You'd have to ensure villager #1 has a role until villager #2 (who has no role) reaches their role, which means there can't really be more than 1 villager in motion at a time right? At least not in a 32 block radius, which would somehow make a custom city feel less alive than a normal Minecraft village

Speaking of the new Villager's AI, a few months ago I was in a fairly new survival world and I came across a village with a ravine cutting across one end. There was this adorable baby villager who had fallen into the ravine, and I felt bad for the lil' guy and went down in to help him out. I didn't exactly expect anything to come of it, since I didn't have any way to steer him up, and there was a cave connected to the ravine from which I could hear some growling. So I get down in there and come up to the baby villager, he's pacing around, and then he turns and looks up at me. I'm just trying to get a way out at this point and I dig up some dirt along the side and move it out of my way, then use it to make a *very* shoddy staircase. (It wasn't even in a straight line) To my extreme surprise, the villager kiddo actually followed me up the staircase and waited for me to make the next part, which took a moment as I needed to get more dirt, and then followed me all the way to the top back into his village. I was pretty impressed and pleased, in my experience villagers aren't usually the most cooperative in helping you help them. Not sure if it was just a MASSIVE coincidence, but it really didn't look like it at the time.

LIGHTBULB! 💡 💡 💡 for the drawbridge, what you could do is turn the villager forever invisible with the particles off, you wouldn't really be able to do this without cheats (unless your willing to constantly splash the villager) so you would do /effect @e invisibility 1000000 225 true this would be for bedrock, also make sure there are no other mobs or they will go invisible too
