Inspired by "I, Hanjo" I decided to spend competitive season 3 of Overwatch going as low as I could. This is a collection of clips I grabbed during my "expedition" into "super low tier" of competitive Overwatch - 600 SR and under. I reached a "season low" of 36 SR during this month-long experiment. None of this was staged - I assure you, I wish it had been.
I played on the PC. My ingame name is ZaWarudo. Say hi if you see me!
For those who are curious: many of these players had an ingame level (NOT SR) of 200+. Most of them were higher. A shocking number even had golden weapons. I had never seen a 600+ player level until I dropped to about the 200 SR range.

I honestly think this is beautiful. You might say it's "cute" or "they are trying their best", but while these may be true it just feels like these people are having fun nonetheless. It doesn't matter if they aren't gm or top500. They simply enjoy Overwatch

The reason you'll find more salt in Plat is because plat is sorta the last gateway between the higher tiers. And a majority of the playerbase is stuck at that gate.
There is more fun there. I remember CS:GO before last rank update : Silver 3 - Gold 4, people had fun. Higher ranks? Salt, toxic, everything that's bad. The same here, to even bigger degree - in silver every game is different, fun, people just playing the game. Little care of meta, each game, different line up in my team and enemy team. But since platinium - every game, the same heroes, the same tactics, every game just looks the same.
It's like watching a wild animal. You want to help but you don't want to interfere with nature.

It's so hard to even get to this rating, I tried losing all my placement matches and still ended up winning 4. one game I didn't even fire my gun once and we steamrolled the other team. Got 0 medals and went 4-6 and still was above 2k, I can't imagine what it takes to get to 500 or lower

The thing that most frustrated me when i played overwatch is that they all play this game like a deathmatch.
No team, all run in one by one, get killed, dont reflect, do the same again.
This happend on platinum.
The difference here is that they have bad aim on top of that, but thats okay.
They are casuals and unexperienced. Aim comes with time. But please get the basics and play as a team.

I started off at 700sr. I had and still have an average 19 fps, 100 latency, laptop. My support is now 2300, but dps and tank is about 1700.
They one tricked moira and are in masters now.

Me too! I love super low tier, some of these guys are great. Some of the nicest people I've seen in Overwatch that I didn't know personally I found down here.
I can't help but laugh at how terrible they are. Still, it's not how good you are at the game that matters, it's whether if you're having fun or not.
tbh i'd love to grab a whole bunch of em and see if i could train them to be better (the nice ones of course, the toxic ones can stay there for all i care), plus im sure a whole bunch could be parents playing for the fun of it

I know it's not really related, but smurfs were a good part of why I stopped playing overwatch. I'd be in the higher part of silver tier (I probably could've gone gold if I actually tryharded, but I insist on playing a video game for fun, and not to win, even in comp, yeah laugh it up), and it felt like silver had the worst case of smurfs out of all the tiers.
I'd see them both on their way up or down, and most of the time they'd always be in like a 4-group team with 2 other randos. It was just disheartening to either get completely demolished, or watch them just purposefully lose and taunt my team while one of them would actually be tryharding and just bullying someone on my team.

Acutally, I tried playing with a gamepad when I had just switched from PS4 to PC, and was able to match up against players on Diamonds and the players who are just barely on masters. Aiming with gamepads is not that hard, *and* aiming is not everything in Overwatch. If you lack spatial awareness like the people on this video did, even having 100% accuracy with Hanzo wouldn't be able to get you higher than silver.

I have seen plenty of others, however, that operate on a "Polygon Plays DOOM" level.
