I just wonder how they are gonna do houses for both Ghostbusters and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, but either way it’s gonna once again be a hell of a year!
Theme parks are a uniquely temporary art form. And YES it is art. Halloween events are 1000 times more temporary, mazes and scare zones to be torn down and thrown away. That's why I love this channel, THIS is the only way to experience this art that artists poured their soul into
I absolutely agree with you on this. I love the artistry that goes into haunted attractions/events like this one. It may seem crazy to people from the outside who may not understand my absolute appreciation for it, but I have to know it’s got to be okay. My first time experiencing this was 2007 when I was looking at what Orlando was doing (while I was in California) and I loved what they were doing with the theme of the Carnival of Carnage. This is just one of those things where you’d have to actually be there to understand that artistry and why there was a cult following at the time because of it.
actually being from the real town Carey Oh originally makes HHN even more fun. its hilarious to see a "schoolhouse" from "carey" that looks like the school i went to as a kid. 10/10 Universal!
The Director: Real blood looks better on film, the pain the fear... Texas Chainsaw Massacre: I know right man just sip on that shit like soda The Director: Wat
It's so rare for me to see extensive details and even in-house footage from previous Halloween Horror Nights events. Even the HHN wiki I've visited in the past is pretty sparse on the visual information, although this is likely due to Universal's partly reasonable code of secrecy when it comes to their mazes for the event. Excellent work here, Sam! Looking forward to more of these HHN videos, as well as other Halloween-related videos from you :3
Small side-note, the Letter written to tease Dead Exposure: Patient Zero is addressed to Kimberly Duncan, the same name as the Head of Marketing and Development for Cyberdyne Systems in T2:3D Battle Across Time.
Great footage from previous HHN years! I’ve never seen majority of this footage so this was amazing! It seems there are so many references to Carey Ohio in almost every years HHN
As a Ohioan that lives a short drive from Carey, it's super cool to see Universal taking inspiration from a humble Midwest town in past Halloween Horror Nights.
being a resident of Ohio my whole life it's pretty cool that horror nights uses a town from here. I was surprised to find out it was a real town. plus horror nights has done a trick r treat theme a few times and that movie was also based in Ohio in Warren Valley. as far as I can tell Warren valley isn't a real town though. nightmare on elm Street is also based in Ohio in springwood Ohio which is a real place
This is one of those instances (when it comes to this Horror Nights in Orlando) that you’d have to be there to understand - if not appreciate - the dedication of the creativity that went into the original lore of HHN.
i love you mr. expedition (sam i think). there are a bunch of explanative videos on the internet but you really stand out. i really enjoy your voice too, it’s so easy to listen to.
We have “the Pittsfield haunted house.” Up here in VT that opens every year. It’s a volunteer ran attraction by the local fire department and people can volunteer to work there. Me and my older brother volunteered to be scarred a few years in the 90s. I haven’t been in quite a few years though but it’s a cool little thing. Story was the house is part of an estate of like 40acres, it was a hospital to treat tuberculosis in the early 90s and they tried experimental treats such as replacing patients with lungs with balloons, putting weights on them to get them to built up lung strength and adapt to the illness. They even had a separate building designated for children specifically who contracted it. Due to their not being a definite cure or method for the illness all deaths weren’t held against the drs since they were at least trying come up solutions. What broke the camels back though was like in the 40s a child snuck out his room and into the main building where his mother had the illness too and wanted to see her after hours. An overnight nurse found the boy and was gonna take him back to bed, but they heard a blood curdling scream from a patient. So she asked him to stay put as she checked on them. She ran upstairs and slipped falling and bashing her head on the stairs dying instantly. This led to the law officials to conduct investigations due to the accident. They found that even though the trials of curing patients were failed a dozen times, they kept conducting the same trials repeatedly, coupled with the children showing signs of psychological trauma due to hearing screams of death in the nights and such they deemed even though the nurses death was accidental that every clinical experiment to cure patients was more in humane than beneficial, coupled with the outside communities catching wind funding dropped fast and place was shutdown and abandoned. Years went by and legend said you could hear the nurse and boy on the estate grounds every nights and cried of dying patients, sometimes lucky trespassers caught sight of a dr with a bloody balloon and weird tools. In the 80s the fire department decided to buy the estate and open it every October with volunteers from the community to cash in on the story and help funding for the town as a whole. Stories were true to an extent but given the times back then and how medical science wasn’t as up to par it made sense in a way so I always thought it was cool.
just saw on tik tok someone posted behind the scenes from horror nights 2021- carey's coming back for a possible maze i think! thats how i found this video, which is even funnier bc i dont live that far away from the actual town of carey ohio. wonderfully in depth video!
Thank you! Having grown up in NW Ohio, I’ve always wondered where the Carey, Ohio connection came from for HHN. The only info I could find was just “the hometown of one of the managers”. It’s good to get a name and face to go with this awesome event. 🎃
Ohio has that “hell is real” sign. I would literally create a hell themed house purely for meme value. Or maybe a Cleveland sports moments themed house. There are for sure some horrific ones. Source: I live here
If they ever get around to making an HHN movie, it absolutely must be set in their fictionalized version of Carey, OH, and not Universal Studios itself. I would rather they do an in-universe, lore-based approach instead of a meta one.
I have lived in Carey, Ohio all of my life. I wouldn't say the town isn't any more haunted than any other, but I have had several experiences throughout my life as have others I have talked to. I love the idea that Universal has created an entire event using our name. I grew up with Lora Saulls, and I have no doubt she played a huge part in bringing this all to life.
So, I know it’s just a random line at the start of the video. But only the Silent Hill movies take any inspiration from Centralia. The original games have no connection and the fog is actually a programming trick to hide pop in that happened to enhance the game significantly. Which is honestly way less cursed than a town thats perpetually on fire and therefore full of smoke.
I love this channel. I usually don't subscribe to youtube channels, I usually just leave likes on videos, but I had to make this channel an exception because having less than 100k subs on such a good, informative channel is criminal.
Great footage from HHN in previous years. We've always wanted to go but haven't gotten the chance to attend yet. Love the sound of the Carey Drive-In concept!
I have been living here for all but like 1 year of my lifetime (although it is only 12 years, I know I am young lol) but it is a really cool town and it is cool that we have our town here
You missed the best bit about the Legendary Truth house which was the ghost in the floor! But yeah would love to see what’s happening at the Carey General Hospital
Told you I would have an awesome listen on my way home tonight!! Always love some HHN! You mentioned though another place in Centralia I think is how you say it, PA. We went thru a ride at Knoebels they said was based on that. Have you ever done anything on that place? Anyway looking forward to seeing yal at HHN! I can't wait yal gotta at least do a maze or so with us! Have a great trip! ~Dawn
I think, if I were to set a location in Carey, Ohio for a spooky story, it'd be in a Shopping center. as an 80s/90s throwback. (plus as a place to push merch.) "Chopping Center", "Maul of America", something like that, based along the lines of mannequins coming to life.

Rob's Rides I’m jealous you worked there. One of the best Haunts I’ve visited. I’m from Indiana and visited many Haunts between there and HHN and Netherworld is one of the best.
Rob's Rides Oh yeah There is a haunt in Sandusky, Ohio that opens in June every year called Ghostly Manor it’s really good as well. Whenever you go to cedar point check it out. I found out about them in 2005 when I worked at cedar point.
Halloween is 100% the best time of year for theme parks and in general , you can see the creative team of each park run wild with there ideas
Can't wait for this year

It's that season again in which hhn has come back in to our lives
It is!
BOB for me it never leaves my life
Carey’s a fascinating place. And I thought growing up in Sleepy Hollow was spooky because of the Headless Horseman
A troubled town

You called it dude. Killer Klowns From Outer Space went from Scare Zone to Maze. Can't wait for September.
Killer Klowns looked awesome.

Lots to come this Halloween season!
11:58 that's me as a Night of the Living Dead Zombie!!! Ahhhh I love seeing your videos about HHN!
Cool
Awesome! Was it fun getting to scare people?

Not gonna lie, I never picked up on Carey, Ohio being used for the event until I saw this video. Great one like always!
I grew up in Carey, Ohio! This is dope!! We have a local run haunted house on Halloween called Scary Carey as well
Lol, I was just watching the history of HHN again and was wondering when you were gonna make more Halloween videos.
Oh alot to come Jeffrey!

They should create a fictional backstory to their version of Carey Ohio.
I love how much fun they have with these references
Love the Expedition Haunts! Im dying (no pun intended!) to make it to HHN within the next 5 years!
Twisted traditions was the best scarezone yet imo
I love that you used bindmans art he’s such a talented artist!
A great guy!
Expedition Theme Park I got a few of his art during megacon last year well worth the money!
Wild to know so many references to Carey, a place I'm really close to. Grew up by it
Boy Knott's Scary Farm is going to be at least 5 video's for you guys. Still the best and the 1st!
