This song hits me the same way Arcade did. When I first heard both songs, I sat in my car and sobbed. Both songs hark to life experiences you only encounter with age. I genuinely feel that, if they don't change anything, we will more than likely be heading back to Sweden next year.

It's definitely my favourite song ... i don't care if she doesn't win, it's already such a great achievement for her to represent her country after this difficult career beginning in Idol 2008 (she was rejected by the judges with no respect) and i'm sure she will have a high placement. This woman is a gem

@@montrealkino she overdid during the audition so obviously they can refuse that she continues but with respect. They were literally laughing and saying she doesn't have that much potential, which is not true. Even the performance was not great, she already had the passion and the singing was not that bad. Just more control and it would be good enough

Im speechless, im like Alesia at the end of her reaction, i swear to god. This is my 2nd favourite song. Seeing this 3rd in the betting odds(even tho odds right now dont mean a thing right now) makes me very happy. I have watched 3 videos of other people's top favourite songs and in those 3 videos they ALL places Sweden 1st. Im just loving life right now. ESC is just arround the corner. All of my favourites are doing really well in the oods, so its nice to see other people really like the same songs that i do. All i want is NOT to get my heart broken like last year, when France didnt win with the best ever ESC song of all time.

🇸🇪Hold Me Closer and 🇲🇪Breathe are 2 songs that touched my soul and caused an avalanche of emotions. Literally these are the songs that are “so nice” to cry with. Finally that after the 2014 " "Undo" perfection that Sweden sends a song with emotion and an honest story. Indeed Cornelia has managed to convey many feelings through her song with her voice and I really appreciate that. This is literally an anthem for all of us and whatever the result in May thank you so much Cornelia for this song.

The only thing I would change is the red in the last chorus, I would prefer an orange/ yellow or simply going back to green. I didn't see her as a winner of Melfest, untill I heard the song on RUclips after the final.
It could be either my TV settings or SVT1's broadcast. It sounded really dull when I watched it live.
On RUclips the sound quality was much more balanced.
I think what really makes this stand out, is how effortless it feels.
The song sounds like it already was written in the past, years ago, and we're reliving old memories.
It has this distinct familiarity, yet is a completely new song from a new artist.
That's most likely why you don't find any flaws. It's like this performance was written for Cornelia. It was, but like it's like it was customized for the singer, not just a vocal added to the song.
It's like the vocal was written first, then the music was formed as she sung it. It's not a normal way to write songs.
Often producers create something and give to singers. But it seems the story is in the main focus. Which makes it so breathtaking.
    I wouldn't mind Stockholm 2023, best regards a Norwegian Viking 🇧🇻

A little "fun" fact about her:
    1. She bough the green ring on her left hand when she was 6 years old.
    2. She song is about a breakup and that's why the song is so raw and emotional.
    3. About the circle. She has a diagnosis called "Synesthesia" that does that she sees colours when she sings and talkes. So if she for example says "Alex" and sees green. So when se wroted this song the saw green, yellow, orange and red the colours of the circle if mostly green, and then a little yellow, orange and then green. Depends on which word she sings.

It was the only thing I listened to the next 24 hours after that. After that, I vowed that if Cornelia wins Sweden would immediately be my favourite song this year.
This comes from a long Swedish pop music tradition - Roxette, The Cardigans, Robyn, Tove Lo.... It's as (authentically) Swedish as "Spaceman" is British, and I love it for that.

As Alesia said from the start, it's Sweden's cultural reset. And it bothers me SO MUCH to read (even from a minority) hate comments about Cornelia just because it's Sweden. C'mon yall, this entry has everything we've been asking from Sweden in years. I was ready to cancel everything Swedish if they sent another male plastic bop or poptrack instead of Cornelia, i'm not gonna lie. But she is the exact opposite. She has soul, she is authentic, charming, alternative, indie, great performer and vocalist, and my god she sings the hell out of her every time. I really believe that if people listened to this song without knowing it's from Sweden, they would instantly love it.
Hope they adjust the performance properly in Turin's stage and she wins Eurovision.

I have noticed one thing for sure about "the negative comments" out there. A lot of them are writing inconsistencies about the song that don't make sense, which makes me think that a lot of people commenting, have not actually listened to the whole song from start to finish at all.
I am going to be honest.. At first when I heard this song.. I felt nothing in particular. I mean.. It is an ok song.. Sweet.. A bit on the boring side.. I also thought there were way more interesting songs in the final Sweden could have chosen.. But.. As it won I figured I would invest a few minutes extra into trying to connect with the lyrics. And that is when the brick hit me in the stomach and I found myself crying.
People who comment about their opinions.. This song is this and that.. Sometimes you can tell the person has no idea what they are talking about.
I used to be a long time blogger and commentator on ESC's own website. But being Swedish.. I was oftened ignored, looked down upon or treated like air by others. For being Swedish.

I appreciate and experience that the criticism you have had before is for development to take place even if it has been tough and a little annoying at times😀. When I was younger, I liked music with energy and dance-friendly music and the lyrics meant less. Now the lyrics and the story together with the music mean a lot more to me. When it is then performed by an artist who feel the lyrics and has a unique voice, the song becomes very strong emotionally. Not everyone recognizes themselves in the story or likes the music. It was the same with ABBA who got shit for there music and story telling. But enough people liked their music in the end.

One thing I love about this song is that it is just a good song. I think a fair number of Eurovision songs are good but that I have to be in a Eurovision sorta mood to listen to them if that makes sense. Some songs don't do that. I think Arcade is the best example of that. This definitely fits that description.
I also love the arc of Cornelia Jakobs as an artist. She was rejected from Swedish Idol at the age of 16, like didn't get past the auditions. apparently when she auditioned the judges weren't constructive or helpful in anyway. On of the judges that rejected her was Anders Bagge who got second at Melodifestivalen to Jakobs this year. I think from a narrative stand point, that's compelling.

To me this is, in it’s core, a classic schlager masked as a pop song. :) But don’t get me wrong…I love it! You can hear passion in her voice and pain also… I love how raw her performance is. Good job Sweden!

Thanks for another reaction video that makes me go into it deeper. Love this song and I also have to stop at some times to calm down my feelings. It gets to close to my own experiencies, have to calm down. But most of all I love the song and it makes me cry and at the same time gives me a good feeling. Strange and awesome :)

    You nailed it!
I’ve ben wissling to this song pretty much all day at work. This is certainly the best song Sweden has sent since 2012. I hope the politics wont affect the outcome at the Eurovision since the fellow euro neighbours has a tendence to vote in ways that often feels like they are trying to level the reults. Neighbouring countries votes for the country just next to them etc. Or if its just a regular hearing problem that occurs every now and then😜. Vive la Sued

This song cuts so deep almost arcade vibes with the lyrics. Her voice just gives me chills like I get why people don't like this but if y'all think this isn't in contention to win I honestly question your taste because song alone this is a winner. But they can't copy and paste the staging while it was great they need to do something more because Corneila had strong ballads up against her which im sure are gonna stage great

I honestly don't have much critique for this, because I am simply all in. Cornelia is one of my favourite artists, her entire discography is my cup of tea, I love her voice, her personality and her whole artistry. She has a creative vision on all aspects of her work: music, obviously, but also styling, visuals in general (just by checking her IG and music videos, you can see how much she's accomplished while being pretty much herself and a close team). I can't even explain how this song is so heart wrenching and attention grabbing. I have not been through such a breakup. But I tend to feel emotions very deeply when they're well conveyed. That is totally the case here, and the intimate staging definitely helps, you're immediately paying attention to her, which, in return, forces you to really listen to the song. Well, if you don't like it after these three minutes, fine. But I feel like it'd be hard to forget. However, I must say that the first performance on the night of the finals got me nervous. She was definitely more nervous than during the deltävling. I wasn't sure whether it'd have an impact on the final result.
Other than that, I'm hoping they get everything under control for Turin. And I'm so excited to follow her journey there!
As usual, a great video coming from you!

I'm abit biased due to being swedish, but i really love the way she can express the song. i share your concern about the big-stage "logistics" but I'm convinced it's in the top5. Another competition to Cornelia is UK, i REALLY love the UK contribution this year.

„People like it only because it's Sweden” 🙄 But could Montenegro or North Macedonia ever come with such a song? I don't think so. Just as you can't expect Sweden to send a Balcanic ballad or a yas queen diva.

They could've because people buy swedish music so often and this year they could be send something that sounded balkan-Medina's song that finished third)

@@user-gs3yf7dv8r Yes, but they could change the songs a lot with their voices or singing style or they could add elements from their cultures.
Medina's song.... I don't know. That didn't sound Balcan to me.

So as of a few weeks ago I was saying to myself, “You know there are songs I like a lot this year but I haven’t had that moment I had last year with Shum where I heard a song for the first time and, even before it was in the conversation of being a Eurovision song, INSTANTLY it was like oh I love this this song is my boy it’s my darling, they have to revamp this and send this to Eurovision.”
I had a few songs in NFs so far that were my boys in this kind of way that sadly didn’t make it through, as happens, it’s fine, it hasn’t soured my opinion on things at all, but as it so happens I’ve kind of been sitting out of NF season for a bit after following Aus Decides and only just tuned back into Eurovision post-Mel Fest and now that I have all these new songs to catch up on it feels like I’m finally hitting that point in Eurovision where it’s like, oh, this song is my boy. This is my darling.
Hold Me Closer is one of them

  • @lucypagano2454

OK hear me out, I do not really get the song and it does not make me emotional or have chills in any way BUT I can see why so many ppl like it and why it could potentially win. The only issue I have with this is that it's not very original, it gives me a sense of an outdated 80's/90s rock ballad that I already heard thousands of times. This year I really just want an ORIGINAL song that doesn't sound like the typical pop songs/ballads to win (examples : France, Albania,Serbia,Netherlands etc) they all sound kinda original to me.

I LOVE THIS SONG, MAYBE IT IS OVER-HYPED, I REMEMBER Gjon's Tears last year and did not win, I did not listen Måneskin 'cause I personally don't like heavy metal music and they won, so, let's see how CORNELIA ends ESC. MY FAVOURITE IS CHANEL, AND SLOMO... Good luck every artists. ❤️❤️
