Hot wire cutter tip: when slicing multiple layers under a template, keep it all together with 3M clear packing tape. The wire goes through it like a knife through yogurt.

Ive been unable to buy more than one costume for halloween, so ive been making and remaking the same costume for the past 5 years, this is a channel that I deeply identify with just because of episodes like this.
I'm not into Star Wars or cosplay whatsoever, but I love watching these videos to see Adam's genius in action and learn some things I can apply to other builds

I've used a Proxxon hot wire cutter for a few years now for scale modeling and dioramas and nothing beats it. Get a foot switch so you can control the off/on with your foot and it's amazing.
I see that too. I've been thinking that a hand-shaped one would be useful since every tool in the shop is a handheld one so a hand shape is the right form factor for it. The only issue is how to build it (maybe with wood and armature wire?)

This is how I’ve been making my Wookiee feet for the past 10 years. I met Adam once at Celebration in Chewie, I had no idea it was him till later when a couple of Legion friends pointed him out to me. The Wookiee aka Adam was being rushed off and I was being a costume nerd trying to compliment and ask build questions. Missed opportunity to talk shop. Though whenever I am Chewie at Dragon Con or Celebration, I get asked if I’m Adam. You should know over time the foam will compact so you have to replace it. Thanks for making this, it’s very helpful for future Wookiee builders and cosplayers.

What I love about watching Adam is the little tricks that I never think of that are just an unconscious movement for him. Tells you just how well tuned he is to his setup and the decades of experience

I think I like these videos almost more than the ones shot with Tested's professional equipment. They show a more personable side to Adam than we used to see. Maybe he could do with a better microphone but that'd be even more hassle anytime he wants to move the camera around so this is just great as is!

Loved this - I cannot believe I watched it all, but it kept me working on a painting for nearly 2 hours and that is a win for sure! Seeing the bandaid - I didn't notice it till about 45 minutes in, but it makes me wonder if that was why the Xacto warning happened, because there were moments when you were removing the toes where I was thinking, "Adam, be careful there!" The lack of fancy dust collection systems is refreshingly down to earth - you clean when you clean, all is good. I must be watching too many woodworkers with fancy shop gear. The cave is way better. I'd be afraid of the hip wrenching total fail at that height, every time you hopped I cringed, that's what happens after 50 I swear! Demerit badges...We use "Safety Last!" around here a lot because we have evrything we need to be safer, but too often remember it after the fact.
You know Adam, they do make dust extraction shrouds for angle grinders, would definitely make cleanup a lot easier on jobs like that, and they're not very expensive!! 🤘

I've never had that much luck with hot glue with shoe-related things, but there is one product that is SUPER tenacious, "Shoe GOO". I don't know how they do it, but it's strong stuff in this scenario. Also has a little longer working time than hot glue so you can really spread it everywhere. After a full cure, the glue won't be the failure point.

Stick to it and life will begin to change for the better. Avoid swimming up stream. If life is a struggle then you're on the wrong path. Happiness comes with the flow, not the struggle.

When I saw the pink foam came out I knew what the new tool was. Nothing cooler than the hot wire. It's like a table saw combined with a bandsaw in all the best ways. Combined with a slingshot wand, you can do pretty much anything with foam.
im 6'7" tall and wear a size 16 EEEE shoe. i could just put on a part of boots with the toes on them and the fur and poof wookie. i've been referred to as part wookie all my life lol. man that looked like fun to build and i agree any thing you can do to make it more fun and easy to cosplay is a venture worth taking. i want to go to a con my health and of course the global issue prevent that but damn we need to figure something out. if ever there was a need for VR now is that time, but then that kinda makes the point of making your own costume pointless...ugh. love how they look like lived in feet thats so cool. any excuse to put on the chewy costume i would totally do the same. never put your contacts in After you do the eye makeup lol. When faced with a choice move towards the one that brings you the most joy and ignore your fears.

All the while maintaining the parameters of reality. You cant decide to have eggs for breakfast if you have no eggs, but there is always a choice. Make the choice that brings the most happiness in that moment.
Stick to it and life will begin to change for the better.
Avoid swimming up stream. If life is a struggle then you're on the wrong path.
Happiness comes with the flow, not the struggle.

quite recently started working as a carpenter and still learning a bunch, and boy do i see these videos in a diffrent light now.
I like how using the glue gun feels like loading The Samaritan with nuclear fuel rods.
When I saw the pink foam came out I knew what the new tool was. Nothing cooler than the hot wire. It's like a table saw combined with a bandsaw in all the best ways. Combined with a slingshot wand, you can do pretty much anything with foam.
im 6'7" tall and wear a size 16 EEEE shoe. i could just put on a part of boots with the toes on them and the fur and poof wookie. i've been referred to as part wookie all my life lol. man that looked like fun to build and i agree any thing you can do to make it more fun and easy to cosplay is a venture worth taking. i want to go to a con my health and of course the global issue prevent that but damn we need to figure something out. if ever there was a need for VR now is that time, but then that kinda makes the point of making your own costume pointless...ugh. love how they look like lived in feet thats so cool. any excuse to put on the chewy costume i would totally do the same. never put your contacts in After you do the eye makeup lol. Is it hard to find bootsies that big out in the wild? I wear 14w and it's almost impossible without ordering them special.
yep you can get them at shoe stores but they are 600-700 easy for Nikes and Reeboks. online the cheap ones are about $100.
I'm about to spend the best part of two hours watching someone make slightly better Wookie feet, and I will enjoy every moment.

Carving would be fun but he could still rough up the bottom and glue on a toe bean casting done in hard silicone
I love this as a collection of processes, but for pure efficiency I can't help feeling the first hour & fifteen were spent getting to the same stage as a pair of off-the-shelf New Rocks or Transmuters or something 😉
