I got mine for $50 and threw one of these bad boys in with a Dlink wifi adapter and Bluetooth dongle. I've never been so happy with how much I spent for the power this thing cranks out. Mine came with an i5 3470 and 8GB memory 1TB HD so next, I will buy an SSD for it . You really don't need to spend Thousands on Big rigs with flashy lights.

Anyone that might do this. Usually these used machines come with a Windows 7 COA sticker on top of the PC. You can use that product key to install and activate Windows 10.

Can anyone here tell me that if I upgrade the CPU to an i7 3770 the 240w psu will still be able to handle it?
The power supply should handle it, because mine came with a i7 3770 preinstalled and still has the same 240 watt power supply from HP. The 8300 SFF line from HP only came with 240 watt power supplies as far as I know. So that means if you have a model with an i3 or i5 you can absolutely upgrade to an i7 3770.

I bought the microtower version of this PC for $60. Threw a Gigabyte 1050 TI in there and she's a beast. Mine came with the i5 3570, 320 watt PSU, 16 gigs of ram, a 1 TB HDD, and a Windows 10 Pro key. I was going for a really budget build so I bought just about everything used. I have just under $400 into it all. That includes a used Razer keyboard, dual monitor set up, and a SSD for the boot drive.

The hp compaq is a very decent computer it’s great for upgrading I play rocket league on it without the graphics card and it gave around 45 to 56 FPS on almost med settings
you can just add they new Rx 6400 and play Cyberpunk 2077 on 1080p 60 fps with low settings and it only consumes like 20 watts

The 1050 ti kills Fortnite @1080p and you should get the 4GB VRAM version (ti) for the best bang if you can afford it. I have this exact setup as a little side computer that has been going since the beginning of 2017.

Yes brother, we need to change ONLY POWER SUPPLY THING UPTO 450W TO 500W FOR 100000% SURE. BUT I DONT KNOW WHICH SMPS/PSU FIX IN SFF. I ALSO DO HAVE 8300 SFF ELITE BY HP.
Trust me don't try to play game with that PSU/SMPS if you dont want unwanted blast or fire. Trust me, we both just need power supply which will work.

Hello! in your opinion, what do you think is the best computer? Dell optilex 7010 sff our hp compaq 8300 sff? the two computers with the same settings, i7 3770 and gtx 1050 ti
They are both very similar, but the HP compaq supports up to 32 GB of ram, so if you need over 16 gigs of ram, I would go with the HP, but 8-16 gigs are just fine for gaming and if I was you, I would choose the cheaper one. If they have the same price, take the one with the case design you like more.

Yo dude I got the same pc but only got the 240 PSU to does it run an run okay with that GPU because I've herd u can't use it because it uses to many watt I think it will be okay but want to be sure before I buy ✌️

Have you noticed any issues in the four years since you've put this together? I'm about to put a low-profile 1050 ti inside of an 8300 SFF, but just read that the 16x PCI-E slot in the SFF revision has a maximum rated TDP of 35 watts which will likely struggle to feed a 70 watt gpu.

bill I don't know much about the HP 8200 cmt, but I saw some videos, where it worked just fine. I think you can also upgrade the bios but that wasn't necessary in my case, everything worked right out of the box. The powersupply should be no concern, Nvidia recommends a 300 Watt psu, mine has only 240 Watts and it works perfectly fine.

I'm not sure if you are talking about the video ram of the graphics card, in this case the GTX 1050 TI, which I have has 4 GB of VRAM or if you mean the RAM of the PC itself? If you mean the RAM of the PC, I used 8 GB while filming this video and later upgraded to 16 GB. I think 4 GB is the absolute minimum in 2020 for not so demanding games. More demanding games such as warzone or Battlefield V need at least 8GB.

I have exactly the same PC as you but, according the specs, the PCIe slot allows 35W max and this GTX 1050 TI LP requires 75W, that's why I am a bit confused. Did you ever had issues or it is working fine?

im trying to do this same thing but im having trouble fitting it in there. i switched to the low bracket but when i try to plug it in, it won't properly align and it leans to the right. i can't push it in anymore to the left, so I'm at a loss for what to do. is there anything i could do to make it align? thanks!
Take the card out, make sure to use the black pci-express slot and then align it. Do not bend the card but you maybe have to use a little bit force to push it down...

Yes my MSI GeForce GTX 1050 TI low profile came with one in the box. The ones from GIGABYTE, ZOTAC and ASUS also come with a low profile bracket.

Minecraft should work fine without a graphics card, but if you want to add any shaders, I'd definitely get a GPU.

Power supply wiring and design are proprietary so cant be replaced

For the matter of heating, just jump into BIOS setup and set the "iddle fans speed" to 50/75%. You"ll realise the 2 pwm fans way faster along side lowering down all Temps.

you used the stocked psu? people say when they install the gtx 1050 and the gtx 1050ti it burns out the psu and wont start up but its like what else do you have hooked up to your system also are you still using this same system with same specs
I upgraded mine slightly but I still use the same 240 watts PSU.

No, the motherboard of the HP Compaq 8300 SFF has a pci-express x16 version 3 slot, which is rated for 75 watts. So it doesn't affect anything and the 1050 TI can perform to it's maximum.

How much watts does the 1050 really use and did it require 6 pin? Is there a big difference in gaming between using the 1050 and 750 ti with these specs? Are you able to play all games?
The GTX 1050 uses 75 watts (max) and it doesn't require a six pin connector and the GTX 1050 is about 25% faster than the GTX 750 TI. You are able to play games with both of them, you would have to reduce some settings however. I would opt for the GTX 1050 if the price difference in your country is 25% or less.
If you are using the full size msi gtx 1050 Ti gaiming x card it requires a 6 pin gpu power connector and the one in the video only draws power from the pci x16 slot

Yes, the Witcher 3 should run fine (I don't have the game, so I cannot test it) but you should get around 50 fps @1080P with medium settings.
Did you over clock?
1.5Life No I didn't overclock and I can't recommend it because the powersupply is only 240 Watts, but you can try overclocking the GPU. You can't overclock the CPU.
1.5Life ~ my specs : HP 8200 sff with i5-2400 - 16gb - 1050 ti low profile : I OverClock core : 173 & memory : 427 since 4/27/2017 with zero issues using Msi afterburner ( NO VOLTAGE !! ) extra 5 FPS and brings up the Mins - and I’m still using my stock HP 240 Psu
I have videos with Overclock active while playing Games , any Gtx 1050 ti with speeds above 1778 MHz = most likely is Overclocked even if the You tuber who Posting doesn’t mention in description

Hey I have a Hp 8100 Sff like your's. I already Have a 1050 2gb Lp gtx GPU inside it, but i still have a I5-650. I believe this CPU is bottleneck the CPU and would love to upgrade the CPU to a I7-860. Your CPU has better specs however the price is higher and the motherboard's socket is 1156. Should i go with the I7-860, or try yours. Which one give me more of a bang for my buck? Thx!!!

It should work, however it's not the same one used in the video, but I don't see why it shouldn't work. I just haven't had personal experience with this card, so if you don't want to risk too much, just buy one from amazon and if it doesn't work properly, just send it back and buy a MSI GTX 1050/1050 TI LP. I hope I could help you, and if you buy the Gigabyte version, could you maybe give a short feedback (if it works or not)

i have the same hp 8300 with i7 3770 and a gigabyte gtx 1050 ti low profile, the msi version is very cool, gigabyte on full load is reaching 74 degrees.

Just out of interest. The z220 has the same motherboard is the pci x16 lane you plugged the card in the full lane or a less pinned lane? As the extra pins are for bandwidth of the card and the cooler stops the top one from being used
I'm not exactly sure what you mean because my technical knowledge is very limited but it's a pci-express 2.0 x16 slot with a maximum power output of 75 watts.

SlyferCrafter the 2 pcie lanes typically one has a full run of pins to the motherboard one tends to only have a few. I had to help someone build one of these small form pcs over webcam and it was the z220 which is an insane beast for one of these as it can go right up to 32gb of ecc ram i7 etc. But no matter what we did we couldn't get the 1050ti in the lane at the top. So I was just wondering if the below lane which you also used had the full set of pins along the lane

I've done a bit research on my computer and found out that the black pci-express
has the full set of pins and on the white one the discription from the manual says "PCI Express x16 downshifted
to a x4" but I don't know if that helps...
SlyferCrafter massive help it basically means the card isn't performing at full speed. The main port has all 16 pins they are used for bandwidth. Where as the x4 slot will work just the card doesn't have the full set of bandwidth pins. You actually been a huge help.

My processor's coolong unit comes in the way of the graphic card. The pc in the video has its processor in a corner

Yes it has to be low profile for the small form factor version (the one in this video) but if you have the midi tower version, you don't need to buy the low profile version.
SlyferCrafter is the metal attachment part smaller on low profile because I could make the case bigger and weld a but bigger area for it
When you buy the MSI GTX 1050 TI low profile version (the one I have)
you get a normal height metal bracket and a low profile metal bracket and you can swap them out if you like. If you have a similar PC as mine, you don't need to make the case bigger/weld anything.

Would this work with a 120gb boot SSD and a seperate 1tb Hard drive? Im worried about the total wattage. Currently running a Gigabyte 1050ti lp 4gb and the i5 3470 with 8gb ram (2x4). only using the ssd for the moment.
Yes it should work just fine, mine runs with a Samsung EVO 850 SSD (boot-drive) and the preinstalled 500 GB WD Harddrive and there are no problems with the wattage. Sometimes I even have one or two external harddrives connected via USB.
@@SlyferCrafter Just got an 8300 sff so gona start on it today. I'm using an Evo 250Gb SSD and a 1Tb sata for other storage. What RAM should I install on the motherbord 8 - 12 - 16Gb ? Does it matter will the card do all the gaming work? thx in advance .....

Look at the FPS Jesus a gaming pc can do the same nothing more this is better than gaming pc because it’s cheap :) I mean the gtx is not cheap but at least you get it for 300$
Dose the graphics card come with the small bracket or did you get is separately
