If you use smaller delay sizes like 8ms it will have noticeable but still quite minor phase disturbances. It should be used with care, so for less important items in your mix.

yes i can confirm it does sometimes cause some phase problems when I have used it

3 to 5 milliseconds should give the illusion the sound is outside the width of your monitors, without any phasing. It’s an amazing effect.
