Fun fact, this area was once a seabed. Those layers of sandstone each represent around 2 million years or so of sediment build up. The area was uplifted sometime around 380 million years ago as the continental plate moved over a mantle bulge and hotspot. It was again uplifted during the merger of the N. American and Pacific plates sometime between 80 and 50 million years ago.

You should see the Northern Lights, lighting the entire sky when it's near freezing, in the center of Alaska. I was blessed to see it in August, 1973. I was at Ft. Greely, Army base at the TV station. I spent hours sitting near the top of our tower, mesmerized.
I was up in Fairbanks AK, several years ago. The lights were fantastic, and no camera does it justice. I was TDY there for six weeks, it during that time it warmed up to -40. Loved it up there.

You're absolutely correct! Most Americans aren't even aware of the amazing sights our own country has to offer. That's why the US is actually a top tourist destination for people around the world.
Yes, I drove through Australia in 1980. It was just as beautiful. Every morning waking to flocks of parrots in the trees. Kangaroo everywhere. Kookaburra and wallabies. My favorite place I’ve ever been!I’m so My favorite Utah road is 12. Going through all five national parks to Moab
Hey Huss, we lived in a cabin on a mountain, the next mountain over, a kid would play the bagpipes, and it did bounce all around! Thanks for the fun Vidios!😎
Utah is my favorite state , I fell in love with it years and years ago. The Scenic back byways is the only way to go, had to rush out when an unexpected rainstorm hit but other then that its indescribable unless you've been there xD. Thank you for taking me through some of my old memories. I went the same route to a campground in greenland for showers and hair washing !
I love that area of Utah. When I first bought my Tacoma in 2004, that was one of the first places I hit. From San Diego I headed north on the 15. Picked up the 9 outside St. George and drove through Zion to the 89. Took the 89 north to the 12. Headed east and toured Bryce Canyon. Next day I continued on the 12 east and north to the town of Torrey and the 24. Picked up the 24 east to Hanksville. Next day took the 95 south to the 261 and the 163 south to Arizona. I think that was one of the most fantastic drives I ever took, scenery wise. The landscapes I passed through were magnificent! So, for a short ways we crossed paths on the 24 between Caineville and Hanksville. Never forget those quaking aspens high up in those mountains when I pulled over up there at a overlook. It was so great that I went back to Utah the next week and took the same route until I got to Torrey. I wanted to head to the Going to the Sun Highway in Wyoming so at Torrey I picked up the 24 north to Loa. In Loa I picked up the 72 north to the 10 north to the 191 outside of Price & Helper. From there I headed into the Flaming Gorge on the 191, and beyond to Great Falls, Montana. What a mind blowing adventure that was!
You sure did get a change in scenery. Going from a nice, cool green scenery, to the pits of hell. The mountains where also nice, seeing the bacon strips. Glad you made out of there before the big rains..
It's too bad you aren't in Green River, Utah currently, but if you are ever going to be near, Green River has their annual Melon Days on the third weekend of September. They are fabulous. They have all kinds, from the Green River Watermelon, to cantaloupe, honey dew, and my favorite is called the Navajo melon.
It's another great one!! I've never been through that exact part of Utah but there sure is some spectacular scenery in a lot of the desolate part of the state.
You find the prettiest scenery Wonderhussy. Of course your presence makes it all special. I'm wondering how many slide whistles will be mailed to you at. Burning Man. Stay well Sarah.
Add this to another Great video geez those clouds and that beautiful background of the sun and moon formation it really does not get much better love it thank you great work !!
Thank you WH for showing us this gorgeous place. I drove much of the Australian outback in 1999 and 2000 and man is it gorgeous. You are irreplaceable WH! Just a real gem of a person. J
The scenery looks like the middle of a cowboy and indian western movie. Crazy! Sarah! 😎🙏👍P.S sitting back sipping mushroom tea, all of a sudden you see a ghostly stagecoach and horses go riding by. 🐎👍

Another amazing adventure! I live vicariously through you. I take care of my mom and I can't really go anywhere, but your videos are my escape, we're lucky to have so many beautiful and desolate natural wonders here in the western USA. Ride on Wonderhussy!!!!
Entertaining as always. I have a grand marquis the past 20 years so trying to get to the temples for me has been by bicycle. Only when I was there last, there were lots of angry flys. Flys that no amount of DEET could repel. So I turned back. But be alert, I have surprised more than one sun worshipper and occasional person taking a shower by the side of the trail in the middle of nowhere Utah who did not hear me coming. I was glad to see you had the place to yourself. I was afraid it would be crowded in July. I used to be able to get a campsite in Arches without any problem. Now you can’t even get into the park it’s so jammed sometimes. I’m glad to see that there may be some places left that are not overrun. Maybe the 95+ heat had something to do with it.
Congratulations! Great trip video. I spent 12 years exploring central, western, and southern Utah, as long as you have enough water, fuel, and common sense (don't try driving though running water) it is safe and spectacular.
