I can't help feeling the essence of a McLaren is missed on a lot of journalists. To me, a McLaren is a far more subtle car than, say, a Ferrari, something which journalists often mark it down for. I guess when you only have a car for a few hours, you want to get as much attention as possible. Sure, there are owners who want that too. All I can say is, I know which I prefer. Other reviews have also stated the considerably improved low / mid range torque courtesy of the revised electric torque fill - which wasn't mentioned here. Also, could the draught around the neck be because the rear window was down?
I really like the ext, int design. It's so new, fresh and finessed to perfection in my view. And those color options! exciting colors and overall it makes me feel good, satisfied.
To my eyes, the aesthetic design of this car is a success. It just needs a more charismatic engine, and the electronic gremlins to be solved. The steering and dynamics are great.
I'd favour any car where the Lane Keeping/Departure Warning systems are off (in the UK) by default. One button 'off' is a begrudging compromise but one I'm making for now.
Won't be long, if you can't already, have an aftermarket modification to have it set off by default. Had that done to stop-start being on by default in mine
The 650S is where the 12C should have been….. now the same towards the ARTURA…… This spider is far more exciting looking and if near 700hp isn’t enough then you need to get out more…. If those are more interested in tech I suggest you buy a laptop and catch a bus…….
I bought this but sold it immediately after testing the fabulous 296 Ferrari...McLaren is ok if its a senna, p1 or 765lt...750s is ok too...on my order list
Porsche: makes the same looking drugged up VW Beatle for 50 years You and everybody else: OMG ITS AUTOMOTIVE PERFECTION ON WHEELS and they have a identity McLaren: makes different cars but easy to identify as a McLaren. You and everybody else: AnOtHeR McLaReN wHeRe YoU cAn’T tElL iT’s NeW. Sigh🤦🏿♂️
Exactly, Mc Laren makes all the cars the same... they all use the same engine. This one is embarrassing for how slowly it goes and how without verve it is.
"paddles are fenomenal"; what a joke!, sports/super cars and automatic gearboxes 🤦🏻; it is the equivalent of 'say you don't know how to drive without saying you don't know how to drive!' In an EV world, the only thing we need more is less interaction and engagement from cars.

It's not subtle when this same new version loses all power on the highway and endangers a person's life.
I'd agree with respect to the Artura, but the 720s is (for me) a furistic star fighter (way more impressive than a ferrari)

It is an excellent looking car!
Indeed. In this day and age of aero this, and cooling that, this car has the right proportion and details that’s pleasing to the eyes.

Very nice video, well done!
Thank you very much!
Just a teensy bit Partridge, but good review
They did some great updates, great video James.
Hopping that coupe gets same update
Thank you!
You can raise the rear window.
Profound, artistic review :0
Even though I'm not a fan of the car, I always love James's reviews. He's a touch of class and a brilliant presenter.
Thank you!
What a stunning looking car 😍
I love that car
How do we get the American version to have the euro brake lights? Way better looking!
Looks a lovely car appears to drive lovely

I’d take one over a Cielo all day every day.
Add a titanium exhaust and you'll get the raunchy exhaust notes you desire

So the original version ( only out for 18 months ) was a prototype?
How pissed off I would be if I bought the unimproved version and how badly will the resale be as well 😢

Liar
@@mrlionrocks *I witnessed him buy it in the store .......... the toy store that is*
spider and gts?or just artura and gtb?
296 is arguably the worst looking out of all the mclarens you mentioned
Another McLaren where you can’t tell it’s new.
It isn't new - it's a mid-life update
So the old ones aren't looking "old"?

If Alan Partridge has a son.......
Spinning wheel pull away? What a load of rubbish!
Still sounds truly terrible

To level supercars had exclusively paddles for 20 years. Have you woken up from a coma?
