Some items are important to the store so they require a team count, us working with one of their employees to ensure it's done right. Last year I got paired up with this little old lady who spotted the Mjolnir pendant I carved out of buffalo horn and went to ask her supervisor if she could be put with someone else as she could not possibly work with a "godless heathen." I can never tell if this place makes me want to laugh or cry.

Eh. At the end of the day, most 'security' is 'security theatre'. Or at best it's to deter the casuals. The locks on your house aren't really designed to keep out determined thieves, they're there to keep out opportunistic deviants who will just check things to see if they can, without really trying too hard... That's about the most you can hope for usually... I mean, the visible security at airports is doing almost nothing too. But it gives people the illusion of safety. (the actual stuff preventing problems is all done behind the scenes and is much more subtle...)

I don't think there's anything new they could say, just link to the 2-hour "From the pit to the penthouse" talk they do at cons. And yes, because of watching that, now I notice when elevators have buttons replaced with the wrong brand. Also I learned not to fuck with elevators. Fun fact: usually, the emergency telephone button calls the front desk. I discovered that by accident, I had my suitcase hanging from my shoulder and it swung forward and booped the phone button when I reached to press the floor button. The clerk cut me off in the middle of my apology with "Yeah, it happens sometimes, don't worry about it."

I think my favorite moment of that con talk was when they were talking about tightening up on security of a building's elevator service contractor... As Dev and Howard rip off their shirts to reveal they were wearing store bought (or homemade) elevator technician's Polo's.
Damn, just checked- my safe doesn't even have it covered, the key hole is just there. Although it is kind of a weird one, it's not one I've ever seen and it's not a cross one either. It looks like ball bearing with a dent on top. Any ideas?
Seems to me like a revolver lock with something in the middle to obstruct the way: LockPickingLawyer showed some locks with such kind of trickery. The dent would be were it is tensioned. But i'm not a lock expert by any mean so take this with a pinch of salt.
Apparently you can get a much bigger explosion out of lighters if you take out the flint, put it in the spring (like the spring is the handle) heat up the flint, and throw it on the ground.
The best hotel defense is keeping your valuables in your dirty laundry bag. You'll thank me and probably curse me later, also I'm not a lawyer. Also: I like that Brushwood was chopping brush... wood at the end. (there's probably a more clever way to say that but it's Xmas.)
You don't even need access to the key hole to open most up. They come from the factory with a default override code of either strait ones or 1-6. You enter the override code mode by hitting ##. Most hotels never change the code.
Thee secret override will change depending on who made safe. Some safes wont have a keyway and you have to drill it out when the electronics fail. Sometimes there will be a master code that will unlock the safe, sometimes there will be a dongle that plugs into a hidden adapter to be used as an override.
You don't have to imagine, just pay them to do it so they can tell you how to make it more difficult to walk in like they own the place because your doors are installed badly.
