      I suggest you do some research; Four Corners, broadcast on our (Australia's) public broadcaster since 1962, has investigated indigenous deprivation and degradation, most recently the abuse of minors at the Don Dale correctional centre in the Northern Territory, many who are Aboriginal. This led to a Royal Commission in Juvenile facilities in the territory, a major public inquiry which has considerable powers.
      Also, did you look at the name of the title of the show, Foreign Correspondent, foreign things usually happen away from your home country. Foreign Correspondent is also shown on our national broadcaster, the ABC.

      First of all, the crooked politicians running the Island must be rounded up and shot on site. Next, Washington needs to let Puerto Rican businesses buy what they need much cheaper from other countries instead of relying on the US who jacks up prices tenfold. The installation of an interim govt that works and cares for the people is a must. Those are just three huge problems facing the Island in a cesspool of many.

      They shoot shoot everyone who does not understand the Jones act, but has an opinion on it. Fun Fact: A 2018 study by economists at Boston-based Reeve & Associates and Puerto Rico-based Estudios Tecnicos, sponsored by the American Maritime Partnership, has concluded that the Jones Act has no impact on either retail prices or the cost of livings on Puerto Rico. The study found that Puerto Rico received very similar or lower shipping freight rates when compared to neighboring islands, and that the transportation costs have no impact on retail prices on the island. The study was based in part on actual comparison of consumer goods at retail stores in San Juan, PR and Jacksonville, FL, finding: no significant difference in the prices of either grocery items or durable goods between the two locations.

      Why promote bringing in non Puerto Ricans into Puerto Rico? don't you realize if that was to occur the identity of Puerto Rico would be wiped even more away due to mixtures like Mexicans into the gene pool?

    • @trolljones4386
      @trolljones4386 5 лет назад

      *the identity of Americans hasn’t died despite them bringing countless of ethnic backgrounds in to work*
      This depends what you are referring to exactly. If you mean like Anglos then yes they have been more mixed up then in the past (so a European is morel likely going to be a mix then those who came here from Jamestown or other British settlements.
      But outside of that there are alot less Puerto Ricans then Mexicans or Italians or other groups.
      *but this blockchain guy I do not trust*
      I don't trust him either especially since they all appear to be random Europeans trying to take advantage of the Donald Trump style Tax cut BS that has been on the Island for decades to encourage American Businesses to own and control the Island (so some Yankee who is not one of us is the one in charge of Sugar, power, food production and other needed things and not even a Spanish European).
      *We need to gain control 💯 ourselves*
      It depends on what you mean by that as Puerto Rico cannot out fight the USA in any means so the way to obtain independence is through either the UN or the USA (i mean the USA under more reasonable People like Bernie Sanders or even the Cortez lady then what People in the states (even me) has now).

    • @trolljones4386
      @trolljones4386 5 лет назад

      *PR people love their country but idk about dying for it and it’ll be a blood bath*
      It is not about that (if i really had to die i will) but the fact that the US has far bigger bombs and spends far more money then Puerto Rico has or does (of course Puerto Rico is a Colony with no real Army). The fact is even if every Puerto Rican tried to fight against the United States we would fail since their bombs are bigger, they have more guns and more troops etc.
      Unless there is some jungle we do not know about in where we can make traps but the point is that Independence can occur but it will not be the old fashioned way.
      *However, in PR it’s illegal and guaranteed jail time*
      If Puerto Rico actually becomes Independent (meaning no puppet Government, no US backed Dictator etc) then i will move there and that is why i am currently learning Spanish as i was not taught it growing up (i do know some but not too much).
      *But the only reason as to why I said to bring in Central Americans is because they are still hard working people of the land versus Puertorricans only a handful will work the land*
      It is creating incentives for work to where work is the bigger benefit then just dealing drugs, even if it means we must be paid more to work the fields because it is best to build a Country on your own labor then on the backs of others.
      There are alot of places where others were used instead of their own group because it is cheaper to do so (like it was cheaper for the Anglo to buy a Negro in the market then to pay a fellow Anglo to work out in the hot fields).

    • @Seekingtruth-mx3ur
      @Seekingtruth-mx3ur 5 лет назад

      troll jones I agree.Central Americans and Mexicans are different than Puerto Ricans.

      @trolljones4386 5 лет назад

      *Puerto Ricans have a unique identity and if you mix with Central Americans,that identity will be lost forever.*
      My real problem with mixing has to do with there are more of other Hispanics then Puerto Ricans. Puerto Rico is not like Mexico where there are over 125 million People rather there are around 9 to 14 million Puerto Ricans both stateside and on the island.

      Brian Fidler My father is a retired US Army officer who retired in Puerto Rico. He no longer has the right to vote. This isn’t the citizenship he deserves after serving his country for 23 years. And he made a choice to move back to Puerto Rico to help his aging parents. I remember him being very upset after the hurricane after seeing so many people suffering from lack of basic aid. Don’t make this a veteran issue because there are plenty of Vets still in Puerto Rico.
      “There are currently some 330,000 veterans and some 35,000 Puerto Ricans in active duty service. The Puerto Rico Army/Air National Guard and the Reserve components represent another 10,000 Puerto Ricans in uniform. At least, 375,000 Puerto Ricans are veterans or are still wearing the uniform.”

    • @bf6159
      @bf6159 5 лет назад

      I'm not, just stating a fact. And, sounds like your dad got screwed, in this matter maybe more so than others. The contract he, as many others had, was supposed to be his contribution towards ensuring citizenship. Obviously something went wrong because I know many folks from abroad who served and are citizens because of such. Did he choose to Ex-Pat? if so, that was a choice, just like the one many had to consider when thinking of moving to Costa Rica and or any other US territory. Becoming an Ex-Pat changes how everything works with regard to benefits, taxes, and so forth. That said, there are still towns here trying to recover from disasters a decade or more old, I'm simply pointing out that Puerto Rico isn't being treated in a manner that's out of alignment with how things work stateside... with one exception, Puerto Rico is getting attention, global attention.

Sacrifice for what we believe that could send US to the progressive.
    It's like everything are going be people aggre and disagree but that where we found the balance of how much we need to improve that we're one on PowerPoint.as a puerto Rican growing up we have been mistreated by United States in different format, but that never take us out of what we believe and what we can do for making us moving forward we very proud of where we coming from and what we represent.

    • @yosefnegron8450
      @yosefnegron8450 2 года назад

      Don't forget that during the Cuban revolt in late 1895-1898 it is estimated that around 30,000 Puerto Ricans fought to free Cuba from Spain, so Cuba's freedom was in part because of Puerto Ricans contribution to their cause. The plan was that once Cuba was free Cubans will go to Puerto Rico and help fight for the Puerto Rican freedom, but Puerto Ricans were betrayed by the Cubans. When American intervened in Cuba in early 1900s, they raised the American flag as a symbol of another colony, but shortly after the Treaty of Paris the US did not keep Cuba. The General in Chief of the Cuban Liberation Army was none other than a Puerto Rican, General Juan Rius Rivera. Puerto Ricans gain their independence in 1897 under the Spanish Crown which granted Puerto Ricans full autonomy over Puerto Rico and equal representation the Spanish Courts and government representation. So, Puerto Ricans did fight and not only for Puerto Rico but, for Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela, Spain, Colombia and Peru just to mention a few. I think you should study Antonio Valero y Bernabe, Ramon Power y Giralt.

If these people go to the island truly to help it come up out this crisis and embrace the people and culture I’d back it. I pray that’s the case otherwise good luck leaving the island with the skin still on they’re backs. • @Khali2K
    @Khali2K 5 лет назад +4

    Simple...
    There's absolutely no guarantee to Puerto Rico that they won't be left holding the short end of the stick once again. Crypto currency may have a future, but it's reliability is in way too sketchy waters to implement in a place that needs security.
    Ugly truth...
    Outsiders, even if good willed at heart, go to invest and take advantage of the tax breaks they receive for investing in Puerto Rico. Tax breaks that exist only because the tax has been transferred to the already hurting middle-working-class. Because taxes were raised to make way to tax cuts on the other end, and wages maintained at unrealistic brackets of fair living cost while removing employment laws that protected employees from exploitation; pretty much making it legal for employers to break simple common rules of a healthy employment environment and work-life balance ethics, now there's room for investors to spend little and buy cheap and get a bang for their buck in PR like no other place in the US, making it a true American dream destination. So even if you are goodwilled, your investment thrives on the pain, sweat, suffering, starving, lack of basic human needs, lack of education, lack of constitutional rights respect that Puerto Rico is left to make do with, because simply nobody respects their choices, their voices, their needs, their lives and their existence.
    Exploitation is something the nation has ate and breathed since the first time anyone laid eyes on it and anyone looking to take advantage of the situation (whether good intentioned or not) it's STILL taking advantage of the suffering of the people.
    True...
    Anyone hating on any particular race (white Americans/black Americans, Spanish, etc) is only negating a part of whom they are. But sooner or later one has to stand up for what they believe in or fall victim of their own silence.
    I believe no one should have the say on matters of Puerto Rico other than it's native citizens and those Puerto Ricans that are currently in the "diaspora". Not the US, not the investors, not the banks, not the Congress, not the PR government (whom never has trully reflected the interests and choices of the citizens, yet successfully securing their own interests and agendas), but the people. Every person who lives and breathes the consequences of the choices made on their behalf, without their consent, is most definitely the person entitled to a counting voice on solutions. Anyone else is just a conflict-of-interest subject that should not be counted and given so much power over decisions.
    Ugly-ugly truth...
    Politics are rigged games of make believe. No politician (or at least a very extreme minority of them) genuinely cares and gives a damn about fixing the island and all it's massive bleeding holes keeping it from shining from it all. They get millionaire contracts and sub contracts over even shadier sub contracts, sub contracting the same person for different ghost projects and jobs only enriching a very short few while draining the funds from the country. Puerto Ricans know this and the world is starting to get a view of how crooked this is. But it's the game itself that is crooked, it was built on crooked wishes and crooked dreams and scamming rules to play God while being the devil. The island has no active players on the board that can strike and make a change towards a winning turn, because the crooked rules ensure strong players can't even participate. Then they brainwash the weaker players left into believing the devil is God. This is the most simplest, oldest known scheme in the world, yet it still proves it's efficiency. From the naive hearts they prey and we tear our own skin in our own chest to put our hearts on their silver platters.
    If only...
    People would have the balls and the guts to do what's necessary to trully turn things around, there would be less predators preying upon what's rightfully theirs.
    I see both...
    A dark and loomy future for Puerto Rico IF Puerto Ricans don't take ALL the necessary actions to turn things around. And a very bright future because I see voices speaking loud, hearts pumping faster and growing warmer, people moving bricks and stones to renew and THAT brings forth change.
