I thought I was a German car guy but my Cybertruck is also the most incredible vehicle I've ever owned! Never thought it would be this good or I'd like it this much
I came from a F250 Termor (diesel)… I can tell you that it’s not even close. I will most likely never go back. The cybertruck is a true engineering marvel.
I'm a Japanese and GM LS car and truck guy, and my Cyberbeast had me pretty much crossing off every car on my dream car list. Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Corvettes I pretty much have no desire for anymore. It's faster, cheaper to maintain and fuel, more comfortable and way more useful than any other car out there. It's become our family road trip vehicle and has 12k miles in the past 9 months with 0 issues And the steering feel is way better than I expected.
Middle-aged man here who's owned and driven some very nice cars over the years-- including trucks, sports cars, sedans, and coupes. Never before have I been so happy with a vehicle as I am with the Cybertruck. But never before have I seen so much misinformation, hate, and anger from others about what I drive.
My boss said people would think I was a Nazi driving around in it. Now that I've had it for a month and given lots of my coworkers a ride he keeps hinting he wants to get a ride in it. When he actually asks directly I am going the say "I didn't want people thinking you were a Nazi."
@@briansilver9652 that's crazy. The F-150 is the best selling vehicle in the US and Henry Ford actually supported the Nazi party. They came to Dearborn in 1938 to give him an award.
I’ve been a CT owner for 6 months and have previously had ICE trucks for over two decades. I offroad, tow, haul, camp, road trip, navigate complex parking lots… I’ve never had a single vehicle as versatile as this. It is both a sinful joy to drive and a utilitarian’s delight. Somehow it gets overlooked by gobs of folks who are perfect candidates for it. I’m still shocked by how many folks are surprised it has a bed, or adjustable ride height, or steer by wire, etc… our local dealership has a row of inventory CTs they can’t move, yet we are right in the middle of the sweet spot for this price point of truck and utility. (Our streets are covered in Raptors and Trex, neither of which can compete on utility or performance with the CT) Tesla needs CT specific advertising to showcase capabilities.
For us CT owners up here in upstate New York, where there are few CTs driving around, I have to schedule at least an extra half an hour for any local trips around here to answer all of the questions I get about "what the heaven are you driving". So I decided to list them on a card that I give out if I'm in a hurry, here it is: Cybertruck 30 minute dissertation short form; My 7th and last truck (previous daily drivers, all 4x4 Toyotas starting with the 1979 SR5, last Tundra, a 2014 had 220,000 miles on it), love this beast, is the future, all electric, lightning quick (0-60 2.6 sec), steer by wire progressive steering (full left to right lock 340°), 4 wheel steering (really tight turns), air suspension (17" high setting clearance), regenerative breaking (rarely use breaks), 48 volt low voltage (really small wiring harnesses), Etherloop communication, heavy duty stainless steel body, almost NO maintenance (Tires, wiper blades & fluid is about it), over the air updates, and most importantly gas pickup $60 to drive 250 miles, Cybertruck $15-$19 electricity (400 wH/mile x 250 miles at $.15-$.19/kWh) to drive 250 miles, full slow charge at home 5 hours, full fast charge at supercharger 45 minutes, and Tesla is 10-15 years ahead of everyone else.
I drove cybertruck around Austin for a couple days, to me, it's the most elite vehicle in the world. Super sexy, so fast, so cool. Made me crack up laughing because of how fast it was. When I drove around the outskirts of Austin, crowds gathered around it. I drove a McLaren for awhile, and people looked, it was cool, but crowds didn't gather. To me, the cybertruck beats Lambos and Ferraris in coolness.
@AcceleratingTech, I want to thank you for this content. I think I've watched every relevant video on this truck since it was released, but hearing from the actual people who designed it means so much more to me. It's like a "behind the scenes" type of stuff.
I think CT has two big functional issues: rear mirror/camera and headlights under snow. They need a rear roof mounted camera beamed to the rear view mirror, and fix the headlights so they won't be covered completely in heavy snow.
There is already at least one third-party rear view camera option available. I don't know the brand name but look for the "unprotected left turn Chuck" installation and review video for details.
I have a two motor CT with FSD and love it. I bought it for the off road chops(old mine roads in SW Colorado, not Moab.) and FSD. I suggest looking at increasing rear steer angle limit in Rock Crawl mode only. Would help with switchbacks.
Love the CT. Will definitely get one in the future, but likely going to wait until gen 2 when they hit over 500 mile range. I love to hear that Tesla is actively improving everything on current models (ac volume, pedal feel, steering wheel buttons, etc).
I don’t think they will do a 500 mile range version, unless the battery tech improves a huge amount within a few years. This is because they would need to redesign the truck for the extra space and weight. The range extender coming soon should increase to about 445 miles.
Ya, I hear you. Much appreciation for the early supporters! 💜 I think many of them enjoyed creating exclusive content & getting free products from aftermarket vendors, but obviously not everyone wants to be a content creator 😉
If the rear window rolled down you could use camp mode with everything closed besides the window, put a mattress in the bed, and be comfortable in all temperatures. It’s a truck and most truck drivers don’t have people in the back seat a significant amount of time.
@ it would make it where there would be no need for a rooftop tent. The only reason I purchased a Rivian R1T over a Cybertruck was actually because there’s no storage for the spare tire and I was wasn’t going to take up 3/4 of the bed space. I wonder how many others have been swayed the other direction specifically because of the spare tire situation.
49:52 i do think that using the screen as the rear view mirror does take valuable screen real estate. Wish they could use rear view mirror as a video cam feed so we can always have a view.
Ya, I hear ya. I think making the truck easier to build and lower cost is the priority, especially considering the original pricing of $40k for single motor.
I've had my CT since Feb and have gone under 6 recalls, 3 times towed to shop for inverter, power supply, HVBATT and coolant issues. Being repaired for Coolant and HV BATT issue right now. Great truck when it's running as I drive 100 plus miles a day and yes it's my work truck but damn, it breaks down a lot. Mostly highway driving in CHILL mode and never abused it. Will see how it works for the next 25k miles..............
@@AcceleratingTech uht oh, same truck, same parts year later so early doesn't have anything to do with it, sorry. Just thought I'd put it out there for the world to see what's up. What to expect for any future purchases and was wondering if same goes for all Tesla vehicles? normally a person sells before the warranty is up, wonder why?
@CampingWheelingandStuff It's not the same truck. They did a recall to swap to a completely updated rear motor, voluntary hardware recall for a tighter turn radius, recalled for a different wiper motor, different rear camera wiring, different tires, and that's all I can just list off the top of my head.
I just wish they offered a regular truck as well. Aluminum body, single and crew cab variants. no need for a cover. That would sell like hot cakes. Also a big problem is the headlights, snow can easily build there and it's clear the designers are used to their environment of California and failed to consider small details like that.
I hear you…I think they could do a variant in the future, but if it keeps selling well as is then may be a while. There probably aftermarket products that will come out for some of those snow related issues 😂
Is Tesla considering casting improvements to strengthen the air suspension mounts and ball joint and inner fender clearance to allow for up to 37" tires?
Not sure. Does anyone know? I’m guessing no, since Tesla likes to keep things simple & light. But I’m sure there are aftermarket shops that can upgrade the suspension. @AcceleratingTech yeah, I like the minimalist approach that tesla takes. Which truly sucks, because I car camp a lot. I really wish all that tech was in a large suv form factor. Once production ramps up to full scale, prices will begin to lower and sales will rocket. Don’t forget the used market will have very affordable prices. Cybertruck will become ubiquitous as prices get cheaper, it will be everywhere in a year or two.
@39:14 - ? "Almost every Cybertruck will have a rear occupant..." Obvious BS. A simple majority of all cars don't even have a passenger seat occupant. The rear window should roll down. Full Stop.
@AcceleratingTech because it would have allowed all the cool features that were removed due to space constraints, like seating for 6, more battery space between the axles, and the roll down rear windscreen, which would then have enabled climate control in the bed with camp mode.
@AcceleratingTech @AcceleratingTech The final straw was the fully electric steering. Even 747's have mechanical backups for control surfaces and they're the size of BUILDINGS. If the computer crashes/software glitches/etc, you can lose brakes AND steering. One owner already had it happen driving his family. I had the brake computer on my prius act up and only 1 tire had brakes. You absolutely can do the fancy steering features mechanically and have it electronically assisted. The upper control arms are paper thin and barely contoured. Even model 3's have had tires rip off because of control arm failures. And when they took the Cybertrucks down through the baja 1,000 they took 14 spare control arms for 2 trucks. I stopped the video and counted. I would un-squish the nose, because that's the biggest aesthetic crime. And they did that so a bulletproof stainless steel tank truck with sentry mode can fit in the safety of standard 2 car garage. They made the angled side body line less agressive. Which also decreases rear head room and closed bed space. They also made the bottom of the doors nearly vertical instead of angled in for no apparent reason. They made the battery too small. Monroe showed that there is considerably more room for additional cells. They also gave the cyberbeast less power than a plaid for some reason??? The solar bed cover was completely deleted. I LOVED the prototype So Much! I've had a reservation since day 2. That's why I'm so frustrated with what they've done. "Look how they Massacred my Boy" I REALLY hope they fix the Gen 2 Cybertruck.
When will Tesla provide a proper battery sized for towing ? Thats the biggest fail considering their reveal ages ago with 500/600+ nominal range… the CT was supposed to replace my oil burner tow vehicle … They cant claim towing chops without tow range … the weight specs are fine … the range sucks
Good question. Interesting how no one asked about this, but Tesla is supposed to offer a range extender battery soon, that goes in the bed of the truck. I thought they said by end of this year but seems maybe it’s delayed 🤷♂️
@AcceleratingTech, and that in-the-bed solution is terrible … that would reduce the functionality/ usability of the truck to make it a deal breaker for me

I’m betting you don’t have a CT. You might be better off on the “old guys complaining about life channel” 😂
Go make a better one then.
When will Tesla provide a proper battery sized for towing ? Thats the biggest fail considering their reveal ages ago with 500/600+ nominal range… the CT was supposed to replace my oil burner tow vehicle …
They cant claim towing chops without tow range … the weight specs are fine … the range sucks
Good question. Interesting how no one asked about this, but Tesla is supposed to offer a range extender battery soon, that goes in the bed of the truck. I thought they said by end of this year but seems maybe it’s delayed 🤷♂️
@AcceleratingTech, and that in-the-bed solution is terrible … that would reduce the functionality/ usability of the truck to make it a deal breaker for me
Ya, I hear you. Hopefully a longer range version is developed in the future.
