- Enjoy this classic Disney Sunday night movie!
Travis Tilby (Jordan Bridges) leaps into action when neighbor Stewart Larson (Lloyd Bridges) asks him to mind an ailing goose that's slated to be part of Thanksgiving dinner. A gentle animal lover, Travis dotes on the bird, feeding it by hand and speaking to it in soothing tones. But, as Thanksgiving nears, Travis has second thoughts about seeing the bird slaughtered, and he appeals to his father, Hank (Beau Bridges), and others in the community for help in saving the goose.

I watched this movie when I was a kid and I still love Canada geese.
I remember watching this movie when it first came out, and I have always wanted to see it again, but have never been able to find it. 😊 I remember it being a really good movie. Glad to finally see it again.
Thank you for making this available to us, its been 20 or more years for me, but its well worth seeing it again. A special Disney movie, my youngest son got to see it now. Such a blessing.
Great to see the whole Bridges family here! Well...at least 6! What great memories for them! ♥️⭐️🙏🏼
They are such a nice family! I’ve enjoyed watching their movies, series & interviews. 😊 And I had never seen this one. Good to see Jason Bateman, too! Loved him on The Hogan Family.
Thanks for posting this movie!
Happy Thanksgiving 2020. God blessings to all.
God bless us all and prayers for those around the world who have not.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS MOVIE💖💖💖
47:05 Wonderful uncredited cameo appearance by Jeff Bridges. Gotta love how this film stars his older brother Beau as the father, Beau's own real life son Jordan as Travis, with Lloyd Bridges as Mr. Larson.
And Dorothy Dean Bridges as Mrs. Aggie Larson, who was Lloyd’s real life wife and mother of his children.
Uncle Jeff.
Thanksgiving 2022! Made it for another one---hope everyone has a great time this year.
I’ve all always loved Frankie Rizzoli & now I know why….I grew up on Sea Hunt. 🙈🙈🙈 Yes I’m that old. 😮
I was 5 when this aired.my mom recorded it.watched it all the time.still bomb.rememberd a lot of the words too
Saw this movie so long ago and it's still a really good holiday film for Thanksgiving. Classic trope of the young boy having to raise a goose, only to kill him for Thanksgiving dinner, and along the way, the family comes to love the goose as part of the family. That moment with Travis raising the axe to kill Chester, it really echoed the story of Abraham and Isaac in the Old Testament, and how in the end, it was more about willing to be obedient, and having learned responsibility.
I watched this a few times when i was a kid i wish it was a theatrical movie
this was a wonderful movie especially for the season Thanksgiving it reminds me of the movie fly away home it to was about a goose but a little girl was raising a bunch if them and it was based on a true story it took place right here in CANADA 🇨🇦 and I enjoyed that one as well so thank you for sharing I appreciate it very much ❣ oh yeah and HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🍁🌻🍂🦃🍂🎃🍁🦃🍂🌻🍂🎃 RO YOU ALL TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS ⛅👼💓
I love that movie Fly Away Home!
Jason Bateman looks so different & so unrecognizable on how young he was when he portrayed Steve Tilby in this 1986 movie "The Thanksgiving Promise"!!!!!!! I almost did not notice and/or not recognize Jason Bateman at first being in this movie when I watched this 1986 movie "The Thanksgiving Promise" when I was a child becoming a teenager!!!!!! This is really very interesting, really very amazing & really a very big surprise to me about Jason Bateman being in this 1986 movie "The Thanksgiving Promise"!!!!!!
He was on a sitcom for a while called, ‚The Hogan Family‘ from 1986 to 1981. That was a nice series, too! 😊
This has always been a childhood favorite it is a true gem - nothing compares to the 80s. I haven’t had turkey or meat in 20+ years anyone else?
Blessings Love ❤️ Praise Thanks Amen.
Great film, love the Bridges family. Note to the script writers; CANADA gosling, not "Canadian" gosling.Go Chester! Go Chester!
In New England we’ve always called them Canadian Geese. Thanks for telling us. I’m sure most of us, unless we have family in Canada, wouldn’t know that.
Well, thank goodness, I thought they were going to end this fun feel-good movie with the slaughter of a boy's pet. They took us right to the brink! I was thinking , hmm , no cats and dogs or other pets on that farm, the dad must have made them slaughter them all. Keep your word and resent your father for the rest of your life. Not rational or logical. When an equitable trade would be just as good. Nice to see a couple Brdges, especially Lloyd.
I really liked this movie when it aired in 1986. It was a made for T.V. movie. I think this is the only time Llloyd, Beau and Jeff appeared together. Someone said Beau's son is in it too. Probably one of the first things Courtey appeared in too, what a hottie.
Yes! Trevor was Jordan Bridges, Son of Beau & Dorothy Dean Bridges played her husband‘s wife & I think that was their sister, Lucinda as a redheaded neighbor lady! Great actors & great family!
Somebody forgot the opening and closing credits in The Thanksgiving Promise.
Gotta subscribe
Chester the flying goose
My 7th grade teacher for my basic skills class showed us this movie.
My favorite part was when Chester was stealing cigarettes from the old man sleeping on the bench and when he attacked Alec for bullying Travis. I hated Alec with a passion especially after he hit Chester, good thing Sheryl bitchslapped him. I’m glad I’m remembering and revisiting this film.
shame it's stretched out to widescreen. unwatchable
Sorry it's unwatchable to you. We have to alter the videos in some way so they don't get taken down. We've had multiple movies removed from the channel. We're actually surprised this is still up :)
@@VintageShack maybe "unwatchable" was a bit much but it's hard for me to watch old square TV movies stretched to widescreen like that. I did notice a version of it in the right ratio but it was dubbed in French. :)
@@juicebirdmedia1406 hey it's all good, I've seen some movies uploaded where you can literally only see the person's mouth and the rest it "super blown out" of the screen..I'd NEVER watch a movie like that lol, whatever makes YOUR experience comfortable. There was another version here years before ours and it got removed it seemed recently. RUclips is weird sometimes.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wholesome family Thanksgiving movie, don’t make em like this anymore ❤️
Thanksgiving 2020
The picture quality is very poor.
Cough fly away home cough
Soy de Monterrey N.L. sabes cómo puedo verla en Español o con subtítulos por favor 🙏 la Vi hace muchos años en la TV y ya no la e podido ver ya que no se cómo encontrarla
I love that movie, too.
I can't watch. It starts off with them killing them... I just can't.
Eat poo poo!
🤦
All Disney movies basically follow this premise, their is a death or great tragedy in the beginning and then the hero saved the day in the end with lessons learned
@@donniehollingsworth1611 ALWAYS. Part of The Hero‘s Journey, I think.
Yeah...that’s hard to watch.
