Because they want us to waste even more time on their activity, they already made it to where everyone needs to be close by to it basically but now they removed sparrows so you might miss out one one or 2 especially if you're behind a building or no where near the bonfire. They also added a timer to the ball as well, I think you get like 8-10 seconds to throw it if you're holding it. Oh well I'm not worried too much about it I'm not gonna use the armor as ornaments and I remember last year's armor the stats reset when the new season came out (season of plunder I believe).
I don’t understand why Bungie disabled sparrows in the EAZ. It could of been some technical reason why but they never talk to us anymore. It wasn’t hurting anyone and if you go too far you instantly die anyway. I’m completely missing Solstice this year because it’s extremely boring and they expect me to completely castrate my builds I’ve spent months (if not years) working on by wearing the shitty rolled armor they give us. If they just gave it to us as an ornament so all it did was destroy our fashion, that would of been fine. But noooooo, they need the money from people transmog-ing event armor sets.

Bungie said recently that they don’t talk to us a lot lately because people have been harassing and threatening employees
