the film. It started a turn into the best parts of the film.
This is the best case use of False Color as this is not Vlog so pretty much you expose exactly how the audience will see!
Thank you for tuning in BGF
