    Thank you for the video. And a side note: it is a joy to see a car well kept like this. The reflection of chessboard floor tiles in the door is just yummie.

      The paint finish is amazing. You could never tell the entire front of the car to the windscreen has Paint Protection Film (PPF). Thanks for watching!

    Ok .. Great video as usual.. thanks for taking your time and doing such a good detailed videos.. I thought I would tell you that I believe that it is not necessary to have the clip moved or unseated before installation of the new shock. to take off the shock yes, it needs to be unseated to allow the removal, but the new shock goes right on . The ball itself moves the clip out of the way and then the clip comes right back down on the ball. try it out with a hood shock and see the magic..that the ball does with the clip in its natural position. I recently found this out after years of replacing shocks and doing it like everyone thinks. Once again you have saved me so much money watching your video channel. Thank you. Paul.

    Thank you Steve for a very informative video. I have completed the change of my struts and now my doors are holding position perfectly. One comment- there’s no need to use a screwdriver on either end when replacing the new strut as they just clip straight on, as you showed on your nearest end. Peter

    A few months ago I really needed this video, but I already could replace them with new ones. Anyway thanks for the great video. You are a good mechanic.

    nice how they open and stay seemless, instead of the regular 1-2 built in stops most car doors have

      Very true - I hadn't thought about it that way. It's a continuous counter force so you can leave it nearly anywhere. Thanks for sharing!

    Excellent high quality video. What a beautiful car! I would say that your tools list was a little light. Additional tools required: car lift, torque wrench and another human being dead or alive but if dead must be in the rigor mortis stage to keep door open.

      @@Aston1936 As a early subscriber of yours, This channel and the blog are becoming such an amazing catalogue of technical information on DB9 that is unique on RUclips (or web) for our DB9s, to be honest this quality and consistency is rare for any type of car. It would take me for ever to gather the courage to pry out the hard side of the strut that deep in the wheel arch on my own! I want to thank you for the amazing amount of time and effort you put into the hobby and sharing it with everyone. By the way, The videography is getting better and better each episode too.

    Informative and enjoyable as always 👍 Did you install the new one that was weak or did you send it back and get a replacement?

    • @Aston1936
      @Aston1936  3 года назад +1

      I ordered an additional strut and just set the weak one aside. Delayed the project a week, but I didn't want to put something questionable on the car since it takes some effort to install them. Thanks for watching!

    How long is the process with taking out the fender liner to final installation?

    I notice your collection of spare rear wheel rims , do you have a place that supplies these, I have a 2009 and 1 rim has good chunk out of it from a piece of concrete that fell off a truck while driving.
    Btw good video my drivers door is showing signs of creep now.

      I'd suggest you join the 'Aston Martin Car Parts' Facebook Group and just ask the group if anyone has one to sell privately. If you aren't on Facebook, you can also safely source a good preowned one from AstonMartinBits.com. Thanks for watching!
