I personally love this song. I get it when others don’t, but when it plays on my playlist it’s just unskippable for me! Studio version is amazing, live is great too
I must admit, I do prefer the studio version of this song. I agree with the review, it's a good song...many other bands would be stoked to write this. It's not near their top echelon of songs however. This was off their debut album, and by no means a skip song, it's just they have much better material.
I love this song and this particular performance. It's a song I was excited to add to my driving playlist. As always, I appreciate David's insights and music wisdom.
Hey bro, I'm one of the biggest AB fans there (saw them 4 times and met them twice) and The End is Near was one of my favorites when it first was released with their album. Having said that, I appreciate your breakdown and straight keen ear on the song and opinion. I love watching reaction videos to songs and groups I like. Bit, being a teacher who likes data and technical explanations, you are the tops and always can't wait to see your AB reactions. I would love to suggest some better songs from them, but I know there is a priority list and how long it would take if you DO cover it. But I look forward nevertheless. Keep up the great videos!! (PS, I saw your SRV reactions and is also a big love of his music, he'll I loved 15 minutes away from when I went to HS when he moved back to Dallas in the late 80s and I agreed with moat of your opinions there too, sorry for the negative crap you got).

Lol! I like this song too. Its not intended as a ‘hit’ or a single. It is a deep cut that is a ‘grower’. It didn’t stand out on first listen, but I liked it better every time I heard it, and never got sick of it and it makes for a nice transition of sound from other song styles on the record. 🤘

The people who request AB songs should suggest the studio version first. That way you can actually see the difference between stdio version and live with orchestra version. Big difference, trust me. Some for the better , some no so much, but there is a major difference. I love your reactions David, though I may not agree with you always, you are on point most of the times. I feel though that AB doesn't get justice because you're more on the technical analysis area rather than emotional, lyrical and the feels. Alter Bridge songs rely on feels very much, on how ppl connect and relate to these songs and that's why fans love them. In any case, I do follow your reactions and enjoy them. Thanks.
This is one if those songs I like, and I also like they didnt throw in a random guitar solo, Alter Bridge have some songs that dont have guitar solos that I feel like if it was any other band they would try to throw in a guitar solo just for guitar solo sakes. For a song you said might be your least favourite of theirs but still getting a 7.7 is insane (In a good way) I think shows the band is capable of doing extremly well
This is legitimately one of my ALL-TIME favorite songs. I went to a show a few years ago as a VIP. During the pre-show warm-up they asked for requests and this is the song I requested. They they hadn't played the song in a decade and they couldn't remember how the song went. A year or so later I hear they started playing it in their sets. I LOVE Alter Bridge, but Myles just doesn't do it for me Live. He deviates the vocals so far away from what they recorded that it completely takes me out of the song. What is that note at 8:38? I don't understand how the albums sounds so good and every live recording he a nasally high note I'm assuming to preserve his voice. Listen to the album recording and tell me what you think.

it's a good one but not the right one to react , "this side of fate " ,"burn it down" ,"down to my last" ,"coming home" ,"show me a leader" and" rise today" are waiting for you brother .
The only thing about this song that I really liked was the orchestra playing along with Mark. I happen to like this song but to like is in the ear of the beholder and obviously not for you. But that being said I will always love to hear me some Alter Bridge or Tremonti thanks anyway for the song.
