My 3d printer saved me a ton of money. It's the second go to mount I've printed, for my entry based Canon camera. I've come to enjoy building maybe more than taking sky picture.
I recommend it. My sub 200€ Ender 3 printed me my OnStep powered Go-To Star Tracker and the popular OpenAstroTracker, along with a multitude of adapters for my gear and a custom guiding cam. I have a pretty light load, just a camera and i plan of mounting my Skywatcher 900 on the tracker, but you can also print some mount who can handle way heavier loads. It worth getting into it if you can manage to find a bit a space and a good deal.
Same hear, i do more mod on the cameras, installing coolers, tripod hypertune, making own wires, filling cement into tripod legs, etc, etc, love the hobby LOL, clear skies
I love astro tinkering and sorting out stuff for as near to nuppence as I can even though I do have good kit too, my 3d printer is a great bit of kit and repurposing stuff for astro. Your channel is right up my street. 😁
You've found all the tightwads like me who wince at the prices involved and suddenly find themselves with short arms and deep pockets! More power to your elbow!
@@Cheapass-tro I've always been interested in any diy astro project at the moment I'm playing with a diy barn door tracker and and stepper motor controlled by arduino
@@Cheapass-tro yeah that's what I do I'm no expert but just follow what other people do , the onstep looks really nice but i need the get the arduino and tracker working first before I try something new
Amazing. Thank you for sharing your videos. If you need a dew heater and dew heater controller, DIY style. Give me a buzz. You can make videos on those as well. I have made them and used the dew heaters and controllers and yhey work great.

@@Tony-Elliott Nice! I've used Arduino for my OnStep controller build but I won't pretend to know much. I followed instructions all the way.

You're speaking my language when you say you have spent more time working on your rig than using it!! lol
I think we all had the same cloudy winter!
@@Cheapass-tro Yep! And I'm in the midwest so now there is smoke in the upper atmosphere from canadas forests burning down! Can't win at all!
I hope you succeed!
