  • You join me as I head back out hunting for a big tench. Having lost a nice Tench on my previous trip to this particular lake I was determined to get to grips with it. But would I be successful and would the short trip result in my largest (Venue best) from this particular lake?
Please do excuse some of the colour saturation as I had some hardware issues on this trip!
    Bait
    Air injected
    Red worms from my composts
    Lob worms
    Maggots
    Corn
Link ledger to allow the bait to not sink into the silt and air injected maggots and worms as bait.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Groundbait
    loose fed maggot
Mainline Margin Mix, mixed with liquid Mollasses and a light amount of hemp.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Tackle
Okuma heavy match rod 14ft which would allow me to change to float fishing if i should have wished to and a very old second hand Daiwa match reel loaded with Shimano Technium mono

    Cracking fish yet again.
I would love to find venues that are overlooked like you have found.
It's very rewarding finding fish like that.
Your videos have definitely inspired me to get out after the tench.
I can now have some idea how holding big tench like yours after a visit to an East Midlands river.
I fished it last year and saw the tip of the iceberg having tench to 6lb.
This years first trip I had 3 big tench to 7lb 13oz my new pb.
Hopefully I'll find something as big as yours on some new venues I have access to this year.
Tight lines looking forward to your next video.

@@francolinobasco In the late 70‘s and early 80’s there were a lot of tench in the area where I live where it is not a native fish. You could catch a lot of one to two pound specimens. You would hear of catches of fish over two kilos, but no more. Then in 1984 they disappeared, possibly due to the proliferation of the Louisiana red crayfish. My brother and I were very fond of fishing for this beautiful fish with those wonderful colours (green but sometimes golden) and red eye. It is not a strong fighter but it is a very mysterious fish and one that makes you very happy after having properly baited a spot, or even without baiting at all. In mid October with the arrival of cold weather they stopped biting until the following spring.
Thank you Mark. The England team is very powerful and that's why the match was very intense and exciting. The outcome was very uncertain until the last second of the game!

This year has probably been my worst season for Tench. Really underestimated the lake I'm fishing.

Yes it was a very poor spring weather wise and that is being kind.

Wow amazing fishing 👍what kind of depth has that pond got Iv been stocking a small pond with tench would love to think they could grow that size

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  Месяц назад

this lake is actally fairly deep in places but does vary based on how they extracted the gravel, to be fair you don't need a deep water to hold large tench, it is more down to the availble food sources be that natural or otherwise and ph levels of the lake. I know quite a few shallow waters with good sized tench.

    Hi Mark, I hope you're well .
Great vid looking at a small practically unfished water near me that has been known for holding good tench up to 8lb....
In your opinion, do you think a 2lb 6ft Dwarf would be suitable? The water us unmanaged and fairly snaggy.
Thanks and keep up the a* vids 👍

    • @francolinobasco
      @francolinobasco  Месяц назад +1

That would be absolutely fine in my opinion Daniel however depends on the action of the Dwarf, you dont want it to be too stiff.

Just to clarify the facts, read up on the rules which is knowledgeable to know. We do put the fish back. Catch and release, so other anglers can catch and release another day. Editcate and respect to the fish it self. Fish safety.

Catcho and realso put them back in the water and not in the frying pan it's the rules here in the u.k ALL FRESHWATER FISH MUST BE RETURNED TO THE WATER UNHARMED. Just to clarify and clear things up.

Wow, that is indeed a strange law in your country. Many people think that fishing just for fun is not humane, as the fish have to fight for their lives, possibly multiple times in their lives due to hobby fishermen. Inevitably, many fish get seriously injured by the fishing hook and are then simply thrown back into the water to die? Every country has its own rules :)
