I use mine as a beer cooler. You can fit 13 beers, (12 oz cans) and 4 lbs of ice. It's not easy to get to while driving but my kids don't mind passing me one on long trips.
We used to have a Town and Country with the stow and go seats. My wife and I would hide Christmas presents there. I never thought of using them as coolers.
It’s a beer cooler same in dodge rams in front of back seat both sides holds six tall cans and half bag of ice so you have a cold drink when you get to where you were going
It's for the battery. In the US the battery is under the passenger seat. If this was specd for right hand drive, they'd put the battery under there which would be the passengers seat.
I found an easily accessible area that will fit most mid sized firearm's comfortably and offers decent concealment. But you may need to purchase a driver's side steering wheel airbag removal tool from Amazon. 🤷🏼♂️😆
This is a actually a hold over on many Daimler/Chrysler co-designed products. I had this under my seats on both my 13' Durango's and my current '18 Jeep GC Summit. But I first noticed this way back on our 2006 Mercedes R350, it is the exact same unibody platform that the Jeep and Dodge share, also the MB ML and GL class of that time period. MB built theirs on that same architecture, but now have updated that architecture many times since the first 2011 Durango. But my 2015 Chrysler 300 S AWD had this underseat bin as well. But going back further on the 06 MB R350 4Matic, it had a smaller battery in it that was used to power accessory items, like when you hit the Park button on any MB, It electronically shifts to park for you and possibly for the MB optional Restonic mode that recirculates the A/C or heat after the car is off and you are parked with it totally turned off. I studied this old platform since it began and was shared with Chrysler thru their MB/Daimler ownership. They are great platforms, but It is finally changing to the new Fiat platform now, hope it lives up the old MB platform that lasted well over 10 years and brought quality to FCA products in the the Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Charger, Challenger & 300 platforms that shared with MB cars/trucks back then and FCA kept alive until Fiat could finally had to update these platforms. For them this was difficult as they don't build as large of cars/trucks as Benz.
Perfect spot for a subwoofer, improve the low end of your systems performance! Nice work! Having the battery nearby too, makes for easy amplifier installation as well
On the passenger's side it has a door like that, that holds the car's battery. This may be for a dual-battery system IF Dodge Durango has a diesel engine in which you will need 2 batteries. Never the less it is good to know.
Another difficult area is the compartment where the spare tire would be. Some have a big full area. Ours as only half of it. I do not know what is under the plastic area.
I found this on the drivers side it has a 2 harness module in the front and a platform for something else in the rear of it. Not sure what the modules is or what else would go in the other spot interesting though would lime to know now.
Usually the AWD models have the module in there. It’s the transfer case control module. My ‘17 Durango r/t has it. The transfer case control module on my ‘01 ram is a lever on the floor and doesn’t complicate something simple by adding electronics into the mix lol. I’m actually going to relocate that module in my Durango and install a second battery under there at some point
I found that in my Durango but it has a battery in there aside from the one on under the passenger seat... I haven’t checked if it’s connected but I’ll double check to make sure that it is.
I found something under our passenger seat as well. Is that what it is, a battery? How do you know if it is connected? What is it for? I'm Sorry if these are stupid questions for you though I don't know.

Well it's not hidden or secret anymore... My 2019 GC Overland has this compartment full of electronics. There's no room to stash anything else in there. Looks like controller modules. My 2011 Limited also had this compartment, and it too was full of the same electronics modules.
I’ve had this in my 2014 Chrysler 300 I always wanted to kno what it was I never opened it but if u feel from the front seat it’s open but I never opened cause I thought I would fuck something up
On my WK2 GC that place is for the air suspension control module and I clench my teeth whenever I see people go water-crossing with these cars... Won't be so fun if the battery or something else is flooded
I just checked my 2020 rt and it has a bunch of electronics in it unfortunately. I was also really hoping I could fit a small sub in that spot but it won't work out.

My husband has cleaned our truck many times. How did you find this lol. After watching your video of course we had to check. Yes we found it 👍
Some of the higher trim levels have the air suspension control module in it.

I thought batterie aswell... if someone has the money they could drop a diessel engine in there if they wanted so this would make alot of sence
its for the air suspension control mod for models that have them.
My thoughts as well, like maybe they move the battery there for right hand drive models.
Thanks for video. The smuggle thing was funny as hell by the way
I can bring cheese from Mexico now
It’s a perfect 8 inch subwoofer spot
For a battery. Extra battery or some dodges have the battery there instead of under the passenger seat.
The battery is in the same compartment under the front passenger seat
I always wondered what the intent was by Dodge because it don't seem Standard as its not easy at all to open or close. Maybe a Gun Storage.
THANX MATE. I NEED TO CHECK THAT OUT. TOP MARKS👍👍👍

It’s because the battery sits in that same compartment but is under the passenger side. It’s just symmetrical design

isn't it the same as the battery compartment under the driver seat?
