I can't imagine the pain of stepping on those traps, it makes my stomach turn!! And it's crazy that the 60% of the Vietnam’s army was women! Such a valuable video, I would have learned so much more for my history exams by watching this instead of studying it in the books. Well done amazing vlog!
These traps were not designed to kill instantly but to make the victim suffer for as long as possible and strike fear to the whole squad. Imagine seeing your best friend fall into the trap, your best bet is to ignore his cry and keep moving. If you stop to try helping him, you will get ambushed or thrown grenade to death.
@@sexillu it was a really effective tactic, while it seemed cruel, it was ruthlessly pragmatic, youd take out 4 men and demoralise the unit, the soldier, 2 to carry em home, and 1 to carry their pack. the vietcong also lost more of their own number to the traps, but despite that they were still extremely effective, being cheap, powerful and simple to build.
My dad got sucked into this shit, even after the Edgewood Arsenal tests. He has known for decades that his enemy is not the Vietnamese people, but his own government.
Honestly, I am more than impressed than human being were able to live in those tunnels for 12 years, it's unbelievable! Thank you for trying to share it with us even if you were struggling with your backpack 😂
In those tunnel, u can liver in 12 year or even survive the war. But on surface? I’m not sure that u can stay alive for one day during the rain of B-52 bomb
This place will become more interesting, if they allows us to explore all the tunnels in Cu Chi. I mean about its depth ... about 12 meters underground? It will be a great experience~
Very informative tour...I cannot believe they lived in there for 12 years like that. Yikes! If you make it to Hue, do the guided tour for the DMZ like CularTravels did. Really interesting, too.
One fact: In current day, Cu Chi tunnel has been extended for tourists (both Vietnamese and western) In OG design, we must crawl slowly down there and it’s extremely hard

I know right it’s such a long time! I did get to Hue but again unfortunately because of speedy travel and some bus issues I only had 1 day to explore!
