Kenny G couldn't touch that clarinet solo! Margen finessed that solo to heaven. Always amazed me how Carlos could always get the best musicians available. Guys that weren't household names yet they fit like gloves.
There are good and bad memories in my mind This melody takes me back to when times were good This is medicine this is Bless you for posting this masterpiece 🙏
@@catelewis7223 I find it hard to compare the various musicians that played in Santana because one has to be one of the best musicians in the world to even make it into the band. And dig how each incarnation tries its best to sound like the original band.
@@moses3013 yes, they are all different grains of wonderful. I love how so many of them have played with Carlos for decades. I just saw them in Vegas with a badly broken arm it brought a smile to my face. House of Blues is such a great venue. Very intimate, friendly and close up no matter where you stand or sit.
It’s truly amazing the level of musicianship and the talent that the Santana band has incorporated over the decades. Carlos must be given the credit for that. To have such insight as to what musically is out there that can mesh together to create a project like the Swing of Delight or any other of the bands recordings is a credit to Carlos vision as well as the longevity and excellence the Santana Band has consistently maintained in light of the change in personnel.
Bravo! Rico -great work finding this rare footage. Fabulous Solos by Carlos, PREMIK Russell Tubbs & of course the rest of the band. A Blessed time in Musical history!

{Premik} Russell Tubbs...He is one of the greatest saxophone players ever!!! (Listen to Jharna Kala on Swing of Delight for more of this period- a great solo!) Such a wondrous time in music... (Ramses1401 - Premik is playing soprano sax here...although he does play flute as well on the album)
These cats can play Jazz rock fusion funk you name it. If I’m not mistaken Herbie Hancock was part of this project along with Tony Williams and Wayne Shorter Jazz elites
Eric Bonillo I've been watching your videos for the past two three months Rico you are a very gifted guitar player sometimes it's hard to distinguish which ones Carlos and which ones you thank you for sharing

David Margen (the bass player here) taught me about 70% of what needed to know, at age 15, to become a bass player. Still at it 35 years later.
Saw this band in Germany 1978. This was the best.
Absolutely Beautiful. What a fabulous time in Carlos' great career.
never ever get tired of playing Swing of Delight.....#beautifulanduplifting

This is incredible! I don't know of any other footage of the Devadip Orchestra!
I don't care what any one says..........David margen was the best ever bassist in Santana........sublime and brilliant..
Oh he is so good. First time hearing this. Benny Rietveld is great too.
Carlos knew that too, that's why he was there the longest. Graham Lear was the best drummer too even though Mike Shreive was a 10, Graham was an 11 !

You don't have jazz taste. Carlos and band play wonderfully here.
The entire album where this tune appears on is awesome.
Please give it a listen.
