    Well the session started out rough but not even a frozen motor, frozen battery, or a frozen pilot could stop the Durably Excalibur V2.
    Once I corrected the down elevator issue and knocked out all the snow and ice from motor it was smooth flying.
    With an all new more efficient prop & spinner setup, better metal gear servos, stronger fuselage and a new colour scheme the Durably Excalibur V2 ticks all the right boxes.
    The Durably Excalibur V2 has an outstanding flight envelope. Fast or slow it is gracefully, aerobatic and well mannered.
    I'd forgotten how much I adore flying this plane.
    Look for more videos when the weather gets better.

    What a risky guy, no ESC syncro, almost no elevator, but we cannot resist to fly! It seems to be possible to program some not big flaperons to slow things down.

    •  2 года назад +1

      Yes you can do flaperons if you remove the Y connector setup for the ailerons.

  • @technoxtreme178
    @technoxtreme178 2 года назад +2

    A few hints from a sailplane thermal duration pilot: use your radio to program the radio to turn the ailerons into flaperons so you can bleed off some speed in landing approaches. Once the snow melts, you'll want slower landings for sure. I had version one and it made big difference.

    •  2 года назад +1

      I've considered that for sure.

      How much degrees do you whant to set up the flaperons at ?

    • @technoxtreme178
      @technoxtreme178 Год назад

      @@FoxMulder_ minimum 45 degrees down and as much as 75 or more. It's usually limited by you r linkage or servo travel. You will also need considerable elevator down compensation mixed in to avoid porpoising.

    Seeing you play in the snow makes me sad I won't be seeing you this year - again :-s -
    I love the woosh sound when it glides by. Nice plane!

      Yeah and I'm not even 100% certain I'll be in the US this year ether.

      Very easy plane to launch. Thanks for watching.

    Is that faster than the crescendo evolution.
    What is actual speed did you put in GPS in it 🤔🤔🤔

      Best I've done with the V1 was 99.

    Is your excalibur still working? My motor burnt up after 2 batteries and Hobbyking will not warranty anything. Denied claims. Thanks

    Hi, I just maiden mine today, and with cg set as per manual, my Excalibur pulls nose up hard. Even with “nose down trim” maxed out, my plane was still pulling nose up. Did you had to setup your elevator mechanically any different from what the manual says?

    •  2 года назад

      So here is what I've done.
      Reset my radio trims to centre.
      I then moved the servo horns a spline or 2 introducing some down elevator.
      Opposite to what I did in the build video.
      I plan on doing an update video soon as I can.
      And once the weather is nice I can do another more in-depth flight video.
      Hope that helps.

    Is there room enough for a small Flight Controller?

    •  2 года назад

      I suspect you could a combo rx/stabilize in there but might be hard to ensure it sits level/correct orientation.

    • @BryonGaskin
      @BryonGaskin 2 года назад +1

      @ Something with INAV would really be an issue with level / orientation, that can be corrected via the software. You can place the flight controller at a 45 degree angle, upside down and pointing backwards and adjust the orientation by using the align_board_pitch and roll settings. But if you can't squeeze and FC in there in the 1st place it doesn't matter.

    •  2 года назад

      @@BryonGaskin Next time I have the plane on the bench I'll see if anything would fit. I just suspect the fuse tappers down very aggressively so it may be a big challenge. But anything is possible with a little modifying.

    Too cold for the battery.
    They like it about 90°

      The Graphine ones seem to struggle the most in the cold.

      I'd say they put some good effort into making the fuse stronger it does not flex as much but so happy to fly this plane again.
      It checks off so many boxes.

      @ excellent!!!! It's sounds like my ol night flyer radian I had to run carbon rods down the fuselage to stop it twisting one thing I love about the excalibur is the whhhhooooooosh as it goes by on a dead stick.....

      Stay warm and remember a completely drained battery makes a GREAT HAND WARMER hahahahaaha

      Better spinner too. I have v1 and put a new spinner on before I flew it. Great plane, great fun! Hardest part is getting it to land. I programmed spoilers on mine and keep the prop spinning on low throttle to help it slow down.

      @@jeffdillingham2999 I think it's the power gliders down fall THEY JUST DONT WANT TO LAND. HAHHAHAHAHA THERE BRILLIANT

      Yeah it's up there with the EFX Racer with glide ratio to land but so much nicer to launch.
