My baby brother took his life at the age of 24 on March 10, 2019. He fought a hard battle with his demons every day. I know he was tired. I know that if there was some way he could’ve stayed, he would be here now. I miss him every day. I picked this song to play at his funeral. I couldn’t listen to it for the longest time. But it is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
I will never forget the day my Daddy died. I worked at the hospital. Went to his room on my break. My Aunt's were there and finally one Aunt said come sit with your Daddy. So I sat and took his hand and seconds he went cold! 23yrs later and I still cry for him! I need and miss my Daddy!
My brother passed away unexpectedly this past March. I had heard this shortly before. Mom was asking me and my sister what songs we should play at the funeral. I suggested this and neither of them had heard it before. So I pulled it up on youtube and we listened in mom's kitchen. All of us was in tears by the end. Mom said it was the perfect choice. Day of the funeral, emotions like I had never felt before hit me all at once starting at the first note. RIP Tim (Weasel)....my big brother!!! I love and miss you big Bro!!!
Jamey took hiatus from country music after he slipped on ice and got a concussion. The concussion left his creative brain (songwriting) kinda dormant and his brain focused on survival. He is such a brilliant songwriter. George Strait, Trace Adkins & so many more he has wrote hits for. He is coming back but u are right he looks different. Like a man trying to only survive, 🤔. But talented he definitely is! His version of this song has been & Will be played at many funerals including my dad’s cousins & definitely mine. Thanks for a blessed reaction. I luv ur heart! So good! Stay Blessed Seb!
Jamey Johnson is incredible! His voice is beautiful, he is beautiful 😍 There is nothing that compares to hearing him live. He performs with such talent and emotion. You cannot control the chills when everyone sings along.
This is a old Hymn! I love this song and noone can sing it any better! If you real want to hear another beautiful Hymn from Jamey Johnson, go check him out singing "Buelah Land" I saw you tearing up and I started bawling! Jamey Johnson doesn't get the recognition he deserves in Country Music!
Had I heard this song in time……I would have had it played at my Fathers fu real in February. Now every time I hear it, it brings a tear to this big ol country boys eye. Jamie is made for this song, no one else is even remotely close to the emotion it takes to relay the message.
I've listened to Jamey Johnson sing this song, in this same video, so many times and I never get tired of hearing it. I don't want to die anytime soon, but I want to be able to look down on my "home going" to hear it one last time. He sings it with so much raw emotion, and I tear up every time I hear it. Absolutely a beautiful reaction to a song that pulls at my heartstrings no matter how I'm feeling at that moment. I'd give anything to have Jamey Johnson to put out a gospel album.
Welcome brother. I love my Jamie Johnson so I'm in 2013 and farm aid in Hershey, Pennsylvania and I didn't even know who he was at that time. Now I love him. Welcome welcome tears in my eyes. Welcome. God bless. Don't forget to vote for Trump
This was played at our brother's funeral. He was the youngest of five. He was preceded in death by two of four older sisters. He died at 57, far too young, after a life of service. He served in the Air Force, Special Services, and US Civil Service. As the oldest, I never expected to be present at the funerals of the three youngest. Thanks for including this song. It's obviously very important to those of us who loved my brother. PJC, we love you always.
Beautiful and thoughtful song. And your right Sebs. When that time comes we won't have to worry about those earthly burdens. We just have to reach for that next, new life. Great reaction my friend! Your LOVE of country music is shining ☀️
@@lt.spears1889 what you say is extremely true. Yet to "reach up" is just to live our lives as best as we can so that Jesus doesn't have to reach down so far. Giving Jesus the reach needed to save those whom have had troubled lives. "Reaching up" as I was taught just meant being as good and Godly a person in Earth so the entrance into Heaven has fewer burdens.
To me this is such an underrated song. I was introduced to this song when I was having a hard time after my best friend passed away. It soothes my soul every time I hear it.
Love this song and artist! Randy Houser also released a version. Sebs, thank you. For your honest reactions. For your insight & wisdom. For being a Godly man, a good husband & father & dog Daddy. Your platform is powerful & I appreciate the refreshing & impressionable role model you represent on it daily. God Bless you & yours! ❤
One of the greatest songs ever written. A month from today my sweet wife will be gone 6 years. This was played at her funeral. I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. Thanks for reacting to this
I lost my wife of 15 years unexpectedly this past year (we were also lifelong friends since first grade, that was 1977) and the ONE thing she asked me if she went before me was that this song be played at her funeral……for as much as I miss my lovely wife, I did as she asked. I do also believe in our weakest moments is when we have to strongly consider the importance of the choices we make. Just rest assured you aren’t alone, even if you feel like you are🙏🙏🙏
Sebs, I am blessed to have been with my great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and father. There was complete calmness surrounding us. Fortunately, 3 of those deaths were complete quite, calm and peaceful. My grandmother was a bit different. Her death was not painless. The hospice nurse told us not blame ourselves if we weren’t there. It just means that whoever IS meant to be there, will be there. A beautiful experience that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. LadyGator🐊🐊🐊
I was there in person for this show/performance… you can hear the whole bush over the crowd it was so powerful and moving. It was crazy to see 20,000 people just speechless… and yea 20,000 country fans in Hartford Connecticut. Crowd was amazing show was incredible Willie absolutely finished off the night perfect
Jamey Johnson is so underrated, years ago I listened to his albums every night for months during a rough time. Great storytelling and beautiful ballads
Jamey is one of the rare singers who sounds better live than he does on recordings. And his guitar, Old Maple, is an artifact. He has so many autographs of stars who have crossed over along with those still living. This song was written by Jamey's buddy, Randy Houser, who's a talented singer in his own right, and Craig Monday. Randy's version is more heavily produced. There are a few videos of Jamey and Randy singing it together, too.
The relative silence of that large of a crowd while someone is performing is in and of itself a VERY POWERFUL thing to witness. A friend and I performed this song at a friend's funeral. It was very hard to do with everyone crying, but well received.
I’m terribly sorry. No parent should have to bury a child. I feel very compelled to say hearing this song was no accident and that you heard it at the moment you needed. Maybe that’s your boy, letting you know he’s made it, met Jesus and seeing all God has promised in Heaven. Until you meet again. God Bless.
I squalled like a baby when I heard this. It still makes me cry each time I hear it. One day we are all gonna come face to face with our own mortality. At that moment, all that will matter is 'What have we done with Jesus?'. Accept Him now while He still pleads for you to come.
My first Jamey song was Somewhere Between Jennings and Jones. I fell in love with his voice and haven't heard a song I hadn't liked by him. He even sings covers better than originals, and that's not easy.
Jamey Johnson is great. The first time I heard him was this song, and my mind went to Zakk Wylde's song Lost Prayer. Although Zakk is pure rock, I would like Jamey and him to get together for what I assume would be one amazing duet. If you check out Zakk, go for a video to really hear the lyrics - live performances are more about the great guitar.
You said this song is making you want to cry and im like bud im already past tearing up. Also look at how many people in the croud at night wearing sunglasses so you cant see thier tears lol.
You have to check out his Farm Aid performance of "You Can't Cash My Checks" from this same concert. It really speaks to me because I'm struggling in business and it really brings me comfort
You need to do Randy Houser version, he is Jamey best friend and Jamey has said this song is best performed by Randy, I have heard it live and it brought the whole place to tears
@Sebsduran Farm Aid started in 1985 By Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young. The farmers of America were having difficulty staying above water.
Lead me home was written by Randy houser which is another artist you should check out, if you like this go check out Jamey Johnson's version of Sweet Beulah Land.
The song reminds me of years ago when we were working cattle. We had been out probably about 8 hours and then at a friend's house having barbecue drinking some beer and just enjoying each other. The husband who owns the Ranch love to sing and I got a phone call in the middle of the night that after everybody left he went up to the top of the giant Hill across the feedlot and shot himself in the head. Nobody seems to know why I pray Yeshua gave him a pass to heaven even though he committed suicide. So many people hurting and so many people not asking friends and Yeshua for help.
Regarding Dan Vasc: have you done his cover of "The Music of the Night" from the Phantom of the Opera? Or, "Gethsemane " from Jesus Christ Superstar? I could just watch him for hours.
I can't believe that this is not an Appalachian folk song - it's so true to early gospel songs. Just beautiful and soul-stirring.
My pops passed away 8 years ago at 230 am. As a Marine, the last person he saw was me, Hooray Pops, and Semper Fi
Just a man, a song, and a guitar had everyone stone cold silent

The Song was written by Jamey Johnson's good friend Singer/Songwriter Randy Houser
We played it at my grandpas funeral this year and I lost it. Couldn’t hold back the tears
I felt the same way when I heard it after I lost my little sister.
I've listened to Jamey Johnson sing this song, in this same video, so many times and I never get tired of hearing it. Yea….More Jamey Johnson!! Please keep going. He’s so damn good! Master Songwriter.
Grief never goes away. Today is a day if feel the loss of my brother. Then, this posted.
Devine.
Beautiful and thoughtful song.
And your right Sebs. When that time comes we won't have to worry about those earthly burdens. We just have to reach for that next, new life.
Great reaction my friend! Your LOVE of country music is shining ☀️
We don’t need to reach up, Christ already reached down, or was his sacrifice in vane?

LOVE Jamey!! This song hits me to my soul. Just like every other song he sings!! Wish I would of heard this before my Dad's funeral!😢😢
I heard this song for the first time the day my 45 year old son passed away. It was so beautiful we had it played at his funeral. 🥲
Amazing song and it hits home love it
To me this is such an underrated song. I was introduced to this song when I was having a hard time after my best friend passed away. It soothes my soul every time I hear it.
I cry every time I listen to this song 😢😢
Never heard this before. My mom died a month ago and this song means more than I can say.

Randy Houser wrote the song.
This almost sounds like a hymn. No frills, bells and whistles. Just his guitar and his beautiful clear voice.
One of the greatest songs ever written. A month from today my sweet wife will be gone 6 years. This was played at her funeral. I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face. Thanks for reacting to this
I'm so very sorry.
Prayers that the happy memories outweigh the sadness

You and Ali are the greatest ❤Thanks!
Jamey Johnson is so underrated, years ago I listened to his albums every night for months during a rough time. Great storytelling and beautiful ballads
First time hearing this song and this artist. Wow, that was powerful!
What a powerful and raw song and an equally powerful and raw commentary by the host / uploader. Very sincere and thoughtful.
This is one of the songs we played at my Daddy’s funeral. This August will be 6 years since he passed away.
This is in my Will and last wishes, and is to be one of my funerals songs. Absolutely beautiful!
Mine too!!! ✝️🩶
There are some songs where I find myself closing my eyes to listen more intently. This is one of those. Such a simple powerful performance.
I played this at my grandfather’s funeral and I have never been able to hear it the same since! 😭😭

Sincerest condolences, God's grace and peace be with you. 🙏💖

Jamey Johnson is one of my favorites! Absolutely love your guys videos. Thank you for sharing.
I wept. Lost a good man and a close friend this week and this is just so appropriate. Rest my brother.
I love your channel. Thank you
Its a must to see

We played this at my dad's funeral as he was carried out of the church
Sooooo underrated artist
Beautiful simply beautiful his voice is amazing
This song brings tears to my eyes, thanks Jamey.
Will be playing at my service.
He does a great job singing “promises” live in front of randy Travis too!
Jayme has such a way to make a beautiful song break you right in half
My first Jamey song was Somewhere Between Jennings and Jones. I fell in love with his voice and haven't heard a song I hadn't liked by him. He even sings covers better than originals, and that's not easy.
Beautiful ❤❤❤
I will learn this
Just subbed.

You have to check out his Farm Aid performance of "You Can't Cash My Checks" from this same concert. It really speaks to me because I'm struggling in business and it really brings me comfort
We played this at my 27 year old sister’s funeral. I bawl every time I hear it
Farm Aid is an annual event that Willie Nelson & John Cougar Mellencamp (maybe Neil Young as well) started in the ‘80s.
We played it at my brother's funeral Jan 3.
This is the main song I will have played at my funeral. I love it
Know our good friend Randy Houser would Love hearing those kind words as he wrote this song & at times you will find him singing it with Jamey
Randy Houser wrote this and they did it together on Farm Aid 2019
We played this song at my dad’s funeral last year. It was a year ago today actually that we had the funeral mass Sept 14
This is the song I requested my family to play at my passing.
I have as well! ❤
Excellent choice; I’ve been wanting to play this song on guitar, I just haven’t. This guy is an amazing performer overall!
Beautiful. I’d never heard him before.
🔥🔥🔥Another Jamie Johnson song you need to watch ( live version) is The four walls of Raiford. It’s phenomenal.
My favorite JJ song !!!
I played this at mv momma's funeral. Fitting
At Farm Aid 2019 Jamey & Randy Houser does it together as Randy wrote it.
😭😭😭😭😭 Memories
Beautiful!
Nicest person you will ever meet, he's REAL
You should hear him do this live,it is always the song he closes his show with, and there is seldom a dry eye in the place.
The first time I heaard this song was at my baby brother Kevins wake the night before his fineral.
So beautiful ❤
AMEN Jaime!
Stars in Alabama
Jamey Johnson
I also love California Riots... Well, there aren't many of his songs that aren't favorites.
Great song. Great singer. Great reaction. Miss seeing your beautiful wife. I guess that about sums it up.
Lead me home was written by Randy houser which is another artist you should check out, if you like this go check out Jamey Johnson's version of Sweet Beulah Land.
Willie Nelson started Farm Aide about 30 years ago to help family farmers keep their family farm and not run out of business by big corps.
You should check out Tyler Childers. He's AMAZING. So powerful. But THIS... Jamie Johnson, it just doesn't get any better than this. Wow.
The song reminds me of years ago when we were working cattle. We had been out probably about 8 hours and then at a friend's house having barbecue drinking some beer and just enjoying each other. Who suggested Jamie Johnson "In Color" lol The Conversation Hank Jr and Waylon plz
Regarding Dan Vasc: have you done his cover of "The Music of the Night" from the Phantom of the Opera? Or, "Gethsemane " from Jesus Christ Superstar? I could just watch him for hours.
Out a Doubt one of The Nicest people you will ever meet
You need to hear "Four Walls of Raford" I would love to see your reaction to it, it would be fantastic to watch.
Why can his awsome music not be played
I understand
will you please do Jamey Johnson between Jennings and Jones
You need to listen to the original recording. It will blow you away.
Its a lot slower than the studio version but it definitely works
Brother Jamey
