It's not all that modern (or clean, unfortunately). HCM is definitely a lot more modern than many other cities. It's still an amazing country, with great people, as you said!

I’m Vietnamese American. I left my hometown for a better life. I’ve learned American culture and y’all traveling and learn Vietnamese culture and history. Win win. Btw, y’all make amazing trip ever
Loving that you chose Vietnam as your first country to travel in Asia...it's a beautiful country full of history (much of which was spent warring, so to see the country able to rise above it despite the disadvantages and obstacles handed to them, is amazing!) Unfortunately, a lot of history was destroyed when more American bombs were dropped on the land than all of WWII. Hue's Imperial City and a lot of the amazing ancient Cham architecture was blasted out of history. What a crime against humanity as that's like blowing up Angkor Wat, Mach Picchu, or the Egyptian pyramids...that's just something I find absolutely unforgivable. The Vietnamese are a very forgiving lot. More so than Americans can ever be if the position was reversed.
It is such a beautiful country and we're so glad we chose it to explore first in Asia! It is a real shame the destruction that was caused to the country.

I agreed! I"m Vietnamese living in America for the past 48yrs and I love America too. But, I find Vietnam is more interesting because of the rich history and mixed cultures of the French, Chinese infuences. I love Vietnam and plan to go back for my retirement.
I absolutely loved watching this video. It is very detailed and well organized. Your commentary not only has so information based on research but also has so much positive energy. I am a Vietnamese but have lived most of my life in Virginia, USA. Your video really makes me want to go back. Thank you!
Wow! What an adventure! That post office was beautiful! It did look like a train station! The tunnels were amazing and I can't imagine living in them. So much interesting history. The architecture was beautiful also and the food! I think we are going to go have some ramen at one of our favorite places. I've never had a Bahn mi but there are places around here that have them. May have to try that too. Can't wait to see what comes next. Stay safe and have fun!
HCMC was a great starting point for us! Tons to see and do there and yes lots of history. We're excited to share more! It's just gotten better and better!
I really love how you two make your adventure videos, the way you film all the breathtaking scenes of all destinations that you've come to, they're so good! Especially when you first come to my country, Vietnam, the way you talk about Ho Chi Minh City is so great, also about our leader, Ho Chi Minh, gives me the feeling that you give respect and true love to our country. I feel very lucky that I know your vlog, I find that not all foreign travel bloggers who can do as well as you. I really love your videos and I really support you continue making new travelling series and I really hope that your videos will be more widely known!
What a very different look at the city versus what we saw during the war period. The war museum sounds very interesting, throughout this video I noticed several war relics on display. This series of videos is going to be very interesting as some of us compare "then to now" with what we knew. Until next time... Travel safe.
It has been interesting seeing this country's perspective on a lot of things. We've learned a lot just being here, but also from the Ken Burns documentary. We had a great time in HCMC!
You're such lovely couple. I'm appreciated that you take time to learn Vietnam's history. Can't wait for your next video in Vietnam. Hope you guys have fun time here.
Hi guys. Your video is awesome. It reminded me of my visit to Saigon in July last year. Too bad we only stayed 2 days there and we missed a lot of interesting things. Anyway Saigon street food is delicious. We'll be back for sure.
We were there for 4 days and thought that was a good amount of time to see most of the things to see. The food was awesome! Thanks and thanks for watching!
I couldn't believe how small that entrance was, and then I realized that that was the enlarged version! Whoa! Very cool to learn about some of the history in this area. The food looks amazing as well!
It was a tight squeeze! It was very interesting learning about that area. We love to learn about all perspectives of major world events. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Thanks for choosing my country as your first destination in Asia. I’m sure you guys have been having a wonderful time there with culture and food. Your videos are very informative and help me understand more of the history behind each place and thing! I love watching how foreigners view my country from their perspective! And one thing I’m so proud that my country food is great, as you and many visitors comment. Looking forward to your upcoming videos
The Reunification Museum looked like the former US Embassy in Saigon. I will never forget those images of people trying to get to the roof of the embassy for a evac flight to freedom. Nor will I forget those images of the helicopters being pushed off the aircraft carriers to make room for evacuees. But the most enduring images were the body count figures shown on the national nightly news. With all that being said, it’s great to see Saigon peaceful & prosperous.
Those are some wild scenes! We have seen some of that in Ken Burns documentary. We learned a lot from that documentary and it really helped us appreciate our travels here even more
I don't often comment on RUclips and I have seen many video when people film destination when they travel. But you guys actually did your research and gave background and history to places that you went and eat and I think that is educational and awesome to watch!
How fascinating. Everything is so different than what we are used to in the U.S. The architecture is amazing and that traffic! Wow! Thanks for a great video! ❤️👏
I've been following you guys in the U.S. and I cannot believe that you actually chose Vietnam as one of your vacation spots. Thank you!!! Hope you guys have a blast there.

One of my favorite videos y’all have ever made. It is really something to see what every day Vietnam looks like today. This is a very educational video, I am going to make my husband and kids watch it. Also, the food looks a lot stuff we can get in Texas so we must have a huge Vietnamese influence here, I am surprised that I am surprised. Thank you for sharing your travels with us.
Texas is home to the second largest Vietnamese population in the US. Not sure where you’re located in Texas but Houston has a tons of great Viet restaurants :)
That's so awesome to hear! Thank you so much! Houston has a huge Vietnamese population! You can definitely find lots of great Vietnamese food in many parts of Texas. Thanks for watching!
I really love the way you introduce my HCM city to persons that not ever come. Though many places with such amazing views in NorthSide have been waiting to discover. Thanks for your video and hope all of you enjoy trip in VN onwards.
I loved your vlog so much, it really inspired me and now I am binge watching all of your videos! I just posted my vlogs from Ho Chi Minh as well, it is such a magical city!! I can't wait to see your next videos!
Thank you so much for visiting and showing the world about Viet Nam. I was born and raised in Sai Gon, so it means so much that you made this video. Please keep up all the great work that you’ve been doing and stay safe!
I went to some of those exact food places you guys went to a few years ago! If you're still there I'd also try the banh xeo. But honestly the Vietnamese food in the US is pretty good. I also watched some documentaries before I went. Everything from WW2 to the Vietnam War in our history textbooks has not been updated since the Cold War. It was fascinating to hear JFK thought we should be helping Ho Chi Minh get independence before he became president, how the north Vietnamese thought they were fighting for independence and not communism, and the US got involved because France wanted to hang on to its colony and threatened to leave NATO.
We tried banh xeo in Hoi An and loved it! Vietnamese food in the states is very good! It's very interesting to learn more about what really happened outside of the history books we were required to use in school!

I have been watching lots of RUclipsrs about Vietnam when They were visiting you guys the best out of all. Enjoyed your videos. Saigon has been changed a lot since my last visit there.

Love this video! The only small error I would like to correct is that Hochiminh City now only has 21 districts. Districts 2, 9 and Thủ Đức have merged to become Thủ Đức City. This city, obviously, is also part of Hochiminh City :)
Morning from the middle of England today. Brilliant start to your Vietnam adventures. The streets are crazy 🤪 Omg and the currency eh? Lots of notes of little value? We watched this one with my Mum who loved it guys. Stay safe and well..especially on the roads 😂 🏴🇻🇳🙏
Hello!! Loved this video so much! I am from the states but currently in HCMC, searched up the Cu Chi tunnels to have a better idea of what to expect for my tour tomorrow. In doing so I bumped into your video. Must say ya'll's style of vlogging is very neat and clean. I will be using it for inspiration to make a mini vlog for my time here. Thank you so much for your recommendations safe travels :)
Dang guys I really appreciate your videos so much. Not even halfway through and I had the thought, "their videos are so nice and I can't put my finger on why" and then it occurred to me: I love the information you give and the realness. For example, I don't think I've ever seen one super slowmo clip of Katharine twirling around in a wildly impractical dress for travel, wearing a wildly unpractical hat and shoes. A lot of travel content has become people trying to be models? And what's with the extendedddddd slowmo clips most people use? You guys use it very tastefully, integrate humor, wear comfortable walking shoes, visit interesting places and actually describe the food. To each their own of course, but you guys are my kind of people. Also I'm digging this series and that you are staying in one region for 6 weeks to experience it fully. In 6 wks you could circle the globe multiple times, but taking your time there gives your videos an even more special quality!!
Wow! That is a very kind comment! That means a lot to us! We're very excited for our Vietnam adventures and can't wait to share these videos! Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
Great recommendation on The Ken Burns documentary. We’ve watched it and learned so much! Those bánh mì’s are amazing so fresh and the bread! Can’t wait to see more of your visit! ~Cara 😊
The sugarcane juice you drank does contain kumquat juice (it's to cut the sweetness of the sugarcane). I hear the ones mixed with passion fruit are also amazing there. If you're into coffee, try coconut, peanut, salted, and egg coffees and let us know which ones you like. Also do food tours in all the cities as those will teach you how to eat the food properly, which many foreigners struggle with and then don't get as good an experience. The best food tours I've seen are from Hanoi (MomDuty, "Flora and Note", and "This Food Bangz" all had great food tours there), "Chase and Shelbs" had a great one in HCMC, and "Steph and Pete" had a great one in Hoi An (lots to do in Hoi An...you can do the Jack Tran Tours, which look fun).
Good to know about the juice! We’ve tried many of those coffee drinks already and they’re so so good! We’ll have tried them all before we leave for sure! We have a food tour in Hanoi lined up. We’re super excited!
Ao Dai festival is celebrated on March 8th every year during Women's International Day. There's no "egg roll" in Vietnam because Vietnamese use rice paper for the springrolls, only Chinese use wheat+egg wrapper for their spring rolls, that's why they're call "egg rolls" . The cloth cards are silk cards, they were first came about in the 1990s, when my family sent us a silk Christmas card, I thought it was so nice .
I remember my Mom carrying me around Saigon on her bicycles screaming at me because I did something bad, and everyone can hear us because there are so many people on bikes everywhere. It's been over 30 yrs, I need to go home.
I have just watched your RUclips video about South Dakota to learn where to travel in South Dakota. Now, you guys are in VIETNAM , especially in Saigon (my hometown). Have fun!
I've been there a few times! You guys missed one of my favourite attractions: riding on the back of a scooter in heavy rush hour scooter traffic. It's basically a dangerous theme park ride.

I appreciated all the history and food and fun that you shared. The city was more beautiful than I would have thought! Looking forward to your future videos of Vietnam.
Thank you! ❤
I’m Vietnamese American. I left my hometown for a better life. I’ve learned American culture and y’all traveling and learn Vietnamese culture and history. Win win. Btw, y’all make amazing trip ever
This trip has been so incredible! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Looks like an incredible city and it is definitely on my bucket list now!
As it should be! But don't stop there. We can't wait to share what we've been up to. It gets better and better!
What a huge city! Wonderful!
Thanks, Terry!
Thanks for sharing history.
- US army and Korean army even killed many village when people were just old, kids and women in those villages.
You can visit those village in Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi provinces.
- Japan made around 2M people die when they came here too.
- Australia aslo came here for helping US army.
- Thailand let US rented land for keeping bom...
- After we got free from US 1975, we were the most poor country of the world.
- Then we helped Combodia freedome from pon pot (like Hitle in Germany and Ytali), and helped biulding Combodia from 0 to recover from from 1979 to 1989.
Same time we protected North of Vietnam cos china wanted to make Vienam weak until 1989.
- US and many countried didnt have conection with Vietnam coz they thought Vietnam made war in Combodia. They just didn't want to see the true Vietnam helped Combodia and many many Vietnames die coz ponpot coz protectuon Combodia even Vietnam is very very tired after finishing war from France 100 years, US 21 years and china over 1.000 years...
We just could open from 1995 after US let Vietnam free with economic...
I agreed! I"m Vietnamese living in America for the past 48yrs and I love America too. But, I find Vietnam is more interesting because of the rich history and mixed cultures of the French, Chinese infuences. I love Vietnam and plan to go back for my retirement.

I can certainly see the joy you both have being able to travel abroad again. Safe travels to you both. Wonderful episode on Vietnam.
We’re so excited to be abroad! We’ve been dying to go and it’s been everything we hoped for and more! Thanks and thanks for watching!
I absolutely loved watching this video. It is very detailed and well organized. Your commentary not only has so information based on research but also has so much positive energy. I am a Vietnamese but have lived most of my life in Virginia, USA. Your video really makes me want to go back. Thank you!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Oh that food looked so good and your genuine excitement over it made us want to visit even more. Thanks for sharing.
One of the most educational videos I've seen.
So fun and positive at the same time.
Thank you
❤️❤️ thank you and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
this channel provides so much information about vietnamese culture and people. I am glad that you guys made the research very entertaining.:))
I’m binge watching you guys. I love how much enthusiasm you have at each stage of your adventures. My husband and I are now planning a new adventure!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
What a very different look at the city versus what we saw during the war period. The war museum sounds very interesting, throughout this video I noticed several war relics on display. This series of videos is going to be very interesting as some of us compare "then to now" with what we knew. Until next time... Travel safe.
Charlie’s in the wire!
It has been interesting seeing this country's perspective on a lot of things. We've learned a lot just being here, but also from the Ken Burns documentary. We had a great time in HCMC!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Please don’t rely too much on Ken Burns…..
You're such lovely couple. I'm appreciated that you take time to learn Vietnam's history. Can't wait for your next video in Vietnam. Hope you guys have fun time here.
We are having a wonderful time in Vietnam! It's everything we hoped it would be and more! Thank you and thanks for watching!
I was looking forward to this video. All I can say, is brilliant. Thanks Adam and Kathryn. 👍😊🇻🇳
❤❤
Lots of history in Vietnam.
Vietnam has been so amazing! We're very happy it was our first Asian country to truly explore! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! ❤️
How fascinating. Everything is so different than what we are used to in the U.S. The architecture is amazing and that traffic! Wow! Thanks for a great video! ❤️👏
We're loving the differences of culture! The architecture, foods, culture and the way people do things! It's all so new and fun for us!
I've been following you guys in the U.S. and I cannot believe that you actually chose Vietnam as one of your vacation spots. Thank you!!! Hope you guys have a blast there.
Vietnam was spectacular! It was everything we hoped it would be and more!
That crunch at 5:11 I heard it all the way from Australia, wow I cannot wait to come back to Vietnam and have such an array of delicious food, glad I found your RUclips channel absolutely subscribed and can't wait to see your adventures around my motherland
haha did you feel the ground rumble?! We've loved our time in Vietnam! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!
This type of videos are very educational It doesn't only help you making your trip very easy and exciting but also teaches you about the country you are willing to visit thank you guys for your wonderful videos and hard works
Thank you and thanks for watching!

Oh man, I loved the way u guys eat,...I should be back and eat like u guy,......40 years I should come back there,,,,Thanks
We love to explore the country through food! Thanks and thanks for watching!
HCMC is so much fun! Thanks so much and thanks for watching!
Kathryn is so amped up in this video. I love it!!! Your excitement is infectious.
Woohoo! We’re pumped to be here!
Thank you so much for visiting and showing the world about Viet Nam. I was born and raised in Sai Gon, so it means so much that you made this video. Please keep up all the great work that you’ve been doing and stay safe!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I felt the same way as you guys on my last trip to Saigon. I'd end up walking for at least few hours and still could feel relaxed by end of day 😍
Wow! You totally picked up the vibe of the city. You have flexed in amazing ways from the U.S. Well done!😊
Thanks, Mindi! We're loving it here! Can't wait to share more
I went to some of those exact food places you guys went to a few years ago!
Saigon city is beautiful city
So excited as we are going day after tomorrow
Awesome! We hope y'all have a great trip!
Fascinating vid, folks. Thanks for sharing! Love yur vibes 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Note to self:
Cashew Cafe - Banh Mhi
Pho
Southern = sweeter + fattier but more herbs/veg
Northern = just beansprouts
Good stuff!
amazing. i am a Vietnamese person but the knowledge you give is so useful. i love your video 👍
As Vietnamese American. Saigon is where I was born and raise there. Appreciate your videos and hard work to create this video, especially place like Saigon. I have been watching lots of RUclipsrs about Vietnam when They were visiting you guys the best out of all. Enjoyed your videos. Saigon has been changed a lot since my last visit there.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I gotta say, for Americans you're very open to culture and diversity. Good on you!
I am Vietnamese. I am deeply moved by these words of yours, despite how much pain you have brought us during this invasion. Yes. wish me very selfless, even though it pains me every time I mention it!
Thank you guys for sharing.
Wow. I heard it was beautiful there. It looks awesome. You guys are awesome. Thank you for sharing. It's be somewhere I will never get to see without you guys.
❤️❤️
Great scenes here and always very enthusiastic.
The passion and excitement resonated with me. So thanks guys!!! Always love these videos ❤
I noticed Katherine touches the food with her hands and straw with her fingers too - good way to avoid food stomach issues is to limit the touches my of food. My tip with food hygiene 🎉
Thanks and thanks for washing!
The streets are crazy 🤪
Omg and the currency eh? Lots of notes of little value?
We watched this one with my Mum who loved it guys. Stay safe and well..especially on the roads 😂
🏴🇻🇳🙏
This video illustrates saigon in the best way, thank you for your content!
We hope you had a great time! Thanks and thanks for watching!
I really like the way you guys search for the information before going to or eating anything, that's cool
Dang guys I really appreciate your videos so much. Not even halfway through and I had the thought, "their videos are so nice and I can't put my finger on why" and then it occurred to me:
I love the information you give and the realness.
~Cara 😊
Ken Burns is fantastic and inspiring! The food was so tasty! Thanks, y'all!
Duong Van Ngo, known as the last public letter writer at the Saigon Central Post Office, died at his home Tuesday at the age of 94.
Oh good to know! We get spring and rolls confused, but now we know! The cloth cards were super cool! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Guys we made it to Vietnam! Visted Cheo Leo yesterday, the iced coffee was a treat and you described the experience perfectly. ❤
Awesome! Cheo Leo is fantastic! We hope y'all are having a great time!
Great Vlog!! Thank you for sharing the great city of Saigon Vietnam!! These are one of my favorite places I've been too.
We loved Saigon! Such a beautiful and fun city! Thanks and thanks for watching, John!
I like your video, thank you for coming to Vietnam. Wishing you both having a good time over there!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Vietnam loves 2 of you
You should eat bánh mì and drink coffe together. When you feel tired, sick... just get a Phở and you will be revival!
That's an amazing combo! We've been eating lots of pho!
I remember my Mom carrying me around Saigon on her bicycles screaming at me because I did something bad, and everyone can hear us because there are so many people on bikes everywhere. It's been over 30 yrs, I need to go home.
What a childhood memory! Yes you gotta go back! We had such an amazing time
It was beautiful days in Saigon . Saigon city is waiting for you to visit again
Wellcome to my country .... i hope you guys have a great time here.
We’re loving it so far! Thank you!
I’m Vietnam watching you guys ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍
Have fun!
Thanks so much and welcome to my country VietNam ❤️
Thank you! ❤️
It really is amazing to see Ho chi Minh City . Thank you
Another awesome video. The city is so much bigger than I expected by watching this video and the food and culture look amazing
Oh ya the city is huge and bustling! Thanks you! ❤️
thank you for sharing, very informative ! :)
I have just watched your RUclips video about South Dakota to learn where to travel in South Dakota. Now, you guys are in VIETNAM , especially in Saigon (my hometown). Have fun!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thanks I’m here in Saigon today but I don’t want to do what you are doing so I’m grateful you filmed it for me.
We hope you have fun!
Going there in april
Wellcome to Vietnam❤!
Such a cool place. I really liked the tunnels and Sony. I couldn't believe you fit in that small hole Adam!
Even the enlarged tunnel was pretty small! Sony was an awesome guide!
For the sugarcane drink the citrus taste may be from kumquats that usually gets added. Great video A+K
Oh good to know! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing about our Vietnam
Việt Nam xin chào các bạn!!😊
I've been there a few times! You guys missed one of my favourite attractions: riding on the back of a scooter in heavy rush hour scooter traffic. It's basically a dangerous theme park ride.
We definitely will be riding one in a similar environment before we leave Vietnam! We're both nervous and excited! 😂😜
Enjoy Every Minute
I was only able to go 10 ft in the tunnels, they’re so tight.
SG rất hân hạnh chào đón các bạn
❤❤
Hey Thanks for the amazing, I was planning to travel ho chi minh, and you guys just gave me whole itenary!
Really appreciate it!
Awesome! We hope you have a great trip and thanks for watching!
They add citrus to the sugarcane juice unless you tell them not to. I miss my daily sugar cane juice and milk tea!!
It's good stuff!
